The variety of weapons is nice - each one has its own unique handling and feel. The level design keeps things fresh from start to finish, throwing new environments at you just when you think you've seen it all. Never once did I get bored - there's always something new around the corner. Highly recommended for anyone who loves singleplayer VR shooters.
This game, alongside Half Life Alyx & Boneworks, are the best representatives of the potential of VR games. They are large, immersive adventures that feel good to play and have a good amount of physical feel. The campaign was great fun throughout the whole thing and considering the small size of the team that made it, its scale is super impressive. It can feel random and ridiculous at times, but that is what made it so charming and fun. In addition, the other main highlight of this game is the great feeling guns. I used almost all of them a lot just because of how fun it is to use them. They also feel really good to reload and to shoot, making combat pretty fun. There is a decent amount of enemy variety. This game is just a pretty goofy but impressive adventure and that is why it's so fun.
Such an amazing and polished experience. The weapons are all incredibly fun to use, and the upgrade system and secret weapons are handled extremely well. The level design is creative and varied, and the story stays engaging throughout. This game genuinely rivals Half-Life: Alyx for me in terms of pure enjoyment, as both games make you feel like the protagonist of a wild sci-fi adventure. You can really tell the creator poured a lot of passion into this game, and I can’t wait to see what he releases next.
i got this game during a humble bundle and OH BOI DO I HATE IT The jokes are flatter than my mom in the middle of summer and the guns including the handling could be better but dude this is not a game i recommend at all, sure i gave it the benefit of the doubt but it did not surpass my standards of what i expect in a vr game, including the rage inducing boss fights that do not give you a clear hint on what you need to use. this is literally a rollercoaster that stops itself everytime there is a "major" plot point or twist and i was playing this on a Valve Index mind you. Tl;dr: Rick and morty humor which is worse, guns that feel like you are shooting spaghetti and the rest of this game is just get swarmed and die again and again
Played this after finishing the first game and wow. This expanded on the original by A LOT. All the stuff from the original is there. The gunplay, the humor, the graphic style, the weirdness and even the scary moments (me and my thalassophobia, coupled with this game... oof). In my review for the first game, I mentioned how it felt very similar to Half-Life with a touch of Portal. This game also expands on that. By, like, a lot. The enemies are cool and well designed. The story is interesting to follow. The music is great! The levels are easy(ish) to navigate. The set-pieces are amazing. Honestly, just about everything about this game is AMAZING and truly shows what can be achieved in VR. Some people say it's equal or even BETTER than Alyx. I don't agree. I don't think anything can top Alyx, but this game is a VERY VERY VERY close second. I do have a couple gripes about the game. Firstly: There's a couple bugs. Mainly in Chapter 10 and 11(?). After I escaped a certain building after beating a specific boss, the game tossed me into some water. Then tossed me up in the air again but then back down. I got stuck in the ruins of a village with invisible walls and I couldn't progress, so I had to reload a checkpoint. Multiple times. EVENTUALLY the game got it right and I seemed to have went to the proper place and got launched into the proper area so I could continue. After that, though, the game was still glitching out. My boat kept trying to nosedive into the water every now and then. Enemy boats spawned but a lot of them spawned facing... upwards? and then sped off into the void. Basically, that whole section was completely busted. Thankfully, the game seemed to progress okay afterwards, but I don't doubt there's some bugs still left that you might encounter. Secondly, and my biggest complaint, is the difficulty. Yes Yes "git gud" whatever. My problem wasn't with the bosses. I found them perfectly balanced. My issue was with the "waves" of enemies the game would sometimes throw at you in certain rooms. There was way too many, they took a lot of ammo to take down, and ammo regen isn't fast enough to keep up. I started the game on normal. Then around chapter 4 or 6, I bumped it down to easy. And then for the later chapters I had to bump it down again to Story. I get having challenges in the game, but VR isn't that built for run-and-gun gameplay. One shot from even a normal robot enemy knocks off a big chunk of your health on normal. They shoot fast. Even when you're constantly moving and doing circles around them, they'll still hit you. The amount of damage reduction you get on Story mode felt a lot better and more balanced. Anyway, this game is (mostly) made by a single person. It's an INCREDIBLY feat and it's 100% worth a playthru. Easily a must-play for if/when you get a VR headset.
have NOT beat the game but the designs on these NPCS are driving me insane and like any good game its hard but not too hard of that makes sense oh yeah I also played on the meta quest 3 EDIT: I have recently beaten the game and I LOVED IT pretty good weapon designs, nice combat, funny dialogue cool character designs, I never played the first one and it was still peak, one of the BEST story VR games I have ever played if you have the money for it get this game it is GREAT
I miss the ink blob
If you liked HL:Alex and want more like it but with a goofier take, then this one is fits just right. I would not say the first Vertigo is required to play this one as the story from V1 was pretty simple and easy to catch up on.
greatest vr game ever.
For a game practically made by 1 guy, this is absolutely phenomenal, great storyline, immersive combat and problem solving, it's so good, I love the pun at the beginning where you're about to get the Ionizer Handgun, but it prints a crowbar saying, 'No one will fight through a facility with a crowbar!' a great nod to Gordon Freeman in the Half Life games, I have beat this game on a PSVR2, but I bought it on the PC for the Into the Aether and level editor and the level editor is outstanding, it will NOT let you down! I bought the game via a game key, I like the other game but Vertigo 2 is the much better one.
