About

Voidsayer is a dark monster-taming jRPG, set in a world cursed by the Abyss. As its malevolent influence spreads and consumes the world, take on the role of a valiant warrior and fight back using over one hundred types of powerful tameable monsters. Refine their power with gear, special effects, and of course, evolve them into higher classes of monsters. Cross a vast interconnected world full of challenges and random events, all procedurally generated to ensure no two playthroughs are the same.
This is the classic turn-based jRPG monster tamer with multiple modern twists on the gameplay and an uncompromising approach to difficulty: Every fight is a challenge, every random event is a risk of crippling your team, and resources are extremely limited in a dark, cursed world where everything will eventually be consumed by the Abyss.
Or will it?

Dark, Complex Monster Taming: Each of the one hundred monsters you can catch is defined by a sophisticated stat system, which includes genetic predispositions and distinct personalities affecting their performance. Each can be further tuned and enhanced with carefully selected gear and other upgrades. They will need it, even if they evolve into higher forms.
Challenging Turn-Based Combat: Monsters are one side of the coin. The other is a large catalog of attack moves, effects, passives, combined with an easy to understand type system. Grass is beaten by fire, but fire is beaten by water - and it doesn't affect just damage dealt, but can dramatically change the course of battle. Strategic thinking and creative tactics are essential to victory.
Procedurally-Generated Levels Full of Twists: Every level is unique, with a generated map combining countless random encounters, pitched battles, and unforeseen events that can dramatically alter the gameplay. Your carefully-prepped and upgraded team might suddenly suffer injury - or trigger an abyssal distortion with severe consequences. Or... Maybe you'll encounter an opportunity that will require careful consideration of your options.
Bespoke, Powerful Bosses: A boss is not just a particularly powerful monster. Every boss is confronted at the end of a dedicated level, full of unique challenges reflecting their might. They range from tweaking the underlying gameplay slightly to completely upending gameplay you're used to, forcing your monsters to adapt - or die.
Settlement System: Hope is not yet completely snuffed out, as some human settlements still exist, strongholds of humanity against the encroaching Abyss. Your base of operations can be upgraded with materials brought back from each expedition, upgrading buildings to enhance their functionality or unlock new ways to tackle the Abyssal threat.

