About
The adventure begins as the Undead King meets his end by Sir Edward's blade. Indulf Blackheart, mercenary leader in the Undead Legion, must balance his need for bloody revenge with his thirst for wealth and power. Together with the young witch Lexa, the dashing Black Knight Indulf sets out on a quest of infamy to plunder the realm's riches and build a criminal empire to call his own. With allies in short supply, a previously unseen faction lurking in the sewers may prove to be the key to the Black Knight's dark dream... sneak and backstab your way!
AGE OF FEAR is a long-running series of fantasy turn-based strategy games loved by fans for its tabletop wargame battle system and in-depth RPG customization (scroll down for a list of features).
⭐NON-LINEAR CRIMINALITY - pick your assignments and loot King William's lands for all they're worth. Forge your way through a twisted plot into the realm's seedy underbelly!
⭐CRAFTING - collect ingredients from enemies and environment, and craft all the most powerful artifacts!
⭐INVISIBILITY - are you tired of enemies seeing all your moves? Cast a spell and whoop... you disappeared. However, the AI can do it too.
⭐HEX-FREE BATTLES - test your tactics with a novel movement system where size matters and units aren't constrained by artificial grids!
⭐OPEN WORLD - are you bored with the main storyline? No worries, you can always take a side-quest or play procedurally-generated battles. Play this game as you want!
⭐GLOBAL EVENTS that occur while exploring the World Map, à la Battle Brothers. This feature is still being developed and could serve to provide more lore and fun unit interactions conditional on the player's party!
⭐FACTION BASES which can be upgraded as you explore the Age of Fear world. Investing in base upgrades will unlock additional recruitable units, skills and locations to explore
⭐MERCENARIES - recruit your troops from multiple races and factions! Will a Dwarven Warrior work with a bloodthirsty Orc?
⭐ALIGNMENTS such as Evil and Holy. Units from opposite sides won’t like each other and may desert. A bit of diplomacy (or charisma!) is needed to manage such relationships.
⭐EXTENDED STORY including many sub-quests, optional events, alternative endings, more detailed lore, etc.
⭐FREQUENTLY UPDATED - we take our work seriously and patch our games often with new features and content. Also, whenever possible, those updates are back-ported to all our previous games!

⭐FANTASY STORYTELLING - get wrapped up in a spectacular storyline featuring a motley crew of characters, globetrotting adventures and fantasy shenanigans galore. All hand-illustrated!
⭐PERMANENT DEATH - accept the grim realities of death where all units that fall in battle stay dead... unless an evil Necromancer raises them as Zombies.
⭐ARTEFACTS AND RELICS - discover numerous unique weapons, armours, potions and treasures, with the rarest granting powerful OP skills and stat bonuses.

Number Five brings stealth in the AOF world and it smacks! Ratmen can become invisible but also go underground and tunnel through, which brings a lot of new ways to slay or be slane ^^ The Rat Faction is pretty fun to play around with as you have to avoid frontal engagements and seek lone targets (as best possible). The fact that you can use Ambush (deploy area becomes huge if all party members have an invisible trick) is a game changer. There are also tools to fight against sneaky units with both passive and active skills that break invisibility. Indulf the Black Knight and Lexa the Witch have a great dynamic and come with their own Hero tricks. Other new feature landing with Five is delayed spells, new spells with large areas of effect but they take a full turn to cast, quite fun to set up and deadly when used right. All this will slowly be integrated into the otherr AOF games, as always and forever.
Very promising. Love the new mechanics. Will update as I dive in more, but another great entry in the series.
Great sequel to a great series adding stealth mechanics and a new faction made up of giant rats. It's just as goofy and enjoyable like the other titles but holy heck does it have a slow start. You see, before you get access to your base where you can recruit new units you need to navigate a large sewer labyrinth where each screen transition has a chance to spawn a random encounter with slimes. Doesn't sound so bad until you realise each of the buggers have Regeneration making each fight a terrible slog. And worse yet is how the sewers are designed because when entering you have to choose wether to go left or right. If you pick wrong here you will have to explore a massive labyrinth that go nowhere forcing you to retrace your steps to the very start which means more fights with freaking slimes. So yeah, not a fan of the beginning, at all. Once you get past that though and can play the game proper it really picks up. It has fun missions and plot as always, and the narrative doesn't take itself too seriously. If you like turnbased strategy games this is a no brainer.
I bought this as a bit of a joke, but it's really good. The best Skaven game on the market
I got the product as a beta tester, bought dlc myself tho. While any game gives you everything in the game, each game has a campaign (and abilities/items linked to said campaign, including characters). After playing all, i belive THIS is the quintessential version of this farnchise. If there was ever a time to jump aboard, this is it. It feels like the campaign content is the best and the most numerous in this one compared to the others, with lots more options to pivoit then in other versions where you kinda stuck whit what you got. The story and personality of it really well developed by this point and shows the devs ongoing mastery of his project feeding back to an ever more quality product. While the engine is still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, Skyrim really shows how hard to make a new one even for a full blown AAA team, let alone an indie. I belive if anything this game should bring him closer to a new engine, then ever. No crashes, no bugs tho. The only thing i found really was an insignificant visual about attackable enemies that literally fixed itself by clicking once somewhere. While personally i found it frustrating that you get smaked in the face with fight events seamingly constantly, depending on your agenda in the game, someone might actually find it too few and apart. Absolute broken combos still well in the game, and huge rewards for quests, and crafting is still akward and i never use it, its more of a very late game thing to give final touches to your build, rather then something you can use to build up. As I played it trough at this point i have 0 clue if the post game will change, right now it seems to throw me on free game mode, and i lost NEAR EVERYTHING! Practically 2 full bases, one of my main guy and all his gear, and along my build is practicly shattered. So when the game says do this quest last, you better listen.
Excellent game without any hesitation. Simple game mechanics, with many declinations, attributes, enemies/recruits, items. Nice story, the open world adds something to the campaign. Kind of hard, needs a little grinding, which is good. Stealthed Ratmen are a very good faction. One of my favorites iterations of the series.
Yes
been playing since OG undead king will probably continue to buy and play these games till the series is done. It is i different gameplay style you need to adopt but its still very fun and obviously go ratties both in warhammer fantasy n this game
