About

Warlord: Awaji is the second entry in a series of immersive strategy games created by Darkmatter Games. Step into the shoes of a legendary samurai warlord, given special command and orders from the Emperor to conquer an entire island and save a regime teetering on the edge of collapse.
A unique combination of first-person strategy elements places Warlord: Awaji in a genre of its own. Immersive strategy, pioneered by Darkmatter Games, fixes the player in the shoes of their character, while presenting them with complex strategic gameplay. Lead an army, construct your camp, conquer villages and forts, and disrupt dynamic enemy forces in a sprawling open world–entirely from this immersive strategy perspective. Turn the tide of battle by engaging directly in the action yourself, fighting alongside your own hand picked warriors fully in real time.
The world of Warlord: Awaji is a sprawling island created using real heightmap data of its eponymous location, replete with dozens of temples and shrines from real life. Travel the roads cautiously and keep your eyes on the treelines, as civilian convoys and roaming warrior bands criss-cross the open world in real time. The local clans will react aggressively to your exploits, so choose your actions carefully. Strategically target strongpoints to weaken enemy quick-reaction forces. Capture rival clans' shrines to boost your spiritual aura and harm theirs. Work with esoteric warrior monks to curse your enemies and coordinate powerful coalition attacks.
Your warriors are your most important weapon. Recruit and maintain a powerful retinue of samurai. Use conquered land to promote leaders and expand your army's capacity while organizing its battle formation in any way you like using an intuitive drag-and-drop menu. Each individual has a unique name and gains experience over time through heroic action. Give your best warriors advanced weapons and armor to boost their lethality in combat. Form diverse groups of melee, ranged, and cavalry troops. Mix and match to find the best army composition and crush the opposition.
Construct a samurai war camp anywhere in the open world. Pitch tents and provide your troops with a variety of needs, including sleep, rest, and sustenance. Put up screens and fences to establish a perimeter. Set guards to keep watch in the dark hours of the night. At any time, you may pack up and relocate your camp, allowing for complex strategic maneuvers. Decide where and when to set up your base, and which direction to move in as you explore the vast open world.
All of the weapons, armor, structures, names, and gameplay elements are inspired directly from extant literary, iconographic, and archeological sources. Darkmatter Games, with the help of world leading experts on samurai warfare, has painstakingly recreated the 14th century world of medieval Japan in unrivaled detail. Historical authenticity is the core element of the Warlord franchise. Prepare to experience the visceral world of the samurai like never before seen.

Enhances the Warlord experience 10/10 good game
Genuinely one of the most addicting games ive played, the only reason i paused playing it was so i could get warlord britannia. Its very easy to pick up and if you like games like bannerlord its familiar grounds.

Just an amazing game all around, yes it still does need performance improvements. Another fantastic game in the franchise.
The game is huge. Like really, really, big. I've been walking around for a loong time. Its decent visually. the game has great potential if they keep working on it. Would be a good VR port cause its melee combat in ancient Japan. Too cool.
Even if you only have an eigth of the required VRAM needed you can still run at 5 fps, although it does need a options update
游戏不错,不过可惜不能排兵布阵啊 只能一股脑冲锋太糙了
me gusta, la simplicidad de la meta del juego
As a Japanese history buff this game is hitting pretty hard. I've played sengoku dynasty, shogun 2, and GoT. Even with GoT being a AAA game I feel like this game has the potential to at least match its gameplay value if the dev provides future content updates. I have only gotten 3 hours in but I will update if my impression is off due to the time spent in game. As of right now I am enjoying the game, but do see room for improvement in certain aspects. However, with this being a solo dev I feel like they deserve a lot of praise for what they have given us so far. Things I would like to see: 1. I want more things to do in camp. As of right now it seems like camp is mainly just a way to heal your troops, but I think it would provide more satisfaction if there were ways to build memorable moments with your warriors. I want to feel something when someone dies in battle. 2. Increased backlash from enemy clans. They should be more aggressive and attempt to retake areas the player has conquered. I think this would help the player feel more immersed in the world and keep the player on their toes. Maybe allow the player to station warrior in areas they feel are vulnerable to attack. 3. More mechanics involving the areas you have conquered. I think it would be a good idea to add something that makes the player feel more rewarded when conquering the key points of a region. Maybe give the player an option to command troops from afar instead of always fighting on the front lines. 4. I think more diplomacy options would tie everything together. The world would feel more alive if there was more to the game than taking your troops to the next point and painting the map. I am not a game developer so I don't know how difficult implementing these ideas would be, but I wanted to offer feedback anyways. I really appreciate everything that has been done so far and am excited for what is to come in the future. For anyone wondering if they should purchase the game, I would recommend it if you have been craving this particular setting. If you are looking for something with gameplay rivalling Mount and Blade or Total War I would only recommend if you see the vision and want to support the dev. I think this game has some great potential, but in its current state I'd say it's closer to an EA game than a full release.
Amazing, great innovation from the previous title.