Enjoyable ( b' ')b I definitely felt like some voidlings were so much stronger than others (COUGH Lampyridae my goat COUGH). I enjoyed the world, but it felt like we didn't see all that many glimpses of it. I'm not sure if other people think this as well, but it would be nice to see more flavor text, dialogue, characters, or something of that sort d('. ')
after the re-balance every other attack i make is dodged or stopped by some status effect that says its only has a 10% chance or so of happening but seems to happen every single time, i liked the game before the latest update
I like the game but yeah it isn't perfect. It's annoying that you have to load game if you wipe, losing progress like captures and exp. However, i do like the evolution conditions aspect and branching paths of evolution I wish it was a bit more fleshed out but I get that might have spread things too thin. I like that it matters if you do magic or physical. I like the atmosphere. Can recommend but it's not perfect
Keeps crashing to desktop.
Voidsayer is a dark fantasy creature-collecting RPG developed by Pavel Auseitasau and published by indie.io that takes familiar monster-taming foundations and reshapes them into something harsher, darker, and considerably more unforgiving. Instead of presenting a colorful adventure built around friendship and exploration, the game creates a world slowly collapsing beneath supernatural corruption where survival becomes the central objective. Combining strategic turn-based combat, creature management, procedural exploration, and difficult decision-making, Voidsayer builds an experience focused on tension and long-term planning rather than comfort or accessibility. The setting immediately establishes the game’s identity. Civilization exists in decline as a destructive force known as the Abyss spreads across the world, consuming lands and destroying hope for those still trying to survive. Humanity stands dangerously close to extinction while monstrous horrors continue growing stronger. Players step into this dying world as one of the few individuals willing to challenge the growing darkness. The journey becomes less about becoming a legendary hero and more about enduring overwhelming odds while searching for a way to reclaim a future that increasingly feels impossible to reach. Creature collection forms the backbone of progression, but Voidsayer approaches the formula differently from many games in the genre. The creatures players recruit become more than simple companions or battle tools. Every monster brings distinct abilities, strengths, weaknesses, and growth opportunities that influence long-term strategy significantly. Building an effective team requires understanding synergy rather than simply gathering stronger creatures over time. Progression systems add impressive depth to creature management. Monsters evolve, gain equipment, and develop into specialized roles depending on player choices. Team composition becomes an ongoing challenge requiring careful planning and experimentation. Different encounters encourage adapting strategies regularly, preventing progression from becoming overly predictable. The game rewards players willing to invest time learning how abilities interact and how creature combinations influence combat effectiveness. Turn-based battles serve as one of the strongest aspects of the experience. Combat consistently demands attention because careless decisions often carry serious consequences. Elemental relationships, status effects, passive abilities, and tactical positioning create encounters where preparation matters just as much as raw strength. Victory rarely feels automatic. Players who rush into difficult fights without planning will often discover that mistakes carry lasting consequences. Difficulty represents one of Voidsayer’s defining qualities. The game rarely offers easy victories or generous safety nets. Resources remain limited, exploration introduces uncertainty, and failures frequently create long-term setbacks rather than temporary inconvenience. Every encounter feels meaningful because survival remains uncertain throughout progression. The tension created by that design philosophy gives victories greater satisfaction while strengthening the atmosphere of desperation shaping the world. Procedural systems further reinforce unpredictability. Exploration regularly introduces changing events and evolving challenges that prevent progression from feeling repetitive across multiple runs. Players cannot depend entirely on memorization because circumstances shift constantly. Adaptation becomes a survival skill as important as combat knowledge or creature management. The progression loop extends beyond collecting monsters and winning battles. Equipment systems, creature upgrades, team optimization, and long-term planning create additional layers of strategy that reward patience. Players interested in building carefully designed team combinations will likely find significant satisfaction in experimenting with different approaches and refining strategies over time. The visual presentation deserves recognition as well. Voidsayer embraces darker fantasy influences rather than traditional heroic aesthetics. Creature designs frequently appear unsettling or corrupted, reinforcing the feeling that the world itself suffers beneath overwhelming supernatural pressure. Environmental presentation complements those ideas effectively, creating locations that feel dangerous, unstable, and consumed by decay. Atmosphere remains one of the game’s strongest accomplishments. Music, visual direction, creature design, and world-building combine to create a setting that constantly reinforces tension. Exploration rarely feels safe. Every step into unfamiliar territory carries uncertainty. The world feels hostile without becoming unfair, helping strengthen immersion throughout progression. However, the demanding design naturally limits accessibility. Players seeking a lighter creature collection experience or a more relaxed progression structure may struggle with the constant pressure shaping the gameplay. Voidsayer expects patience and strategic thinking. It rewards preparation but punishes recklessness consistently. Its darker tone may also surprise players expecting a more traditional monster collection formula. Optimism rarely defines the experience. Survival, sacrifice, and difficult decisions remain central to progression from beginning to end. Those same qualities ultimately become the game’s greatest strength. Voidsayer succeeds because it commits completely to its vision rather than following safer genre expectations. It transforms creature collection mechanics into something heavier and more survival-focused while maintaining enough customization and strategic depth to create long-term engagement. For players who enjoy difficult RPG systems, darker fantasy settings, creature-building progression, and turn-based combat that rewards careful planning, Voidsayer offers an experience filled with challenge and atmosphere. Its world may stand on the edge of collapse, but the journey through it creates a rewarding experience for players willing to endure its dangers. Rating: 7/10
A neat dark pokemon-like.
Хороша игра для коллекционирования монстров
I really want to love this game but I can't. It's just hard for the sake of being hard like a Dark souls mod. I've never played a "rougelite" were every single choice you make you lose health? Or increase the bad meter and makes the run harder. No way to fully heal so you have to run through a low level area try to avoid the 90% bad rolls and hit a camp and use potions to heal which are very low heal. later runs can take 20+ minutes but oops! right before the boss you hit a bad roll or your meter is too high BAM! all your monsters loose 50% of there health and cursed. And the further you progress the more and more debuffs you get. Half of the town upgrades are useless. Yea its just not put together well. Try the demo BEFORE you buy. The only good thing are the monsters. The designs are awesome the abilities are cool No team synergy just 1v1 slug fest for the most part. But you can't enjoy the simple monster tamer part and evolving for the LEVEL CAPS and for the awful rouge stuff. Bosses are very over tuned also. a level 20 monster vs a 15 boss You will lose every time unless you have good luck. Type machups don't matter as much as some reviews mentioned either.
Darkest Dungeon X Pokemon without the things that make Darkest Dungeon cumbersome at times.
