Loot and craft as you explore. Lob a tasty sausage roll as a diversion, or poison a kebab for bait. Sneak up and knock a monster out with a whack from a cricket bat, or slice them up with a chainsaw. Tranquillize them with a dart fired from a homemade blowpipe, or set them alight with a DIY flamethrower. There's over a hundred useable items to loot or craft!

Use stealth to sneak, leftover food to distract, weapons to attack, or if all else fails, run! But be very careful - one bite and you'll be ripped apart to become a tasty snack for monsters! Violence is your last resort. Sneaking, skullduggery, and ambush are your tactics.

I remember getting this game years ago from a Steam coupon from crafting a badge. I think it was 90% off, and still this game has numerous downfalls: Many achievements are broken. I just recently reinstalled the game because new achievements came out for the intro, 11th, and 12th level completion. Loaded up save file, finished level 12, no achievement. Went to the intro level. Finished it, no achievement. Then decided to reset all progress and try to speedrun the game because maybe my current save is causing no achievements to pop up. Finished the introduction (Pub) level in three minutes, no achievement. Game has a finicky level selection/progression save system. I feel like the game saves every level you completed, and never really knows what level you're currently on. I have to hit new game, and even then it gives me the entire level listing. Then loads up random items I haven't touched since completing that level. Fix these two issues, and this game would likely be worth $9.99 maximum. And even that price point is being generous. Do not purchase unless you want to waste a couple hours. Even then, go watch a movie. Read a book. Pet a puppy. A complete robbery of a game for $34.99. A crappy game for $3.49.
Bop the zombos on their head. That's where they're stupid.
I played for 80 minutes before card farming. The crafting system is neat, with nothing groundbreaking. The stealth system isn't well done, with enemies seeing you more often than they should. I do like the randomized level layout. The game doesn't encourage you to explore the surroundings, but it is required in order to find key cards for progression. I once threw a stick of dynamite, killed 8 zombies at once, only to come back and have 5 more show up. They weren't the snake-like creatures that spawn out of bodies. it was simply an open middle finger for me trying to be clever WITH THEIR SYSTEM. Be a stealth game, be a crafting survival game, be an action game. Just make up your mind when trying to hybrid genres. Be a crafting game with stealth and reward me for exploring. Shouldn't be difficult, yet it was. 4/10 Too frustrating to recommend, but a good class on how design went wrong.
game is fun and all but why is it 35 dollars (edit its now 10 dolla)
luv me bangas an' mash luv gud level design an fouken luv me bri'un m8 god bless fumbs up from me ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The game has its flaws and complications but I've been also having fun with it. It has plenty of interesting mechanics and gizmos to use to navigate the monster-infested streets and buildings. I like having to weigh the risks and choose when to scavenge and when to play it safe, and also which resources and items to spend in each given obstacle along the way.
Combat mechanics are awful, but it doesn't seem like combat is the way to go anyway. It seems to be more about stealth, even though there are no stealth mechanics. This game seems to desperately hope to become interesting by making it demanding, putting more enemies than you can handle, all of whom one-shot you. Difficulty cannot make up for fatal flaws such as poor design and poor gameplay, however.
Une ambiance de dingue, à la fois flippant et marrant. Un gameplay et un level design aux petits oignons. Si vous avez adoré Teleglitch, vous allez aimer, le concept est très proche mais plus axé sur la furtivité.
Trash
Always was a good game. The price reduction and recent update just make it better. One thing I really like about Basingstoke is the inventory system. Inventory is unlimited during levels, which is quite rare for a stealth game. Between stages you are limited in how many items you can take with you to the next stage (you can choose anything that you found), and you start with a handful of slots but can increase this amount by 1 slot each stage if you find the briefcase and make it out alive. This creates a satisfying reward system for exploration that does NOT punish you for picking up absolutely everything. Along with all of the secrets to find, the characters to unlock, and the creepy and zany atmosphere (the ambience and background noises are very good), this is definitely a hidden gem... as are honestly all of Puppygames' titles.
