After playing Night Road this one was even more exciting. And its probably a very good introduction into the VtM Universe, because you are a normal human. The Story had a nice feeling & Atmosphere and was also very captivating. I can only recommend this kind of Novels to anyone who is interested!
It's a solid 7/10. I think you're gonna have more fun with this game if you already roughly know the World of Darkness, otherwise it may be a little bland or confusing. I really like the atmosphere of the small haunted town in America with its own little secrets and mysteries which nicely adds to the overall detective-like story. The characters were fine and fun but could've been fleshed out a little more, along with the reactions of your own character. Also the pacing felt a little weird to me since I played for 2 hours till the word "vampire" was mentioned for the first time but then the ending feels too rushed and sudden, spent barely half an hour on the last scene(s). I had fun with this one and maybe will play/read it again but not in the near future. It's not that deep and heavy on the subject matter but nice and fun for a few evenings.
Already that I am a big fan of the WoD series. There was a time when I did long hours and far too many role play sessions as a Vampire of all kinds, I must admit that the game carried me into an old and pleasant nostalgia. Everything about the game is of quality, they managed to transport us to the world of vampire Masquarade, in a most interesting way which is reinforced by the style of the drawing, the texts and by the music which such as the song of the siren, we bewitched in a completely imaginary world and yet ... For all fans of this kind of universe, I recommend playing and discovering the many facets of this game, whether with one person or by trying them all. I give this game 10/10 and look forward to the others.
You have returned to the small town outside of Chicago to bury your grandfather. Having spent a lot of your childhood here, you reckon you know the town, but there is something different, and it feels off. Plus you are not sure you even really knew your grandfather, in spite of being very close to him, and being the the beneficiary of his will. And your choices start even before you get to town as something strange happens on the road in. Whether you believe in vampires or not, you are up to your neck in strange doings and need to enlist friends old and new to find out what is going on, and then work out what, if anything, you are going to do about it. Choices definitely matter in this game and they heavily influence the outcome. A quick look at the achievements should give you some idea of just how replayable this game is, and some of the characters you meet on your playthrough will only appear depending on the choices you make, so one play will not reveal the whole story, probably not even half of it, and its easy to miss something important that would influence future decisions and outcomes. If you are interested in the WoD and VtM in particular, this is a good introduction to the lore and the background, even if you have never played one of these games before. You get to choose who your character is, their strengths and weaknesses, and how they can build their skills, all of which is relevant to what you discover, the friends you can rely on, and the outcomes you can achieve. It even influences your love interest, if you want a spot of romance, either human or vampiric. So vampire hunter, mediator, or hoping to be embraced, make your life choices and live with the consequences, no matter how bloody and what it costs.
Eu gostei bastante da historia contada e essa possibilidade de jogar como um humano, para quem gosta de vampiro a mascara acredito que aproveitará a historia.
The world presented in this story is neglectful of the lore associated with 'the world of darkness' yet remains an incredible narrative. Unlike Night Road, this story is very gentle to the player and does not require the same level of dedication to the integrity of ones build. Its fun and definitely worth the price.
Out for Blood takes place at the edge of the World of Darkness. Everything here is much lower on the power scale than is usual. But things here are still deeply personal. The game shines with its large varieties of endings.
Well this one was disappointing. Four fifths was build up and fluff and then there was a mad and disjointed rush to the conclusion at the end. It kind of read to me like the author got writers block or was procrastinating/padding for word count and then kind of forced an ending actually. But I'm just speculating... Descriptions were unnecessarily detailed with padding. Connections between characters seemed lacking or rushed. Character motives were lacking. Decisions seemed to narrow to a handful of not very logical choices as time went by. These decisions seemed to miss options the text itself suggested were there (e.g. at one point you have a flashbang grenade, and the text suggests you could use it in an ambush, but then there was no option to do it. Instead a bunch of other largely sub-optimal choices were presented). Stat checks seemed to require very high scores (or alternatively the scores don't matter and you will always win or lose reagrdless maybe, I'd have to replay to confirm and I don't wish to do so) and often repeatedly focussed on only a handful of skills, with repeated options for the SAME STATS in the available decisions. So I can choose two different choices with different flavour to achieve an objective but they both test the same stats. So unless you picked exactly the right scores to focus on you end up gimped and have to choose the 'safe' option or just fail because there is largely only the one stat mix to get through the situation. I also think these stat choices work against the 'everyman stumbles into vampire hunting' scenario. I ain't paying a professional hunter here, I'm just some schmuck who accidentally finds themself up against Vampires. There is only so elite I am likely to be! I had good to decent skills of 6 or 7 (total) in my chosen stats and even when I had a choice that let me use them they seemed to fail most of the time. Even when I was e.g. armed with a forgiving (of an amateur) weapon like a shotgun and my enemy was unaware of me! Yeah, so I didn't really like this game. Which is a shame 'cause I love the hunter style concept and have enjoyed a number of the other World of Darkness games from this publisher!
one of my favorites so far, worth it
