horrible! I paid 7$ and still feel ripped off. They had such an amazing formula with Void Bastards but they took the most frustrating elements of that game and turned it into one. The rng in Void made it tense and fun. The rng in this makes it feel frustrating and broken. The world is less interesting. The maps are less interesting. The character's are honestly less interesting then the non-voiced player characters of the original. I pray the go back to Void's formula and make second one with a new face lift. aVOID this game, it sucks and I regret every second I played of it.
It feels like a big step down from Void Bastards (which I enjoyed). Plays really slow and the maps seem really dull and uninteresting. Hope you enjoy it more than I did - wait for a sale to pick it up.
Man this one hurts to write because I had such high hopes for this game. The game is a roguelike where you collect new characters and add them to your posse. Thats it, thats the entire game. Theres not really a story besides some idle chatter. Theres a pointless board game with moves that just seems to waste a bunch of time, you collect some stuff, then you spawn on a small map and just have to kill the 4-10 people that spawn there. Theres 4-5 total environments, all of which are basically empty with some buildings for cover and high ground and thats about it. You do this for like 4-5 levels then collect a person and add them to your party. Then do this for 15 hrs or so over and over and thats the game. The fun part is getting all the characters and seeing how they play, and they are very different. But even that could have been done better. All characters have 1 weapon and 1 special power, and thats it. You level them up and collect gear but its only stat bonuses, you'll play the same with every character from when you first get them until the end of the game. Upgrading characters with new weapons, alternative fire, or new powers would have kept things novel. You fight the same enemies throughout the game as well. The game adds annoying factors to prolong game length. Theres a charge meter which is a good idea because it keeps you from using certain guys too much. But then also for no reason some can get lost during landing meaning you need to go and rescue them, this being the people you have already rescued originally in the game earlier. Oh and 2/3 through the game 75% of your team gets recaptured and you have to go RESCUE THEM AGAIN......WTF?! Oh and theres this useless feud system that for no apparent reason characters suddenly can't be q'd together, which was already addressed with charge, so why add this useless constraint as well. All of these systems just seem to add more annoyance and prolong the barebones game. Then after rescuing everyone again and then rescuing more random people that aren't even characters the game just......ends. Theres no boss fight, no real anything. I kept looking up how to beat the game because the game just felt so repetitive and arbitrary that it just kept going after I rescued everyone, but thats this game in a nutshell. The look and feel of the game is decent, and impressive varied character creation that all have a unique feel. But the rest of the game is a repetitive, shallow, boring slog. 6/10.
While core gameplay loop is fun the awful map layouts and random enemy spawns is what kills it for me. Too many times i was have a sniping duel with a enemy only for another enemy with a shotgun to teleport up a ladder (there's no climbing animation or climbing sound effect) and i would die in a nano second because you have to rely on the enemy yelling at you in order to keep track of them. Void Bastards is a way better game.
kinda fun but the levels are all pretty small and repetetive. also some of the enemy types are just bad, one that poisons you and runs away. super annoying and time wasting. game looks cool. wish it was more of a borderlands feel where you just have an ability you can use so often. not having to run around and grabbed pickups. also they make the judge look good in the preview but when you actually use him he has one bullet and if you miss you are stuck with a reallllyy long reload.
I liked Void Bastards, the cat and mouse element of it was cool. This game feels like the next step up: you're the cat, but there's a fox out there coming to get you (the Princes). I just finished the campaign and am getting into the challenges, and I'm having a great time. The only big downside is that several of the characters are considerably better than others: Fletch, Judge, and Sarge are all leagues better than every other character, while Rawhide is pretty much just a walking passive because their gun is so awful without the right upgrades.
A very underrated gem, it one of the funniest and the most adtictive fps on stream. The graphichs are great and the cast of charcet is funny. The gameplay is amazing, an fps with tachtical elements, where your decisions really matters. A must play, one of the best fps released in the last years, origianl and super adictive!!!
A shallow, empty feeling game. I really enjoyed the previous game, Void Bastards, so I grabbed this in a sale thinking it would be worth it. It was not. They removed all the style, substance, strategy and story from the first game and created this mess.
Void Bastards was waaaaaay better. This one did not catch me at all. I wish they would rather do Void Bastards 2, that would be AMAZING! (and please add HOLD to Crouch, toggle-only option is really annoying)
Took about 10 hours on the Very Hard difficulty. Fun roguelike with an interesting premise of picking up different characters along the way that do better in certain fights. Can get some overpowered mods and abilities. Some enemies are really not suited to some characters, which is a bit of a harsh, first-time learning curve. Overall, fun game.
