The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Every market we collect.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.86/day in the week to Jul 30 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I am a university professor, game developer, and 4X TBS game fanatic. I played, developed, collaborated on, play tested, analyzed, wrote about, and searched for 4X TBS games most of my life. I played thousands of games and tens of thousands of hours of TBS games. I make this post after 156 hours of playing Endless Legend. My estimated level of knowing and understanding Endless Legend and its features: 80%. I bought and used all official add ons and patches. I played 2 games. I played slow and took careful notes. I enjoyed my first game a lot. This game has many innovative interesting features and ideas that impressed me first. Then in my second game the large number of bugs, usability problems, and poor design became the dominant factor that determine my opinion on this game that was published 11 years ago and the last official patch 7 years ago. Here are some examples of the problems in the order I found them: Bug? 1. Frequent confusing text. E.g. Sewer System did not count as Influence increaser for my quest even though it increases influence. 2. Rebellion is displayed to cause -20% on security. But the town’s own security is displayed as 0%. 3. Meritocratic promotion tech shows -2 upkeep for army, but it is -4. 4. I killed roaming Urkan Lice, but sometimes it did not count to Quest of killing Urkan Lice. Probabilistic if counts or not. 5. Save and Load logic is broken. It does not load the game state that was saved. New battles pop up, army's HP are different. 6. Attack odds should add up to 100% for the 4 possible outcomes. Instead, they add up to much more. 7. I gave my units order to move to specific positions, but also Hold position order. They all just held their positions. In other times they moved instead of holding position. They were not attacked first. What is the exact rule? Seems probabilistic. Defense order has similar problem. 8. Trade UI bug. It displays the wrong base value if I select trade 10. Then it fails to change it as I click. 9. Hero was assigned to an army that cannot be unassigned for 5 turns. Then I garrisoned the army, but the hero remained outside the city and free to move without the army. 10. Empire Plan setting is bugged. Once I set it, it cannot be changed in the same turn to other setting. But I can cancel it and then change it to something else with no penalty. 11. Display bug: Usually 90% Approval in a city is displayed as Fervent and get huge bonus. But sometimes 93% is only Happy and get moderate bonus. Same problem with 62% is sometimes happy sometimes content and apply different bonuses. 12. UI bug. Sometimes I can't give move order to my unit in battle. Must click an enemy unit first then click my unit then give move order. Design flaws and usability issues: 1. Painful unit design. Need to try many similar items to compare statistics. Can't just rely on labels without trying. Then screen shot and paste to Word. 2. When you build settler, do not assign worker to food. It is pure waste. Poor game design. 3. Frequent zooming in and out is required to find resources on the map. Hard to see them. 4. Unintuitive use of color on how the check boxes work in Options. Green means no, yellow means yes. 5. When I edit a unit design, it deletes the design of the original unit. To continue being able to build more of the original units and upgrade them for Dust instead of Industry place many of those in the City queue. Other option is to edit the design of the new unit again to make it the cheapest. Then place many of those in the city queue. Then design again as needed alternating between cheapest and best unit designs. What a waste of time to play optimally. 6. UI not updated on time. Searching Temple Ruins and finding science there is correctly applied to research progress, but it is not displayed in graphics in the "percentage completion of the current research project". 7. I started the new game by searching a temple ruin and found science points there. But this was all lost since I have not yet selected a research project. 8. Tile movement cost should be displayed in battle to aid unit placement decisions. 9. Waste of time to watch animation of my units walking in battle after all enemies are killed. It can take 25 seconds after each battle. 10. Too easy to miss a move on the world map. The UI is not intuitive and not forgiving. 11. Cliff and ridges are very hard to see even with full zoom and map rotation. This hinders move planning. 12. It would be important to show on my army which conflux type they already hold so I would not go to pick it up again. 13. In battle, it is not clear at the time of unit placing if a tile that is 50% river and 50% forest can be stepped on or not. This impacts decisions. 14. Anomaly and Villages are displayed the same way on the world map if zoomed out. This is not user friendly since only villages need military to attack them. 15. Acting order in battle is based on initiative, but if I have 2 units with same initiative there is no way to change which will act first. Bad for tactical game play. 16. In the early game defeating the many villages is boring and fairly predictable. They all have 2 defending units and are roughly equally strong. The initial hero and the initial 2 units are enough to beat them even without research. 17. Game's meta is too narrow. Need to run around and search ruins as fast as possible. Boring. 18. Poor UI support to plan new cities. Only becomes useful once the settler gets out of the region it was built. But then it is too late. 19. Knowing about game rule step functions and thresholds, such as minimum requirement for happy is needed to play optimally. It makes a big difference. 20. Searching Temple Ruins shows it may find enemies. But out of my first 200 searches it never did. It is always treasure, quest, item, or nothing. Wrong info and boring. 21. Merging and splitting army can be done for free. This allows frequent use of these to explore more land and gather resources faster. Encourages micromanagement. 22. Research carry over when completing an Era to the next is not user friendly. All overflow science points that was completed last turn does not carry to next research if I choose tech from next Era. Worse, once I make change I cannot change it back to the original tech without full penalty. 23. Tech screen should open up on the current tech Era to research. It often opens up on Era VI that I cannot research. Waste of time and annoying to scroll to the available research. 24. I can't find indicator how many science points were spent already on the current tech research. Only shows percentage. 25. I can't find indicator how many industry points were spent already on the current construction. Only shows a bar and number of turns remaining. 26. When I research enough techs to unluck Era II, all my normal units are forced to be built as level 2, which I do not want since they cost more. Particularly problematic for Settlers. The colonization cost just goes up. 27. Attacking an enemy in Cold War increases cost of War declaration. Why? I think it should decrease it. 28. City placement planning with volcanoform ability is very tedious, boring, and time consuming. The rules are complex and unclear. The actual benefits are a fraction of what the UI is predicting. 29. Battles are boring. They became a repetitive chore by my second game. 30. Unit design: pure better versions of items that are currently being worn are not displayed. Need to take off the item to make the better version available. Surprising, not user friendly. 31. Empire plan logic is not user friendly. For example, I completed 99% of a unit construction under 20% unit construction reduction empire plan. Then the plan expired. It suddenly removed the 20% discount and now I need to pay full price. It should be proportional.

