About
Worlds Upon the Wind is a peaceful roguelite deckbuilder about rebuilding a shattered civilization after the apocalypse. Shape forests, deserts, and ruins through careful planning and resourcefulness, rather than conflict. Guide settlers across drifting world shards, nurturing new communities and weaving new traditions as you restore life to forgotten lands. Embark on a journey of restoration and community in this tactical game for those who prefer to take their time and weigh their choices.

Assemble your deck from hundreds of powerful Glyphs and unique Relics, each offering new strategic possibilities. Use glyphs to transform the environment and manipulate your chances with powerful invocations. Craft glyphs, balance your deck, and develop unique builds to adapt to the ever-changing landscape and challenges.

Face hundreds of dilemmas with no right answers. Keep wildlife at a distance or invite them into your cities? Preserve violent artwork or destroy it? Sacrifice safety for dangerous alchemical experiments, or seek harmony at the cost of productivity? Choices shape the outcome of your expeditions, as well as the contents of your deck.

Explore procedurally-generated world shards filled with different biomes, events, challenges, and opportunities. Every choice shapes the fate of your settlers and grants new glyphs and relics to transform your deck. Every run offers unique gameplay opportunities and insights that unlock new skills for future runs. And every budding community you establish leaves a mark, no matter how small.

Pacify restless spirits haunting the world shards, and befriend 15 unique animal companions through their own questlines, each offering a game-changing ability to help in future runs.

Immerse yourself in a unique visual style that traces the evolution of Japanese art from ancient picture scrolls to the different styles of Japanese woodblock prints. Serene landscapes, gentle music, and classical hand-painted scenes invite you to reflect and savor each moment as you're planning your next move.

If you're learning Japanese, this game offers completely optional kanji learning minigames with thousands of vocabulary and example sentences to complete, deeply integrated into the game, as well as options to display titles in kanji or kana, with dictionary tooltips.

This game is a treasure. The puzzle solving and deck building elements are engaging and are satisfying to a certain part of my brain. The love letter to Japanese art and language makes it something truly special. I have not played a game this fun in a long time.
What a beautiful, wonderful game. The puzzle of the game feels similar to playing Slay the Spire, but the overall tone and feel of the game is much more relaxed and sort of cozy. I strongly recommend it if it looks even slightly interesting to you!

One of the best games I have played in a while! I could not think of anything bad to say even if I tried. :)
Very pleasant. Extra points for keeping my demo save file!
This game is delightful. I'm only just starting to dip my toes into it, but it is just so charming, on top of the fun gameplay. The visual style is great and the game is fun, but where this game truly shines in my mind is just all the things it does on top of it. Providing you with the ability to view the art history that inspired the artwork in the game, optional japanese-practice minigames... There's a lot to mention here, but it is just such a lovely game to play and experience.
At a glance this reads like "another roguelite deckbuilder": glyphs instead of cards, relics instead of jokers, run to run to run. And sure, that's the skeleton. But it keeps introducing new systems at a steady, well-judged pace, so it never feels like you've seen the whole game after a few hours. What won me over is that a run is never just about surviving the next encounter. There's always something longer-term pulling at your decisions, which gives the moment-to-moment play a weight that a lot of deckbuilders don't have. It also earns the "peaceful" tag without going shallow. The glyph and relic pool is deep enough that a run can genuinely spiral into something you didn't plan, once a few pieces start compounding. In that sense it reminds me of Reus 2: a gentle, thoughtful surface hiding a system with real depth, where the satisfaction comes from watching something you shaped grow into more than the sum of its parts. If you've ever picked up a deckbuilder hoping for more going on beneath the surface, this one delivers on that.
Very satisfying cozy deckbuilder.
A very rare exploration game, dripping with theme. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to try something new.
I played the demo for 4 hours and realized--I had to buy the game. I generally do not play deck builder games, but this one grew on me. The lovely art and mellow music make it very easy to keep playing one more shard. Give it a try. You'll want to buy it too. :)
Amazing game! The way the mechanics build as you progress is so good, as well as how the mechanics connect to the writing and to quests. Highly recommended.
