This game made my childhood awesome. so many memories coming back Thank you, Throwback Entertainment for bringing it back to Steam. it feels like getting a piece of my childhood again.
Trickstyle, oh how it takes me back! This classic game is a nostalgic journey that transports me to the golden days of gaming in my living room with friends. It encapsulates the excitement and camaraderie we shared as we delved into virtual worlds together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBIJa2yZBy8 Trickstyle offers an exhilarating experience with its futuristic setting and adrenaline-fueled gameplay. The freedom to perform gravity-defying tricks and maneuvers while racing against competitors adds an extra layer of thrill to the experience. The game's diverse array of characters and unique hoverboards promise to keep the action fresh and exciting. Each level in Trickstyle was a work of art, meticulously crafted to immerse players in a futuristic metropolis. The vibrant colors, intricate details, and dynamic lighting brought the world to life, making every race feel like an epic adventure. What truly made Trickstyle special, though, was and is its local multiplayer feature. Gathered around the television with friends, we would engage in heated competitions, pushing each other to new heights of achievement. The immense joy and laughter we shared during those gaming sessions are memories I hold dear. Trickstyle is more than just a game; it's a time capsule that captures the essence of gaming's past. It invites players to relive the excitement, competitiveness, and sense of wonder that defined an era. If you're longing for a nostalgic trip down memory lane or seeking an engaging racer with a touch of nostalgia, Trickstyle is the game for you.
I can throw away $6 and be perfectly fine with it. But what I can't do is own a game that doesn't work. All the controls are on my keyboard. My game controller doesn't work. I won't pay it with out these controls.
Yes, TrickStyle will deliver those nostalgic vibes, and I am grateful to have experienced this classic now because I never owned it on Dreamcast. But this game will test your patience. The slippery controls will undoubtedly give you the authentic feeling of riding a Back-to-the-Future-style hoverboard with no contact to the ground, which is, however, exactly what I found so frustrating. Buy TrickStyle if you like this kind of challenge and are a glutton for punishment like me.
This game is terribly broken. Before you can begin playing, you must first map inputs to your controller. The issue here is that the game doesn't signal which inputs correspond to their default buttons, requiring me to look up the original controller layout in the Dreamcast manual. Once the game begins, it's a fairly standard hoverboard racer with mildly jank controls. I frequently encountered issues where doing the luge would not connect me to a luge grind rail, but it never hindered my ability to win all races. That is, all but one race. The final race. The final race is a gauntlet of challenges which require mastery of the controls, with not a single checkpoint in sight. If you fall off the track, it's back to the beginning. The final obstacle in this sadistic gauntlet is none other than the luge grind rails, which I repeatedly failed to connect to. As a result, I spent more hours on the final race than I did the rest of the game. It took me two and a half hours to reach it, and three hours just to finish it.
i played this back in the day on the dreamcast... decided to search it on steam and i found it! instant buy! although this game is missing some songs from the original, it was still fun to play i wish the game had more levels. but i truly enjoyed my time playing this game
Merits: ▪ Stylish visuals & unique setting ▪ A good selection of tracks & racers ▪ Trick system ▪ Sweet, sweet nostalgia Flaws: ▪ Short ▪ Dated graphics ▪ UI does not scale for modern resolutions ▪ AI is not very good, making the races super easy Verdict: TrickStyle is a futuristic hoverboard racing game released originally for the Sega Dreamcast. It's cool for nostalgia's sake but does not stand up for today's standards. The controls are pretty janky and the UI scales terribly. Graphics and vibe is still good but I cannot recommend it for new players. Rating: ★★★☆☆ - Above Average
I like it.
Bought this mostly for nostalgia. I remember playing a demo from a magazine years ago, ScreenFun, not sure if it was German or Serbian. That demo stuck with me, so getting the full game now just feels like finally coming back to it.