Outrageous data collection. As time goes by, with new patches, game studios keep changing their EULA. Something that wasn't there, suddenly appears and there is nothing we can do about it. This should not be allowed. Enjoyed this game a lot, the amazing graphics, the gameplay but this is too much. Can't support this.
This game is fantastic truly. But you have to accept it for what it is, not what you expect it to be. If you want to know why so many people love it, just read the positive reviews or watch gameplay videos. The important thing is that this game is genuinely unique. It’s not “Civilization but fantasy,” and it’s not trying to be Warlock or Age of Wonders. It has its own identity, and that’s exactly why it stands out. The combat is unusual. It works a bit like Combat Mission you give your orders, lock them in, and then the units execute them based on initiative. Higher-initiative units act first. If you’re playing a faction like the Broken Lords with low initiative, you’ll often see the enemy move before you expected, change positions, disrupt your plan, or block your movement. Your troops might not carry out your orders exactly as you intended. At first this can feel frustrating, but this isn’t a flaw it’s simply how the system is designed to work. You’re not meant to micromanage every single moment you’re meant to anticipate, plan, and adapt. I do prefer a more traditional turn based system, where units act one by one and you can react instantly to what’s happening. That’s a perfectly fair preference. But the combat here isn’t broken or badly designed. It’s just different, and it requires you to think ahead instead of reacting on the spot. Once you understand how the system works, it becomes incredibly strategic. You begin planning around initiative instead of fighting against it. A faction like the Broken Lords rewards a defensive, methodical playstyle holding positions, keeping your lines steady, positioning your backline for future turns, and choosing the right moments to commit your cavalry. When everything comes together, a well-planned battle feels satisfying in a way most turn-based games don’t offer. A single bad order can ruin a fight, but that’s part of the tension. When your plan works, it feels earned. In short this is a great game with a combat system that’s unusual, clever, and rewarding if you take the time to understand it. If you’re willing to adapt and think ahead, the experience becomes something truly memorable.
So, you see your classmates play 4X games while awaiting the teacher to arrive, these classmates of yours with pallid, pale skin and suffer from being nasal, socially-awkward virgins writing terrible stories about nuclear weapons and Shadowmen. Enter the hot Goth chick who walks in with her cherry red laptop and her confident stride, above the lowly peons where she sits and broods out of the window as she awaits her laptop to boot up. The teacher calls in sick, and it has become a free period of relaxation. Your nerdy classmates revel in their hollow victory. The girl simply groans. Everyone is seen on Steam on their laptops, playing Civilization V and Civilization: Beyond Earth. You wade through the list of classmates online when something catches your eye. _Summer-Rain_ is now logged in, playing a strange game that you've never even heard of before this day. Endless Legend. You glance at your Gothic princess, whom you catch looking at you from behind her cherry red laptop. She averts her eyes, _Summer-Rain_ having been exposed stealing glances at you. Your heart flutters, and you gulp down, thinking this may be your chance for _Summer-Rain_... You are soon $35.00 poorer as you hope and pray to whatever dark deity your Gothic princess worships that the school's pathetic internet connection will download the game in time before class ends, and it is as if the demonic forces grant you a full installation. You enter Endless Legend and quickly scan through the factions, eight in total: Wild Walkers (Elves) Broken Lords (Cool-looking ghost-mummies) Necrophages (Undead insects) Ardent Mages (Goths obsessed with self-harm) Drakken (Dragons) Cultists (Overzealous, religious cyborgs) Roving Clans (Arab-Jew Hybrids) and the Vaulters (The only sane-looking people) You play it safe and pick the Vaulters. Even the game tells you they're the best faction to learn. You have your faction and you join the open game that _Summer-Rain_ is currently in. The hexagon tiles rise up and the world loads before your eyes. You are bombarded with a never-ending series of information windows and funny-looking symbols which denote what you will learn later are the resources of the game, which are: Dust (Gold or money of Endless Legend) Science (Used for research purposes) Industry (To make your units and upgrade cities) Food (pretty self-explanatory) along with a slew of Luxury Resources which are used for advanced weapons and technologies. Endless Legend is turn-based, meaning everything done on a player's turn is crucial. Researching the wrong technology over a period of turns and not paying attention to the one you needed would be disastrous, in addition to not being able to manage one's economy effectively would lead to the player's empire to implode upon itself. After the first 10 turns _Summer-Rain_ appears, using the Ardent Mages, to no one's surprise. She hammers upon your fledgling city with an army using combined-arms tactics, but you are wise to have fielded a smaller second army and crush her would-be invasion force. As you divide and conquer your forces to have one army go after _Summer-Rain_'s