About
In Wolfpack a crew of players man the stations of a German type VII U-boat. Their objective is to intercept and sink enemy ships and escape undetected. The game is played in an unbroken first person perspective. Players interact directly with valves, levers and instruments to control the U-boat.

The U-boat in Wolfpack is fully operational and interactive. All stations and instruments have been carefully modeled after original pictures and sources, and kept as realistic as possible without compromising usability.
The game allows players to:
Play as one or several U-boats.
Play multiplayer, or solo with bots.
Use advanced plotting tools to plan attacks and to navigate.
Manually operate the diesel engines and electric motors.
Use dive the planes and rudders.
Operate the ballast tanks, trim tanks, and air vents.
Use periscopes, and the torpedo data computer.
Use the hydrophone to find targets and avoid the enemy.
Use the deck gun and anti aircraft gun.
Use voice tubes and intercoms to communicate throughout the boat.
Communicate with other u-boats over radio using real time, enigma encrypted morse code.

We are currently working on the most significant update that the game has ever received. We have completely rewritten the game’s systems to enable new game modes, dedicated servers, PVP and open world gameplay.
Today, Wolfpack is played in a single battle mode, called Skirmish. In this game mode, the players are tasked with attacking and destroying an escorted convoy of ships in an open sea battle. The game is played peer to peer, with one player hosting the game.

Our next big update to the game will be a new game mode called Career mode. Career mode is an open world game mode where players can travel to any location on earth. Unlike skirmish mode, progress in career mode will be saved between sessions. The career will be divided into chapters, with each chapter covering a small portion of the war from 1939 to 1945. The first update will contain the first chapter, with more chapters added over the course of development. This update also contains manual navigation, more enemy unit types, and a versus mode. Skirmish mode will continue to exist in the game as currently implemented.
Career mode world map - Work in progress
The career mode update will also contain a versus mode, where one team plays as one or several Flower class corvettes defending a convoy, and the other plays as u-boats. The playable corvette is still in an alpha stage, with many of its systems missing. It will be available as part of the career mode release, and will be gradually improved in future patches.
Playable corvette - Work in progress. Exterior, wheelhouse, Typex machine, bridge.
After the Career mode update we will also add:
Support for player run dedicated servers.
New character models.
New U-boat damage model with flooding.
Manual torpedo reloading.
Mission editor.
U-boat upgrades.
New enemy ships.

The last update made by the developers was over 3 years ago. <-- This should tell you everything I was really hopeful for this game but this is the game that made sure I do not do Early Access anymore Be aware!
The public build hasn't been updated since September 2022. The devs are working on a massive open-world overhaul that sounds incredible on paper, but it's been years of blog posts and promises with nothing playable to show for it yet. Steam warns: Note: The last update made by the developers was over 3 years ago. September 2022 Update 0.26 - 'Interior' released! December 2021 Patch 0.25 - 'Water' released! September 2019 Version 0.19 - Bots

6 years barely anything has been added. Abandoned.
An immersive and enjoyable experience when all 40 people on earth take part. It seems to me the development side doesn't care about.....developing this game. I'm sure y'all will find many reviews that agree with me. Give up on this. Could have been good. Do not waste your money
The game not only has serious multiplayer networking issues, but the development team also updates very slowly. The dev logs feel like they are making promises without much actual progress. There is barely any meaningful new content, and some updates feel perfunctory, with no credible screenshots or concrete proof of progress. At this point, the game may honestly be dead. That said, overall the game itself is still pretty good. It is probably the most realistic submarine game currently available on the market. But for a game whose main focus is co-op multiplayer, the actual co-op experience is really poor.
I love this game, but unfortunately it is impossible to recommend the game at this stage. And it's not that it lacks depth (No pun intended) or content. It does lack content, but that's to be expected from an early access product and honestly pretty reasonable. You shouldn't buy this expecting a fully finished game just as any other early access game. The issue is the developers lack of understanding for the community. They clearly have good ideas (Open world mode, playable corvette/escort ship, proper damage system) and have shown those already. But you never see anything. They constantly pretend like the next update is only a few months away, but that has been the case for many years now. They have started occasionally pushing tiny updates to the beta branch recently, but have failed to explain what exactly they are fixing/improving. And if those updates are actually coming soon, I don't know if people will genuinely play this. I hope I can update this review to be positive at some point in the future, but there really isn't much reason for that right now.
Most important: Join the Wolfpack discord and join the 9th Flotilla and their discord. Secondly, right click the Wolfpack icon in your Steam Library.. Go to Properties. Choose the Beta version... Now, you will find games and can host games and people will join. Great game to play alone also, but all games are more fun with friends. I think this is a great game! You can play Helm, Dive Officer, Radio, Navigator, or Captain . I really like playing the Engineer and running the engines. If you get stuck and dont know how to play, contact me through Steam and lets play one! Love this game!
I post this review as neutral as I can. I write this for those who are on the fence about getting this game and the pros and cons for getting this game. While I do like submarines and love WWII games in general, I don't believe this to be the best submarine game on the market. I will however state that if you want to play a multiplayer submarine game with the ability for multiple people to be on the same submarine this game is the one for those scenarios. While I don't have much time in this game I do find it quite enjoyable to play with friends and while you can play alone, I would recommend that another game might be better and more developed than this game. Wolfpack is a good multiplayer game to sum it up nicely. Main gripe for this game being development status and hearing that development has stalled, I would say that that is a bummer but not a necessary deal breaker. If you want multiplayer as stated before than this is truly a one of a kind game and would absolutely recommend it if you have friends to enjoy it with. While this game will definitely never be the pinnacle of submarine gaming in the general sense, it is already a decent overall semi-simulation game. I say semi-simulation in a lose sense of that it is not a true open world, although at the time this is written it is stated that they will make it such but that has not yet been done. This still captures much of the difficulty that you would expect from a WWII submarine simulation game but in a much more skirmish style setup. Another thing to consider is time, as you will need a lot. I personally have never been able to conduct multiple attacks on a convoy in a single sitting due to various reasons. While I could find time to do it the people I play with would also have to find that time as well. This is something that should be considered as a immersion factor but not necessary a deal breaker as I have still had a lot of fun just attacking once or twice before having to get off. As a final overview, whether you spend your money on this game is up to you to decide. The community for this game is quite small and while I would love for it to grow in size, the decision to buy this game is in your hands. I hope that this was helpful for those who read it and that you can use this to make a decision for your self.
Nice game! - Last stable release is a few years ago but everyone plays the Beta, which gets regular updates! - There are dev updates on Discord - Most useful info seems to be from Steam Guides and a couple YouTube videos - There are a couple bugs but nothing too bad - though it's possible that it automatically bans the player you play with, so if you don't find the lobby you may need to "Show" password-protected lobbies AND the host should double check that you're not banned - It's more on the nerdy side, as you need to actually learn and practice stuff, but that seems to be the fun part!
