First off, I want to compliment some parts of the game I downright enjoyed. The artwork, which from what I can tell was done by the developers fiancée, is downright gorgeous. Also the music is good too, my only wish would be that there was more of it and more variety, but with the indie nature of the game; I completely understand why there isn't that. I would like to add, there were some genuinely funny moments. But as the thumbs down shows, I do have my fair share of criticism for the game. Let's start with one that shocked me when I first bought the game. HOW IS IT 2GBs? I've played my fair share of VN's in the past; Doki Doki, several chapters of Higurashi When they Cry, and Milk Inside/Outside a Bag of Milk, and excluding the last two, the other two games are exponentially longer and take up far less space. There is also the aspect of storytelling, I have a few complaints here. One of them is that characters should be driving the plot forward, while one could argue that this is happening in Your Android, it feels unnatural. The two characters Float and Mr. Player at times feel indistinguishable from each other, this becomes increasingly an issue towards the middle and end of the game. Another story issue I have is the question of whether or not Float has a soul or emotions. The game never properly explores this concept to its full potential. The entire story surrounding that part just feels rushed and is full of contrivances.
The priest magically talking about marriage after Float got a dream message from, what I assume was God, telling her to get married to get a soul. Why not leave the dream message the same, make it so Float wants to go to church, the sermon is a normal one that doesn’t JUST HAPPENS TO START WITH TALKING ABOUT MARRIAGE, then after the sermon Float wants to talk with the father and ask about marriage. You still get the same end result, and it doesn’t feel contrived
. Turning towards the latter half of the game, there’s the issue where it feels like the writer’s barely disguised fetish is front-in-stage several times. The game feels like a first draft. There were some great ideas, like
Float’s dream scenarios
, where the art for the first one was stunning, and it is a shame that it lasted only like 10 seconds.
Float copying people getting angry (before it got ruined by the following sentences)
. The ideas were there, don’t get me wrong. But the game just felt like it rushed towards the end. I feel to tell the story the writer wanted to tell, the game needed to be longer and should have gone through a few more revisions as there are a lot of inconsistencies with Float.
Such as not understanding personal space, but knows what hanging out is. A large part of the game is her learning human nuances, yet she kept doings things like calling him “brokeass”. Occasionally she had an attitude to push the Mr. Player’s buttons. But at the beginning she didn’t even know how swearing worked. She can go from one extreme to another (or she can both at the same time), and the game acts as if nothing is wrong with that. It is hard to get invested in a story that constantly contradicts itself. It would be one thing if this was intentional but I don’t think it was, given how the game ended
.
IF YOU SET THAT ANDROID FREE IT'LL BE THE END OF ALL OF US! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The Vine boom effect scared me, and we yelled the word "Penis" back and forth. 10/10 absolute cinema.
Short, incredibly sweet. I love the humor, not sure what it says about me but this ♥♥♥♥ had me howling. The art in this one is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ superb and I love the writing as always. Overall, another massive Sigyaad W
i dont really do genuine reviews so this might sound lame as hell when im speaking but ill try my best. to no ones surprise, sigyaad has graced us with another amazing visual novel with outstanding art, beautiful music, and hilarious and to me personally, deep dialogue. starting out with what i think people will praise the most, i absolutely love everything about float. i loved seeing her dynamic with the protagonist and grow as a character. i loved seeing her learn to become more human. loved all of the running gags she inherits from the protag. and more importantly, how theres a small sense of "wow shes kinda relatable" to her at times. and ofc, the art done by sigyaad's fiance in the cg's and portraits really brings out the best out of float. letting everything else get its shine in the spotlight. the protag is hilarious and i like at times i found myself to be saying the same things he said at times, and how much he cares about float kicks in so quickly is so sweet. the story for an around 40-ish minute game is pretty damn good and i loved how it just suddenly ends after a certain scene. its just so peak i cant explain cuz i suck at it but if you have $5 and an hour of free time, i highly recommend to just do it and buy it if this is your 1st sigyaad game, otherwise if you're a sigyaad enjoyer, you already know the answer is yes to if you should buy it!
I wanna be mommy's sweet little baby...机娘机娘机娘我们需要更多更多的机娘🥺🥺🥺🥺
Overall, I really enjoyed playing this VN. The jokes as well as the romantic moments consistently made me smile, not just because they were well-timed with audio/visual changes, but because they felt sincere. Being about an android, it naturally comments on what it means to have a soul, and I feel that it also took that kind of soul to create the game itself. There's more to say about the high-quality art and references to the creator's previous games, but the authenticity of the love is what really sells the game for me. The only thing that I'm still curious about is the origin of the android, it isn't explained thoroughly, but it makes sense to leave the reader wondering. In short, It's very sweet, and was a good price for the hour I got from it.
A solid 60 minutes for 5 bucks, I enjoy the dumb humor the dev is known for and Float is cute and likable, art is good, music is good, only complaint is just wanting more of it. Time to "Make Some F*cking Pudding!~"
"I think I suffered brain damage, and I am slightly more compelled to be prejudiced against various ethnic groups." "Make some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pudding" "I come equipped with several taste buds to mimic the taste of a suburban white woman" Despite the jokes in this and how short it was, I wish this becomes a larger, longer series. Elaborating and extending upon this game with its current background may be a wise investment for long term monetary gain, alongside player satisfaction (which is already high given it's Sigyaad) boosting it into the stratosphere. The humour plays well into the pacing as such that it makes you enjoy the product with how ridiculous it can be at times. Akin to gazing in the wind, galloping on a horse alongside dozens of fellows into the sunset. This game has immense potential should it be followed up on.
