Choice of games titles are supposed to be games about choices. As is character creation in an RPG... And in fact, RPGs in general. This presents itself as a combination of both, while offering neither. It seems set on telling a specific story, more or less beat for beat. If melding with the earth would be inconvenient, well, never expect that to ever _do_ anything. If being able to take a hit doesn't match the desired outcome of the scene, don't expect your two points of fortitude to even be mentioned. It's such a disservice to all the effort put in writing 650k words to make so many of them focused on creating an experience whose length only works to more thoroughly expose it's lack of depth. Annoying the player / reader by denying them the benefits of their character choices is terrible. It is made even worse because those choices come at the cost of others, ones they at least imagine might have actually been interesting or beneficial, but which they are now cut off from.
I think it just doesn't work as a game. Dying didn't feel like I misplayed or made mistakes in a game. It felt like I didn't get what was happening and what mechanics were under the text. The game seems to be clunking besides the book, as if shoehorned in because it has to be game.
I think this is my favorite VTM game that I have played so far. I have been so deeply engrossed since I got it. The writing was pretty decent and they did a good job of making me think about the impact of all of my choices before I made them. I didn't find the game as difficult as some people make it out to be. I don't know if I just got lucky or if it's because I went into it knowing you can die and was overly cautious. I will definitely be replaying in the future to try out the different clans and see what some of the other choices lead to.
For me this remains the gold standard of World of Darkness games. Nothing else comes close to the level this game achieved. It's a fanastic introduction to VTM, your character really feels like they grow as the story progresses and you always feel like you are in the driving seat of the story. And it is brutually hard. Absolutely unforgivingly punishing. And that's exactly the way it should be! A bad build can ruin your run before it starts but learn the system and it's amazingly reactive. Debating whether or not using your powers to escape a dire situaiton, knowing it will break the Masquerade and cost you later is the very core of what a VTM game should be. The setting is cool, the story is cool, the cars are cool. I don't know what else to say, this is literally the best Choice of game i've ever played and i've played the majority.
Buggy, abruptly ends ruining the entire playthrough with no ability to pick chapters or restart chapter or anything. Would refund if I could, and will be wary getting anything from this author again.
VTM for people who's friends wont play VTM with them. its good! needs more malks tho. play it!
I've played/read this piece for a second time just now and still, it amazes me. You have so many options to customize your main character and even more choices on how to act. But what makes this novel really shine is the atmosphere. You really feel like you're there, in Tuscon, driving around at night, all on your own while getting dangerous stuff for even more dangerous people done. Hands down, the best VtM game I've played.
现存的几部Vtm if 游戏个人喜好排名 night road> >Parliament of knives >sins of the sires>>>out fot blood
Surprisingly decent read. The choices feel impactful enough to matter, though the outcomes are ultimately few at the very end, the journey is absolutely solid. The player is presented with several stats straight from the corebook, several disciplines to choose from, upgradable vehicles, firearms, swords, equipment and even a personal ghoul which you can choose and make use of throughout the adventure. Choosing a clan and making usage of certain vampiric abilities is satisfying, though feeding has been a bit hit and miss. There have been a couple instances in which my character was hungry but my stats would warrant for a speedy, discreet nourishment, however the game randomly decided that my character's carefully selected victim should just die. Why would a perfectly civilized, educated and picky Ventrue drain someone to death after careful planning, seducing AND paying? Who knows! Apart from that however, really fine adventure. The writing is on point, alternating short sentences and descriptive paragraphs which don't feel bloated nor repetitive; the overall narration is very game-y with a constant emphasis on player's actions and plenty freedom of expression. Winning most encounters, whether through social skills, deduction or brute force, is probably a bit too easy, but I'll let this one slide because there's no saving system... which is a baffling choice.
Очень годная ролевая игро-книга по вселенной Мира Тьмы. P.S. Выражаю благодарность "Неправильный Мир Тьмы" за знакомство с этой находкой, а также Evil Dream за русификатор и обратную связь.
