About

Voidsayer is a dark monster-taming jRPG, set in a world cursed by the Abyss. As its malevolent influence spreads and consumes the world, take on the role of a valiant warrior and fight back using over one hundred types of powerful tameable monsters. Refine their power with gear, special effects, and of course, evolve them into higher classes of monsters. Cross a vast interconnected world full of challenges and random events, all procedurally generated to ensure no two playthroughs are the same.
This is the classic turn-based jRPG monster tamer with multiple modern twists on the gameplay and an uncompromising approach to difficulty: Every fight is a challenge, every random event is a risk of crippling your team, and resources are extremely limited in a dark, cursed world where everything will eventually be consumed by the Abyss.
Or will it?

Dark, Complex Monster Taming: Each of the one hundred monsters you can catch is defined by a sophisticated stat system, which includes genetic predispositions and distinct personalities affecting their performance. Each can be further tuned and enhanced with carefully selected gear and other upgrades. They will need it, even if they evolve into higher forms.
Challenging Turn-Based Combat: Monsters are one side of the coin. The other is a large catalog of attack moves, effects, passives, combined with an easy to understand type system. Grass is beaten by fire, but fire is beaten by water - and it doesn't affect just damage dealt, but can dramatically change the course of battle. Strategic thinking and creative tactics are essential to victory.
Procedurally-Generated Levels Full of Twists: Every level is unique, with a generated map combining countless random encounters, pitched battles, and unforeseen events that can dramatically alter the gameplay. Your carefully-prepped and upgraded team might suddenly suffer injury - or trigger an abyssal distortion with severe consequences. Or... Maybe you'll encounter an opportunity that will require careful consideration of your options.
Bespoke, Powerful Bosses: A boss is not just a particularly powerful monster. Every boss is confronted at the end of a dedicated level, full of unique challenges reflecting their might. They range from tweaking the underlying gameplay slightly to completely upending gameplay you're used to, forcing your monsters to adapt - or die.
Settlement System: Hope is not yet completely snuffed out, as some human settlements still exist, strongholds of humanity against the encroaching Abyss. Your base of operations can be upgraded with materials brought back from each expedition, upgrading buildings to enhance their functionality or unlock new ways to tackle the Abyssal threat.

Nice game, not easy but nice for the sale price.
I would consider this a fun game to play. Its difficult which is something I enjoy. You can "catch" monsters through each run that you can then use for future. I think its worth the price.
It is great, don't be disheartened if you get wrecked on the last fight of a run, level your critters up and try again, and maybe watch out for unseen consequences (looking at you stupid alter) Play with various traits as some of them are worth having even if only for events
The dev added a final-battle achievement after release. I had 100%'d the achievements for this game and am now one achievement short - this matters because I did not enjoy the game enough to replay it. This change feels disrespectful to players who had already put in the time and effort to grind through this game and to farm all of the achievements. I wanted to like this game (dark Pokemon sounded promising). Instead, the game is filled with arbitrary systems and artificially inflates the difficulty through map events that drain your party's health. Almost each node drops your health by 5-15% and often inflicts an injury or other penalty of some kind. You cannot carry potions over from one run to the other (if you don't use it, you lose it). Potions are weak and do hardly anything anyways. You cannot hold enough potions for your entire team. Your team does not recover their full health after each run of a map (you upgrade a building to slowly give a % of health back). All of this ensures your health is almost never at full health and that they constantly lose health between battles because of the perpetual punishing map nodes. Then when you fight actual bosses, their moves do far more damage than yours. You arrive in the fight with diminished health and then your same attacks from your same demons do less damage than theirs. The balancing is just terrible in this game, and again it feels like the devs are wasting the player's time. Each time you die you must restart the run (you don't keep captured demons either). The art is nice, but the quality of designs varies wildly. Some evolutions are awkward and lazy which is a shame when you compare them to some of the much better demons.

i like the art