Capital and another army complete the randomly-generated, scripted quests which inhabit the world to pursue your Quest Victory condition, _Summer-Rain_ was hard at work throwing everything she had into research and began the construction of a Wonder. The tides turned with her on the defensive but having an advantage in building a Wonder this early, you howl and wail with a succession of armies you continue to field, even diverting your Questing army to break through _Summer-Rain_'s territory and assail the city where her Wonder is being built. But you are unsure of the exact location and which city the Wonder is being built at, and before long your defeat is heralded when your screen is replaced with the beautifully-illustrated image of an Ardent Mage standing proudly with the Wonder in the distance. You slam your fist into your table and your nerdy classmates glance worriedly before going back to their futile game of colonizing a small moon as you hang your head down in shame. The free period over, everyone packs up and wants to leave for the next class. You are about to fold away your laptop when _Summer-Rain_ approaches you, looking radiant and beautiful. She smiles and tells you that for a beginner you weren’t all that bad and that she was going easy on you. You manage a smile in response, fighting back your nerves as you tell her that you were intrigued by Endless Legend and that you swear you didn't read the on-the-fly descriptions of how to play the game. _Summer-Rain_ walks past you toward the door and tells you that she would love to talk to you all about Endless Legend and the newly-released Guardians expansion for the game over lunch after school. Her scent interrupts your logic, her eyes tease you and her lips smile sincerely. "You coming?" _Summer-Rain_ calls out. You nearly stumble over your own words. "Only if I get to play Endless Legend with you." She smiles again, nodding. "I was hoping you'd say that. It's a date then." You would go on to date her, and ultimately, marry her. The girl of your dreams. The love of your life. username _Summer-Rain_ Indeed, love is truly endless. Endless Legend.
The game was good but in 2025 it does not run on too many operating system versions anymore (macos, different versions, different laptops, cryptic "input not supported blackscreen). Be wary when buying. edit: I spent some more time browsing obscure forums and posts and found an advice to delete all folders the game ever created, after doing that and a fresh installation the game launches. That is a ridiculous reason to throw an error, given it's game own config/setup that does that. I was so happy to be able to play again, however in turn 5 of my first game I got a quest forced on me to kill a 500 HP boss unit laying siege to my city...which is impossible. I restarted. Got it again in turn 7. I restarted. Got it again in turn 6. I installed the community patch and now I can finally play the game I paid for. Gaming is not supposed to be this hard.
The civilization devs simply played this game and copied everything for their own. I prefer the original to a pale copy. French qualitat.

Steam
100+ hours in... Just found out you can equip items on units, not just heroes. I’ve been fighting with unarmed peasants this whole time. Genius move. 10/10, would struggle again.
Endless Legend (EL) has become the hallmark which I judge all other 4X games against. It combines in-depth gameplay mechanics allowing the player to legitimately pursue alternative win scenarios other than the "murder-death-kill everything on the map" that many other 4X strategy games fall into towards the end of a campaign. Supremacy, Elimination, Diplomacy, Economic, Wonder, and other win scenarios can give a player or faction a myriad of options to win the game. Someone stomping across the map? Push for an economic victory. Vaulters held up in their cities racing for a science victory? Employ spies and diplomacy to win a diplomatic victory before they finish. And this goes to the main thing that to me, makes EL stand out. The memorable and unique factions that have unique traits and drawbacks ensuring that each one gives a unique experience in playing the game. They are well balanced overall and the expansion factions tend to use a new play mechanic with that expansion as their main theme. Unforgotten and spying, Allayi and pearls, etc. Also the mixture of fantasy and sci-fi in one setting makes for a unique world and story within the larger Endless Universe. And this game ties into both Endless Space 2 and the new sequel, Endless Legend 2 that's just been announced. The graphics are good and colorful with a nice aesthetic. It won't cause your graphics card to start smoking and are decent for the game but not it's strong point, particularity with the menus. The music is very memorable and beautifully done with a full orchestra in some pieces and unique instruments in others, tying in majestically with the factions they represent or the world at large. The combat system is also more interactive than what you'll see in Endless Space 2 or Humankind for that matter and I prefer it in many ways to those newer games. I've definitely gotten my bang for my buck with the game and I still find myself coming back every so often to the world of Auriga, only to find myself clicking that turn icon one more time well into the night. Even with Endless Legend 2 on the horizon, I recommend picking up EL especially if it's on sale. If you're a fan of 4X strategy games that's looking for more depth and flavor than Civilization, then give EL a try. You won't be disappointed.
