Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2/day in the week to Aug 14 → 2.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Games like this make me wish there was "Mid" rating. It's a perfect step back from it's predecessor in every way.
i dunno. 5.1/10 ? its... ok? if you really want some XCOM nostalgia? - lots of werid bugs that break immersion (but enough people have covered those) the cartoon art direction for a lot of the chars interactions really didnt click. and everyone is just... really unrealistic ? personality wise? they are all just quip heavy architypes. the main thing this game achieved was to make me wish the teaser at the end of XCOM2 had happened instead of... this? a lot of the missions really bug me as they dont make a lot of sense. like... your the cops / military, but most of the missions have you doing things and then running away from infinitely spawing enemies. its like swat running into a bank heist to save the hostages, then running out with them and taking off to leave the robbers in the bank. its not a horrible game, but i definately dont recommend it. it feels like a fan made mod from someone without a lot of times.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 19: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

This game is a product of the time period it was released. The writing and characters are so cringe.
This game cut almost everything fun from XCOM 1 and 2. I honestly regret buying it, but hey… support the developer or something, I guess. I want to enjoy the story and its characters, but the gameplay is way too frustrating even on 'normal' difficulty. Gone are the traditional troopers, now it’s just premade agents with insufferable personalities. Sure, one or two are likable, but I can’t stand playing this with such awful gameplay. The timeline system is suck ass I don’t even know what they were going for. And why can’t I bring more stuff? As if being capped at 4 squad members wasn’t enough, I can’t even carry 2 grenades? I hate it. Bring me back my freedom.
I have been avid enjoyer of the Xcom franchise. I loved all the spinoff games they did until this one came out. the mechanics just don't work well and like many others have said, it has all the bad of Xcom and none of the good. Even at a discount and buying the game at $3.79, I still wouldn't recommend. Go buy a Snickers bar, I bet you'll have more satisfaction and joy than if you bought this game.
You have almost no freedom at all — every mission is broken down into rigid “pushes,” which completely kills any real strategy. The whole game feels like “thinking on rails.” Your choices don’t matter; you’re just stuck with tiny, poorly designed maps that make no strategic sense. There’s often a large obstacle in the middle, and instead of acting intelligently, your squad runs all the way around it because the enemy is hiding behind it. I’ve rarely experienced such a poorly thought-out game design. If this had been my first X-Com game, I probably would have never touched the series again. What’s also incredibly annoying are these painfully dumb story segments, where the soldiers just mumble nonsense at each other. Honestly, I’d sacrifice every single one of them without hesitation, but that would only hurt me, and the idiotic story would just keep going anyway. I was really looking forward to a modern take on X-Com Apocalypse, but this is just terrible trash.
Just play XCOM 2 War of the Chosen instead. This is an almost objectively (and definitely subjectively) worse game than 1 and 2. Subjectively I think the breach mechanics are better than wondering around in the fog of war until one of your guys get ganked by a squad of aliens, but other than that this is pretty much a dumbed down WOTC. Having unique characters could be fine, but most of them are just slightly different versions of the basic XCOM classes. That could still be fine, except they limit you to having 8 agents, meaning you will have to replay the game if you want to try out the other 3. There really isn't any excuse for that. The writing is horrific millennial slop. Basically every piece of dialogue is a one liner straight out of a marvel movie. They also only get a couple of lines each so they will be repeating themselves every few actions. Instead of having a 6 man team you can only have 4, so the encounters are less interesting. There are three enemy factions, but you can only fight one and a time and then they seem to just be gone. The bosses are very underwhelming, the one I've fought so far just had more HP than a regular enemy from that faction. There is no base expansion, so the only things you really unlock as you go are from your assembly, but so far at least everything is +1 damage to weapons or hp.
Chimera Squad as a strategy game is Not a bad game, but when you attach the XCOM logo on it, it's below average at best. While I do understand that it's Not a sequel but rather an off shoot of the XCOM franchise and it's also a 10$ game, it's still a DISSAPOINNTEMENT to say the Least. The writing is right down awful and cringe, the gameplay is extremely repetitive after the first 10 hours, it was probably a side project for Firaxis to to do while they were working on their next flop which was the Marvel's game. Ultimately this product could have been better if they hired a good writer, that dialogue was awful and story is just plain bad with a watered down combat form XCOM 2, now Firaxis Games are gone and this is the last XCOM game we will get. A Sad End to an Amazing franchise and a once great studio with it.
Wow, everything about this game was a step down from the other xcom games. No swagger, no epic feel, annoying characters, lack of customization, cartoonish animation, limited ability upgrades. Very disappointing. Big fan of the other xcom games, but this was a big let down.
Its not a usual x-com game. Basically its castrated x-com. Yes its also turn based tactix but way cheaper, more childish and less complex than original xcoms. But if you like this kind of games it will still bring you 15-20 hours of joy. Recommend to buy with huge discount.
