Completed this game like 3 years ago on EGS. And now wanted to play Requiem, but could not resist replaying this gem while grabbing all achievements. The gameplay and relationship between characters feel very fresh in comparison with many other repetitive videogames. The plot is also quite fascinating, even when playing for the 2nd time it felt good, but when i played for the 1st time, I was amazed. Stealth is quite enjoyable and some missions have a lot of ways of how you can beat them. Graphics is also good for me. Overall it a solid 9/10, can't wait to play Requiem!
I honestly don't understand how this game has such overwhelmingly positive reviews. Never written a review this big but here it goes. I understand the game is made by a small team of developers and I whole heartedly appreciate their efforts. This is definitely a good game with great scenery, good story, and I can see what the developers were going for. But the actual gameplay drove me up the wall. I don't think I've ever had another game in my library that frustrated me this much. Here are the key reasons: (There are a few minor spoilers) 1. Treasure chests are weirdly annoying. If your camera isn't angled just right looking into the chest after you open it, you can leave items behind without even realizing it. Why? Most games simply auto picks items in the chest with the press of a button. This feels like a problem that shouldn't exist. 2. The enemy AI is buggy. I had enemies in certain situations get stuck in an endless alert state right next to me, just standing around forever instead of going back to their patrols. 3. The sling is unbelievably slow. Even after fully upgrading the sling, it feels underpowered. They could have given Amicia a stapler instead of this pathetic excuse for a weapon. The startup time for the weapon is so long, it gave me an aneurysm in the final boss fight. I gave up finishing the game. She is so slow to initiate the weapon and reloading takes its own sweet time. Not something I enjoyed. 4. The game tells you to explore... until it doesn't. You can accidentally cross certain points in the game and suddenly there's no way to go back for collectibles or missed loot. If the developers were going to reward exploration, at least they should let players backtrack. 5. Quality of life features. No manual saves, no option to change the camera's field of view, clunky controls (try changing weapons in the heat of battle and try crafting ammos when you run - you can't, you will see how frustrating the controls are, Hugo at one point in the game controls rats with his mind. This take both triggers, D-pad and right joystick. You have to be a contortionist with your fingers to play this game in certain areas!), and no DLSS support (only in-game resolution scaling). 6. Difficulty cannot be adjusted. Are you kidding me! There is no difficulty selection option when you play the game for the first time! I am a casual gamer who plays games for story. The game chooses difficulty on its own. I do not know whether to call it medium or easy. Also, if an enemy sees you, you are done! Atleast with other stealth games you can fight you way out. I know a lot of people love this game, and that's completely ok. It just wasn't for me. Between the technical issues, clunky controls, and the frustrating final boss fight with the sling, I can't recommend it. A B+ for effort from the developers.
𝘼 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙜𝙪𝙚 𝙏𝙖𝙡𝙚: 𝙄𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 is easily one of the best story games I've ever played. The story had me hooked from start to finish and I actually cared about the characters, which doesn't happen that often for me. The gameplay feels really smooth. The controls are satisfying and everything just feels natural while playing. It never felt clunky or frustrating. It took me around 15 hours to finish, and I actually think that's the perfect length. It doesn't end too quickly, so you really get to enjoy the story without it dragging on. Even after so many hours I still wanted to keep playing. Now that I've finished it, I'm already going back for 100% achievements because it's honestly worth it. If you're into story-driven games, just play this. Amazing story, fun gameplay, great atmosphere, and characters you'll actually care about. Definitely one of the best games I've ever played. 𝟭𝟬/𝟭𝟬
