The memorable adventure of Randi, Primm and Popoi is reborn as Secret of Mana! Originally released in 1993, Secret of Mana is by far the most popular title in the “Mana” series and has now undergone a much-awaited full 3D remake!

i played this in its original days on the SNES with my pops so i always do a playthru for him. I lost him in 2009
Game constantly crashes. Autosave helps from losing a lot of progress, but along with unnecessary load times, just find a way to play the original SNES version. A real shame. Also no online co-op never made much sense. Edit - There was a review of this game that kinda fixed my problem: "Find the game exe in the "Binary" folder of the Secret of Mana install folder > Right Click > Properties > Compatibility tab > Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" > In the now clickable dropdown choose "Windows 8"." It still crashes, but much less often. More specifically, if you are using your keyboard and mouse as well as a controller the automatic charge of a weapon to 100% starts crawling to a snail's pace. Just because I can somewhat play it does not change my review to positive. Square Enix could more than likely fix the game to work on something besides Windows 8 while still currently selling it on Steam in the year 2026 for 40 dollars.
Ridden with game-breaking bugs... (softlocks everytime right after I get Dryad -- I cannot finish the game) Spend your money elsewhere!
A childhood classic, but I can't recommend this version in good faith. Had several crashes, the last of which just as I was talking to an NPC to save my game.
Secret of Mana is my favorite game of all time so I will be beating the game regardless, but this remake is such a ham handed mess. The people who made it clearly never played the original on the SNES. IF you have a Switch, get Collection of Mana there, it will allow you to play the OG SNES version there. Rather than this remake being an homage to the original, it is a pale reflection of what could have been. Save your money, Play it any other way. Just no. SMH
I guess I recommend the remake, I wouldn't but 2 quick selection options on the menu makes it tolerable. This is the first game I fell in love with, didn't know it at the time I was only 6. I know the original wasn't a perfect game in terms of mechanics or AI but I feel like the remake didn't correct enough of the issues the original had. Its like the focus was purely on making it a 2.5d engine instead of what it was. The AI options for allies has a different system and its actually worse than the original, this is okay because your characters no longer get caught on grass/trees or rocks. Is that really what you want on a remake though, regression AND optimization? While I see this game with nostalgic love, it hurts to see how little effort was put into making this remake. Personally, I shouldn't want to stop a playthrough of a new remake to play the original instead but maybe I'm wrong that's just my opinion. 9/10 game 6/10 remake
Gamebreaking bugs that haven't been fixed, as an example you cannot get to the dwarf village because you can't hit the skull. This is one of my favorite games but stay away from this version.
As I played through my thoughts ran something like this: - The title screen is still pretty kino. And one button press gets you there instantly, nice! More games should do this instead of vomiting twelve unskippable splash screens at you every time you start it. - What the hell is this font, though? - The graphics are okay. Kinda cheap looking but capture the aesthetic of the original, if not entirely the charm. Better than the awful looking Adventures of Mana, but not as good as Trials. - Woof, this voice acting is pretty rough. - The music isn't bad, though! - This font, tho. :/ - Using the original graphics for the mini menu is kind of a ♥♥♥♥ move. I'm sure it's meant to be a nice nod to the original, but it just reminds me of how much better this could - and did - look. - Where'd the spinny animation go when you use the Cannon Travel?! Lame thing to cut. - The AI pathfinding is garbo. At least opening the menu regroups your party on you. - Hey, you can change to the original music! *changes it and never looks back* (I kinda feel bad about this now after the end credits informed me that THE Yuzo Koshiro did some of the new arrangements.) - Wish you could change back to the old font, tho. - I really don't care for these skits when you sleep at the inn. They manage to make everyone unlikeable. - Farming for rare drops still sucks. - ♥♥♥♥ this font, seriously. Not exactly a shining example of game preservation. If you grew up with the original it's a not unpleasant trip down a distorted and artistically inferior memory lane. But if you are a new player you will be forgiven for wondering why this was ever considered a classic. Part of me feels that, as Keiji Inafune might say, it's better than nothing. But the other part of me wonders, "Is it really?" I can't readily answer that in the affirmative and as such, I'm hard pressed to recommend it.
