A cute strategy game, based on resource management. Your building area is created using small islands given to you over time, you attach these to your main island. You gain access different ways of aquiring new small islands as you progress. You start off with simple tech that uses raw resources and slowly build up to improved tech that allow you to build self suffient systems. The art style matches the gameplay and I often find myself just watching the world in motion. Sound effects and music are also nicely produced, although I would have liked to have seen some extra sounds for some of the notifications. If there was anything I would have liked to have seen, that would have been some extra scenarios or challenges, completing these could have maybe also led to achievements which are also something that are missing. Volantia is a pleasant experience, the developers should be proud of the result. I hope they find themselves working together again on another project.
- good art style - creative puzzle + building game system Cons: - short game rounds with low replay value (roughly 1.5~2 hr per game) - lack of storyline/immersion - unused game functions (kingdom visualizations) due to insufficient game depth. can really use more game rounds/maps. - relative high price Conclusion: - score: 3/10 as an indie game

You have to rebuild your island which is floating in the sky. Every 2 minutes you get a part of the island. You have to connect those new pieces to your city. This is done like in a "Tetris". You can rotate your new island piece so you find the best connection to you mainland. Your island has to be connected to Zardims. For connecting (and activating) those, there is a time limit. If you don't do it in time, the island will crumble. There are a different types of buildings you can place. Also, there is your standard tech tree, where you can research new buildings. It's easy to research them all very fast. This game has 2 play modes A normal mode, where you have to achieve goals in a specific time (you have plenty of time) otherwise parts of your island will crumble. Sandbox mode, no time mode, your city won't crumble. You are free to build your city in a relaxing way. If you never played this game before you can enable the tutorial. The graphics are very colourful and cute, the music is relaxing. It's a very basic and casual game. No real deep strategy is involved. In my opinion it's a nice game for beginners or people who want to play a casual game. I think the price is a little too steep, because the game is very easy. There are are more advanced city builders out there for the same price. This doesn't mean that Volantia is a bad game at all, so I still will recommend it. My advice would be to wait for a sale. Or buy it if you want a relaxing casual city builder. I would give this game a 6 out of 10. Note: I hope the devs will enable vsync soon, because the game runs now on 700+ fps, my graphic card doesn't like it.
Fun, casual resource management game. Tetris meets supply-chain management. Not a whole lot of content here (a session can be completed in about an hour and a half), the objectives are the same, always (connect to 7 monoliths). The replayability comes from randomly generated island tiles. Don't get this if you're expecting something super deep (or a campaign)--it's more of a game that you can pick up and finish if you're bored for an hour.
For now i would have to give this game a thumbs down, because i found it very bland and boring. Would be happy to give it a thumbs up if they added more content or expanded the storyline.
not worth the listed price. maybe $5 (at best) or less. not much of a challenge honestly, most of the research and buildings are useless. just rush to the 7 pillars and activate them. that's about it. nothing else matters. pointless to research too far along the tech tree. tutorial is somewhat broken - no check in place for failing tutorial. the game ends up being in a 'stuck' mode and forced to quit and restart manually. pretty graphics, neat concept, but just falls flat on game play. very bland.
Game looks good at first, but is incredible shallow, short and repetitive. After 4 hours of gameplay, there is nothing new to do for me.
It's a cute resource management game / city (hamlet?) builder. I quite like the hand-drawn style, it's like a little picture book. I'm particularly fond of the little helper sprites. The game itself is sadly quite short, you can satisfy your main objectives in under two hours, and then it's and endless and open sandbox. (in fact, the map is only getting bigger). However, it had enough to do that it kept me interested for a while after. Some polish and ease of use tweaks would be appriciated, though.
Aaaaahhhh I got a free copy when reviewing games but I wish I could give a review like I paid for it! This game is a gem - tile laying mixed with factory-line production and music and visuals to let you chill out. I haven't played anything this special in a long time. If any part of you like world building, you need to check this out!
