A wonderfully challenging little game! Simple controls, but lots of depth in strategy. Super satisfying when you line things up just right, or get a huge bomb to go off. It's also really addictive to play! Definitely has that "one more run" feeling to it. It's a lot of clicking, but having the option to use Q and E for movement and dashing is a great for accessibility.
Witch Dance is an extremely simple, extremely addictive and extremely fun little game with lovely pixel art and a simple soundtrack that doesn't ever feel grating even after almost an hour of constant play. The premise of the game is that you control the witch with a mouse button, dodging enemies as they spawn and move around the map while collecting mana drops. You can then spend those mana drops to teleport to where your mouse is, dealing damage to every enemy between your current position and your mouse position equal to the number of enemies you teleport through. There is also a bar at the top of the screen that will show an enemy type for you to target ad if you kill enough of them before the timer runs out you'll earn some points and an illusion charge that you can use with the middle button on the mouse to attract the enemies to a position on the map. If that sounds good, give the game a try.
Such a genuinely fun game. Gifted a copy to help test and try the best score pre-launch and it became the main use of my spare time. The mechanics are simple, and the enemies don’t change, yet the more you play the better you’ll be at finding good paths to run, when to make a risky move, and how to get those perfect lineups. Starts easy but can build up difficulty real quick if you don’t manage the enemies well. Not sure what skill set works best for getting a leg up in this but as someone with minimal bullet hell experience I was able to pick it up quick. Broke 1,000 points around 3 hours, 2,000 around 7. From there, you kind of understand what you want to do, it’s just a matter of doing it. 5,000 sounds like a whole different beast though once you get there! Highly recommended if you want something easy to pick up and put down and feel some good progress as you do.
the gameplay is so addictive and just like in radix the soundtrack is really good <3
Look,,, Is the game harder than it seems? Yes. Am I one of the last people to try and bang my head against a wall? Also yes. However Is there even a wall to concuss yourself on when it's just your own high score? I think nomana nomana nomana (The first few dozen games go by so damn fast you won't even notice it's been (checks current playtime) 25 minutes. [EDIT] Now barely 6 hours in I got my first 1k score! YATTA~) I also checked it on the deck, it CAN be played with the touchpad and triggers but your thumb will Not Like It. Also the move and attack commands are intuitive enough but once I got just enough decoys to want to place one I didn't know what to press... and I didn't want to experiment further either lol
This game may look easy at a glance, but it is deceptively challenging once you begin for the first time. The movement and attacking are very fluid and intuitive, but the enemy waves can stack up on you quick while you manage your mana and decoy resources. If you're a fan of shmup games, or just fast-paced challenging games in general, I would definitely recommend this title, especially for the price. It's very easy to get into and even when you lose it just draws you in for more runs, and when you hit your first big milestone score wise, nothing feels quite like it. Very much worth the purchase!
A very cool and addictive small game, the perfect thing to play between other tasks (be aware that there might be a two hours gap between those tasks in that case). The mechanics are simple and effective, but you'll have to think a bit about the strategies. The feeling is quite addictive and you'll want to launch just one more game, especially after running headfast into a pumpkin at 500+ points
There is something special about this little game. I bought it to support the developer knowing it was a game about getting a high score which is usually not my thing. Yet, here I am with 10 hours played at the time of review. Once you get your first taste of setting a bomb off a shotting up past 1,000 points and you're desperately trying to complete missions for points while also keeping enough enemies alive for your next big bomb to shoot your score up even higher before you inevitably fall to a single enemy you didn't see or predict correctly. I've really fallen into a "just one more" mindset when I play this because I know I can do better, I know I can score higher. But even if I stopped now, 10 hours for a $2.99 game is pretty good in my eyes. The music is also very good, I've died sometimes because I try to move the character in beat with the music or move in place to cause ripples in line with the beat. Its only a few bucks, give it a shot and get on the monthly leaderboard.
Very nice, very fun little "click-em up" game. Very accessible and easy to pick up and play when you have time. Addicting gameplay loop that keeps you coming back for "just one more run". Great music tracks that never get repetitive even after hours of gameplay. Gameplay systems are much deeper than they might appear at the surface level, and if you really want to chase that high score you'll need to take advantage of them all. Whether you like old school arcade style hi-score chasing games or just want something quick to play to pass some time, Witch Dance offers you a lovely experience that is well crafted and obviously built by someone with passion for the medium.
This is so much fun. The characters are so cute, the music is awesome and the soundeffects are dope. Its the perfect in-between-chores game. At first it looks easy, just click and try to hit multiple enemies at once but when you try to go for the big numbers it gets very challenging. Trying to bait and herd the enemies, thinking up strats how to best line them up for a big shot, the premise is simple, the execution is not.
