About

Warlord: Awaji is the second entry in a series of immersive strategy games created by Darkmatter Games. Step into the shoes of a legendary samurai warlord, given special command and orders from the Emperor to conquer an entire island and save a regime teetering on the edge of collapse.
A unique combination of first-person strategy elements places Warlord: Awaji in a genre of its own. Immersive strategy, pioneered by Darkmatter Games, fixes the player in the shoes of their character, while presenting them with complex strategic gameplay. Lead an army, construct your camp, conquer villages and forts, and disrupt dynamic enemy forces in a sprawling open world–entirely from this immersive strategy perspective. Turn the tide of battle by engaging directly in the action yourself, fighting alongside your own hand picked warriors fully in real time.
The world of Warlord: Awaji is a sprawling island created using real heightmap data of its eponymous location, replete with dozens of temples and shrines from real life. Travel the roads cautiously and keep your eyes on the treelines, as civilian convoys and roaming warrior bands criss-cross the open world in real time. The local clans will react aggressively to your exploits, so choose your actions carefully. Strategically target strongpoints to weaken enemy quick-reaction forces. Capture rival clans' shrines to boost your spiritual aura and harm theirs. Work with esoteric warrior monks to curse your enemies and coordinate powerful coalition attacks.
Your warriors are your most important weapon. Recruit and maintain a powerful retinue of samurai. Use conquered land to promote leaders and expand your army's capacity while organizing its battle formation in any way you like using an intuitive drag-and-drop menu. Each individual has a unique name and gains experience over time through heroic action. Give your best warriors advanced weapons and armor to boost their lethality in combat. Form diverse groups of melee, ranged, and cavalry troops. Mix and match to find the best army composition and crush the opposition.
Construct a samurai war camp anywhere in the open world. Pitch tents and provide your troops with a variety of needs, including sleep, rest, and sustenance. Put up screens and fences to establish a perimeter. Set guards to keep watch in the dark hours of the night. At any time, you may pack up and relocate your camp, allowing for complex strategic maneuvers. Decide where and when to set up your base, and which direction to move in as you explore the vast open world.
All of the weapons, armor, structures, names, and gameplay elements are inspired directly from extant literary, iconographic, and archeological sources. Darkmatter Games, with the help of world leading experts on samurai warfare, has painstakingly recreated the 14th century world of medieval Japan in unrivaled detail. Historical authenticity is the core element of the Warlord franchise. Prepare to experience the visceral world of the samurai like never before seen.

Overall good game and a unique concept. Performance is good too I haven't had any issues even with maxed settings from what I've experienced so far, I have an army of about 24 at the moment. The army creation and organizational structure is cool, and the camp creation is fun to play around with to make aesthetically pleasing camps. From what I've seen in other reviews it's people essentially speedrunning then complaining they're running out of content. I just broke into the second questline area and unlocked the bows and naginatas for the first time and there's still quite a lot of weapons and armor and ammunition types for me to unlock, so I think the people complaining for the more part are going through really quick and not playing at the intended pace. Take a step back, slow down, and enjoy the game and the camp building. For the developer, I do agree with other people that I believe there should be more variety to all of the settlements. Granted I don't make games and don't know how it works but maybe if you have something like a "modular structure" system where it'll procedurally generate settlements based on premade structures to give more life to the settlements and making them unique from each other. Additionally maybe having samurai have their own parties which will fight and conquer independent of you? (It's entirely possible that this is already in the game and I haven't already done it so please excuse me if that's the case) Other than that I really enjoy the game and look forward to seeing what's added in the future, and the art style is definitely cool and unique in it's own way.
希望以后能坐下、能睡觉跳过夜晚;能建造或者占领宅邸和堡垒作为固定大本营。长矛、薙刀攻击距离感觉有点短。
Overall a very pleasant experience so far, a major overhaul from its predecesor warlord brittania, the combat is simple but fun, the variety of weaponry give players plenty of options for each encounter, and the equipment and landscape fit the setting very well and play towards an immersive environment, if you've ever played a warlord game or just enjoy building up your army and camp while managing logistics, id highly reccomend, if you never played anything like it there will be a learning curve, but once passed you will have a great time, building your army and conquering awaji.
fun
Took a good week or so to finish. It was pretty fun managing retinue positions and designing the base camp. Slashing felt oddly satisfying.
Having a good time so far
this game is similar yet different from warlord Britannia. we have the core gameplay loop of walk to place, attack, go back to base (BUT WE NOW HAVE A FAST TRAVEL BACK TO CAMP AND TO MAJOR LANDMARKS ON THE MAP!!! this was a feature that the last game really needed.) promoting your units now depends on how much land you have and is not tied to days or kills, building is no longer a really easy thing, you now get building materials from conquered land or can buy then from neutral factions. like warlord britannia i expect that the late game will become more laggy and possible unplayable it you don't have a strong enough computer. overall like the game so far
