A Caelo Ad Terram.
For centuries the Protectorate have been the stalwart defenders of humanity’s ventures through the Orion Arm, guarding against enemies foreign and domestic of the United Earth Spheres. As humanity’s galactic infrastructure teeters on the brink of collapse over a deficit of the resource “flux,” the Protectorate brings honed tactics and heavy firepower to bear. Field veteran commandos to deep strike enemy positions, or bring the heavy firepower of your mech divisions to break enemy lines.
Grow. Expand. Exterminate.
The Grell are a tide of highly evolved plant-like creatures that spawn sites of raw flux crystals through the galaxy, and humanity’s first contact with alien life. As external powers dive deeper into exploiting flux for faster than light travel, the once passive Grell have begun to flood across worlds, wiping out those who would threaten their biosphere. Expand your blooms by spreading the roots of your biomass across the battlefield, and rip apart your enemies with twisted evolutions from the acidic Harbinger to the rampaging Reaver.
Across a Million Worlds, We March.
The Legion of Truth are a fanatical empire from beyond the reaches of known space, devoted to their Emperor and a pantheon of god-like beings. Their armies crusade across the cosmos, bringing all in their path under the Idals, and purging those unwilling or unable to accept the voice. Drown your enemies with waves of expendable Thralls and Fanatics, and break your enemy under the treads of the titanic Terror Tank, a mobile fortress that can reconfigure with the tide of battle.
For Purpose. For Survival.
The Xol are civilization of autonomous robotic consciousness, brought to the brink of extinction by the dark crusade of the Legion. Though fiercely individualistic, they are united by one imperative: survival. As the tide of annihilation turns against them, the Xol will bring the most advanced robotics technology in the galaxy to bear, wield the accumulated genius of their society, and wipe out all who threaten their future.

This is the definitive spiritual successor to StarCraft 2 if there ever will be one. This is what StormGate should be but fell flat on its face. The early release version is fully playable and I would dare say feels more complete than other fully released products. So far I encountered no bugs or anything that spoiled the experience from a technical point of view. Things that I would ask the devs to look into: 1. User Interface needs a polish for useability and readability - maybe increase the font sizes a bit or make a polished look overall 2. The sound design needs a polish pass; some sound effects like mining keep playing loud no matter where you are on the screen - they become distracting. 3. The music score is understated and mundane - you guys are putting together what could be the next galactic epic that could rival the starcraft universe, get some good composers to juice up that epic factor. These are all minor points compared to the overall package, I am very interested in following the development of this project. I am an RTS fan since C&C Red Alert and WarCraft 2. This game gives me hope that the sci fi RTS genre still has life in it and it will be a worthy successor to StarCraft 2 or C&C 3,

I baked it for 100 Bucks and don t regret it. It feels like a good addition to SC2 and plays very smooth when you get into it. The devs pay attention to the community and spit out updates frequently. This will be something big when ready.

Really fun, devs are really responsive to feedback. Still has a way to go before its done, but what is there is really good. Campaign: good start, nice mission design, nothing too crazy new, story quite standard but could go cool places. Only the first few missions and then the last one have all their cinematics, RPG-Dialogue stuff is only there for the first few missions. But I like that they gave us additional missions even though they are not fully done cause its a complete arc of the story. That way you can get a better impression of where things are going. It would suck to just have like 6 missions with full polish instead of 12. PVP: fast paced, macro a bit simple, really responsive micro and cool dynamics between heroes and units and mercs. Coop (galactic war): Missions are cool, Commanders are nice but needs more of them, galactic war metagame layer is a bit slow and cryptic, would be nice if there were different kinds of missions (not just coop maps but maybe survival, 1vAI Campaign style missions, tower defense or something like that to make galactic war more than just a meta layer over the Coop-Commander-Mode.) Balance: Better than expected considering the variety of factions and mercs, balance updates are coming fast which is nice. But naturally there is still a bit of imbalance. Performance and Feel: Units feel great, movement is fluid, micro is intuitive, Big units can be a bit sluggish in fights. Optimization in PvP seems good, in Campaign the frames can drop quite a bit on any system. Over all fine for EA. UI: I like it. A bit confusing at first glance but once you understand whats what its fine. Sound, VoiceActing: Love the weapon sounds and voice lines. In campaign the normalization is still all over the place. Voice acting is good but not great (though the writing is on the campy side in the beginning - gets better throughout the campaign but still ends up just fine.) I read a lot of people feeling a lack of readability of units but I dont see that at all. After a couple of hours I can differatiate everything fine. Only Grell could use a bit of a color overhaul - too much of the same shade of green. But your milage may vary on that.
I played mostly 1v1 and 2v2 PvP. AS for an early access I am sattisfied with what game provided for it's value. Matches are interesting and mechanics are good. Would be better with bigger playerbase, but still playeble even now.
Really good even as an early access title: there is a campaign, skirmish vs AI, co-op skirmish vs AI, galaxy mode (~a global map where you fight it out across the galaxy against multiple alliances and accrue points). I would say, it's a must buy if you are a fan of RTS games. The game itself is extremely fun: there are 4 factions (1 of them is in beta) and for each of those you can choose a mercenary group supporting them (sort of like what we had in Emperor Battle For Dune with tleilaxu, sardaukar, etc.) by providing access to more units. Then there is also the overall xp gain, where you get access to more faction-wide bonuses and perks, some of which you can cast like the god abilities in Age of Mythology or Dark Eldar abilities from WH40K: Soulstorm. I am also a fan of graphics and animation, those look great. I would say in general it is sort of like a mix of Starcraft 2, Age of Mythology and Emperor Battle For Dune. Strongly recommended!
Unique RTS with a helldivers style galactic war endgame. Campaign was great, Coop is great, have not played PvP yet but the game is solid, and is not a knock off to anything I have played. The single menu for all unit building is really good and saves useless clicking, the graphics are good (but this is early access and some things are slightly buggy still). All in all, great game.
very fun game especially the galactic war coop (or with ai) is super fun and casualfriendly while the 1n1 ladder is fun but sweaty xD they fixed so much since i saw the game the last time, incredible how fast they change stuff to the better with teh developer being former progamers and streaming their own game you know this game is a game they play themself alot :)
The most important part is present - good foundations. The factions & units are interesting and good looking. Heroes with abilities are a good addition. Movement feels good, maps look beautiful, art style is on point and so on and so on. If (and this is a big IF) the devs continue developing the game and fixing the UI, overall bugs, graphics quality, adding new units, finish the campaign and so on - this game would be a realy realy great to spend time on. Until then keep in mind that this feels like an Alpha version. 40 EUR is way toо much for what you get right now, but in the future, if they deliver all that was promised, it will feel like too little instead. Let's see what the future holds.
