This game is a chef's kiss of a niche 4X. Definitely didn't deserve flopping, but I guess I might be a few days late to say that! Definitely play with the Renaissance mod (It basically tries to counteract the game not being updated for like ten years and does a pretty good job at it). Overall, 10/10, great 4X with a unique personality!
Love it!

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The Warlock series is a fantastic blend of Civilization and Age of Wonders with many of the strong qualities of both games as well as its own flair. The stand out difference from the above two series, is how unique every single unit in your army is, and how you care for each one as individuals. Almost every unique resource on the map has at least 2 or 3 possible different structures you can build on it, depending on the race of the city which claims it and which decision you make. For instance, a herd of donkeys can be turned into a slaughter house by the "goblin" faction, or into incredibly tanky and fearless "Stubborn Knights" by the humans. Silver can be turned into a resource rich silver mine, or a magical research lab. Once you have the silver mine, you can start buying silver weapons for each of your units, or perhaps some iron armour from another mine. Combined with a selection of 3 abilities per level up, and a large number of enchantments, every single one of your units, even if they are all Human Swordsmen, will have a different set of abilities, strengths and weaknesses which cause the player to grow attachted to each and every one. All combat takes place on the world map like in Civ, but the units can actually effect the terrain and surrounding tiles depending on what abilities they have. Warlock 2 is better than Warlock 1 in almost every way, so you're totally safe only getting this game. The voice acting is fantastic, but word of warning, it will become an earworm that will stick with you for decades much like Majesty before it. The major drawback to the game is how long the turns can take. On bigger maps or maps with more AI players I've found I will need to do something else between turns, as they can last for several minutes in the worst scenarios, especially near the end game. From the top of my head, it isn't as bad as Warlock 1, as your cities can be somewhat automated in Warlock 2, but still either expect to be patient after turn 60 or so, or play on smaller maps.
