About

Touhou Renkyouto is a linear top-down bullet hell title starring the green-eyed Parsee Mizuhashi. Adventure through five original levels, from the Underworld to the surface and back again, to solve an incident involving stray spirits causing chaos, and maybe help Parsee realize her love along the way.

"It's festival day in the Former Capital. The perfect day to finally confess my feelings to her!"
However, all is not well when Parsee encounters a few errant spirits ruining the festival and her confession along with it. She has to be the one to solve this seemingly simply incident, but what of the incident within her heart?
"Don't worry, it'll be fine! Nothing could go wrong in such a nice day."
Will she make it in time before the festivai is over? Venture forth to the oft ignored parts of the land of Gensokyo, from the streets of Former Hell, to the Forest of Magic, the Garden of the Sun and the Palace of Earth Spirits.

Touhou Renkyouto is a bullet hell fangame based on the world-renowned Touhou Project. Unlike many other bullet hell games, Touhou Renkyouto focuses both on verticality and horizontality. You'll be free to explore the 5 levels included in the game, save for the occasional bullet coming your way from any direction. Every level has unique enemies with unique bullet patterns to learn and (hopefully) dodge.
After defeating an enemy, you'll get to collect the P-points dropped by them to power up Parsee's attack. With enough P-points, you'll also be able to get out of a tricky situation by bombing your way out and clearing the screen of those pesky bullets. At the end of every level is a tricky boss fight, each complete with several intricate bullet patterns, which will require all your wits and P-points to beat.
At the end of every level, you'll be able to buy a new items from a pool of 14 unique items. Your friendly neighborhood scam artist trader will provide you with the goods. Use these well to navigate through the difficult later stages (or don't, if you're looking for a challange)!
Team Minty&Cabbages is a small two-person team with lots of love for the Touhou Project. We did our best to give an enjoyable experience whether you're a fan of Touhou or you're just someone looking for a shoot 'em up.
Arzvet did the programming, sound design and the character pixel art.
The Cabbage Preacher did the character sprites, stage art, dialogue and gametesting. "I hope that this game will be enjoyed as much as the John Brown Isekai."
We hope that you'll have a good time playing our game.

When i saw this game, from my knowledge the first fan game of my beloved Parsee, i was exhilarated to pay attention and buy this game, things quickly changed when i saw the base premise of the game's story, and how it was going to proceed. However, i decided to commit, finished the game, and i'll give this game a honest review, despite my own thoughts. The game itself is fully responsive. What you press, Parsee will rightfully respond. The Controls are simple enough, and aren't hard to learn. Rarely i felt like a death of mine was due to the controls failling or being unresposive. Navigating the menu is just fine. Being able to set your own controls is very good too, as if the base controls are not what the player is feeling, having the hability to change is very good. I would at least add a way to skip cutscenes. The soundtrack and sound effects are quite fair too. Sound effects drinks heavily from the Touhou games, and theres no complaint there, as this is something expected, and appriciated. The Soundtrack is fun arragement of well known songs, and they sound super good, as they capture the feel of the original games really well, while giving its unique spin to sound pretty well. Thats also comes along with the spritework, with is charming and pleasing to see in action, making this game aesthetically nice. Ingame, the top down bullet hell game feels good to do. Shooting down enemies and dodging bullets, enemies and pellets feels good, and the usage of items and power ups is a interesting way to shake up how the core game works, and since the items are randomized per run, you're able to have quite the interesting fresh start in case you want to go again. Not only that, as the game also allows you to freely move through the scenario, and its fun exploring the scenario and taking the paths you want so you can reach the same result, making it a bit less linear in some stages. However, this game has glaring problems that starting biting around on the later levels. The Enemies are too tanky and you never deal more damage. Even when focusing down a enemy at point blank with maximum power and focus, the enemy was still able to go through two rotations of his move, it feels unecessary, as most of the time it started to drag encounters, as enemies should've been defeated awhile ago. Becoming a tiring experience, and i was left wondering why my spread damage felt like the same as my focus damage. With is a nice segway to my next point with the difficulty of this game. Its all over the place. Encounters don't feel like a steady progress, as it feels like a roller coaster. Enemy combinations, and the arena they spawn might end up being a unfair fight with how tight the space may be and how the enemies don't die, or might be a joke because for some reason this time the enemy died quickly, and the area is too big for any of the enemies shots to even be a problem. This also applies to the bosses. As most of the Bosses were exactly threatning, and they felt more easy then the stage itself, felling more like a breather then a actual challenge, with is what a boss is supposed to be, but this completely changes as the jump of difficulty of one boss to the other, was from a walk in the park to running a Marathon, sunddely the bosses started to being challenging, with wasn't consistent to the whole experience of the game. And thats not counting the incredibely Janky hitbox sometimes, where sometimes i was hit where i was clearly outside the shot visual indicator, with discouraged grazing the shots. The story of this game is questionable at best. Some writing decisions made me frown or wonder what was passing on the writer's head. However, thats a pure bias towards something i shall not get too into. This part is completely on me. The story may appeal to you, and hopefully it does. However, another detail that is very important, was a Lack of In game characterization of Parsee. I didn't feel like i was exactly...playing Parsee. We have her Nails has her focus shots, and UI is green to reflect her overall theme...However, theres very little of her well known moves and spellcards when playing her. The fact i was collecting items, using them for my advantage felt like i was more playing Seija or Marisa then actual Parsee. It Lacked stuff like Green eyed Monster, Tongue cut sparrow, and other well know things that Parsee does, making the feel of the game feels less like i was playing the Jealousy monster, then expected of a game starring her, with was incredibly disapointing. Overall, its a fun game, that can get frustrating with tiny details that will pile up after sometime, questionable choices, and other decisions that are weird, but it doesn't turn the game bad. The game is acceptable, and i can see myself replaying it. Would i recommend this game? Yes. its 10 bucks. its a fine game with loads of problems, but it doesn't ask for much. Despite the glaring problems, its a game you can pick up and play and have fun. I recommend buying it if you have spare money, and you want to have some good ol' bullet hell fun with the Jealousy Princess Parsee. Its a completely serviciable game that i had fun with.
A very solid touhou fan game. Its rather simple, yet challenging. Easy to pick up, hard to master. Past the middle of the game the bosses become very fun puzzles, you slowly learn their moves, and adapt with your items, so you never feel like you have to learn every move a boss has. The items have a nice variety, with most saving you from getting hit in one way or another. The pixelart is very well done, the character art is pretty cute. The music is very touhou-esque, in other words - a bop. All the weak spots that the game has are quickly overshadowed by the fun parts. No death felt like bs to me. If you've never played a real bullet hell game, like me, this is a good introduction, if you love bullet hell, then you'll probably love this as well. Very good for a solid couple hours of fun. I also recommend reading the John Brown Isekai made by the artist The Cabbage Preacher, its also a very solid novel,
Stumbled across this game by complete accident during what was probably my 100th time searching for Parsee, glad I did! It's not everyday I find an enjoyable game where you can play as my favourite character! It also has Yuuparu, which makes it 10x better. I do wish your progress saved though, as exiting the game via the menu only leaves me with the option to start a new game, which was unfortunate :(
A really fantastic game! While it does boast the difficulty that Touhou games are known for, the curve of difficulty eases you into it. With a lot of items to play with, it really does offer a fun experience. A must-play fan game!
Good parsee game, love from China.
