Wunder: The Double-Sided Deckbuilder

Really fun game with a cool twist on the standard deckbuilders. The constant state of chance of coin flips keeps it interesting every round! Addictive as hell!!

I already played the demo before and loved it and now with the early access release it is still a lot of fun and I'm excited to see which improvements will come, which new features will be added and so on! If you like quota games WUNDER is a really unique and fun one! Oh and the best part if you are deep into a run and need to leave, no worries you can just quit the run and continue later :)

I've had the pleasure of doing some early playtesting pre-release on Wunder, accidently sunk a bit more time into it than I planned! I love games where I get to strategize broken combinations, and I get the same kick in this as I do in games like Balatro, but there's a bit of a twist here! Since the coins have two sides, it's not all about just trying to score the highest amount possible - going all in with one powerful coin might not work out if it lands on the wrong side! It's a balancing act of both making sure you make your coins powerful and reliable enough to beat the goal - when you get the choice to upgrade your coin to make it twice as powerful, or 10% more likely to land on heads... which do you pick?? Is your 70% heads chance enough to make your critical combo land with a couple of chances, or will chasing higher score lead to your loss? The game is great fun if you're into this kind of thing, looks & sounds good, has a good amount of variety, and dev has been making loads of improvements up to release, so hopefully that continues throughout early access! there's already a load of content here but I can't wait to see what's next! Plus I still have a bunch left to unlock!

Game has a simple gameplay loop with very cool complexities to explore, my first run I was proud of my coin giving me like 100 value and then on my second run i was able to make a single coin give 100,000. Reminds me of the fun parts of balatro, as somebody who loves deck builders and roguelikes this one has been a great addition, excited to see it grow in early access.

I’ll admit out of the gate that I’m not usually the biggest fan of deckbuilders. That said, a few games manage to break through that bias, and so far, Wunder has absolutely proven itself to be one of them. The premise is simple: flip coins and see how far they can take you. Beneath that simplicity, however, is an incredible amount of depth. With just under two hours of playtime at the time of writing, I’m already thinking about potential builds for future runs, which I think alone speaks to the quality of the experience. That’s not even mentioning the presentation, which is top-notch across the board. Given my general feelings toward the genre, I’m not sure how much long-term mileage I’ll personally get out of Wunder. Still, for anyone already invested in deckbuilders and looking for a fresh game to really sink their teeth into, this is an easy recommendation. Especially at its current price point.

My first run had a crazy clutch on one of the bosses, and me and my friend screamed during the call! Game is fun, runs great and I didn't have any issues. I think while at its core it looks like everything is just a 50/50 chance of occurring, you get a lot of different ways to modify and sculpt your build which let me get some crazy combos.

This game has awesome balance and depth for an early access game about flipping coins! It's really compelling. I like that it's a bit deceptive, everyone understands heads or tails, the game doesn't ask you to learn special hands or anything complex at all off the bat.. But in each run you find new items or rare coins that you really want to try and build around! I've played for a few hours on steamdeck, just using the touchscreen/ cursor, and you can see a little bit of UI overlap in places outside of the main gameplay, but it's perfectly playable. There's loads of challenge here too, I have only made it to river 3 so far just playing casually and my run normally ends before then.. I've seen on discord there's at least 8 levels and the scores can get silly big. It's a really well conceived game, easily worth twice the price I paid for it during deck builder fest.

Great game, im only on my 3rd run but I would like to see more! The art is really charming and gameplay very addictive!

I've really enjoyed playing this, its a really good twist on deckbuilders. I'm looking forward to seeing the development of this game as more things get added and improved. Definitely a game to play and keep an eye on.
