Long, long ago, there was an ancient kingdom called Ys which prospered under the auspices of two heavenly Goddesses. Over time, the kingdom came to be known as Esteria, and its divine history was largely forgotten by all but the descendants of those who once preached the Goddesses’ will.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Sep 3 → 0.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I found this by accident and started playing it because i was curious and I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE WHOLE FRANCHISE - and this is where it all started for me.
Started off my Ys experience with Ys VIII. I decided to play all of the other games in the series after becoming completely absorbed into the Ys universe. I've enjoyed all of them so far, but I'd been putting off the first two until now. This was primarily because of the "bump" combat system. Frankly, it just seemed like it would be pretty dated and not fun. While I can't really argue with those assessments, I still enjoyed this game a lot. The combat is not really a main focus of this game like it is with other Ys games. It's very simple and straightforward, and there aren't many times where I felt like it detracted from the experience. Except for the boss battles. But more on that later. Ys I feels more like a puzzle game, especially with all of the labyrinthine dungeons and events that require you to recall things that you heard a while ago or seemingly insignificant areas that you passed before. Using a guide is not a bad idea, particularly if you are averse to backtracking. All of the Falcom hallmarks are there. Well written story and characters, NPCs that add value to the overall world, and of course a killer soundtrack. So if you have enjoyed other Ys games and are curious about seeing where it all started, I would tell you to give this one a go. You can complete the game in about 6-8 hours pretty easily, even less if you use a guide. And if all you care about is catching up on the story, I would highly recommend you play on easy mode. Bosses are downright painful, ESPECIALLY the last boss. I'm convinced that whoever designed the final boss battle enjoys getting punched in the genitals first thing in the morning, every morning.
Seriously, the floor tiles disappearing was straight up masochistic
TLDR : Ys is absolutely incredible, and I would highly recommend playing this game at least once to see where it all began.
