You're a trash gamer but a good listener.
He said "Oh darling, you're charming, please don't find it alarming If I pull this stop out to free up a hand for heavy petting Now there, there, I'm a friendly man I joke about sex because it's funny when you're frightened" The Dresden Dolls - Lonesome Organist R#pes Page-Turner
I am definitely not familiar with any of the topics this game discusses about. So I guess it is only natural that I find it all so very "new" to me. It is very short (finished under an hour), but educational and eye-opening. By the end of it, I felt like it showed me a whole new aspect of things I'd never thought about or known of before, and that's great.

I could not relate to Val's experience, not being AFAB myself but the portrayed frustrations of trans experiences are still something I could feel. Yet, I am very glad this game exists for those whom it applies to fully and those whom it can, potentially, help! The addition of the resources section is something I loved seeing in particular! "Educational games" can, on occasion, feel rather empty without some sort of tangible call to action or other way of connecting the experience to material reality and following through with it. The art is lovely and the minigames / dialogue choices do manage to showcase a kind of rudimentary ludonarrative cohesion, portraying the lived experience of the protagonist through the sense of control or lack thereof in these sections. It's not complex, it's not deep but it doesn't need to be to make a statement. At the least, it is a functioning piece of art. At best, it has the potential to be someone's personal, comforting, validating experience that they will remember fondly. And, hey, for being contained in such an economic package, I don't think I could ask for more!
(Val)iant feels more like educational piece than an actual game, but that’s ok because it uses its medium in interesting ways. The game frequently uses mini games in clever ways to move the story forward. The mini games are often designed to be impossible to fail or succeed and are meant to show Val’s strife and comfort in a given situation. There is also some stylistic choices I really enjoyed such as the sound design in the classroom scene and colorful and vibrant page layouts. Being a cis man, I’m far from the targeted demographic for this game, but I respect and understand what Val(iant) is trying to do and think it succeeds at being an entertaining and educational title.
I want to thank the developers for making Valiant. As a queer woman with pelvic floor issues, I felt seen and understood in a way that I never have before. From having bad doctors, to bad experiences with sex, to subpar sex ed, this game captures many experiences in an accurate and succinct way. The art is wonderful, and the music creates a great ambiance. I honestly started bawling my eyes out while playing because I realized that, much like Val, I have considered myself broken. Valiant has helped me come to a better understanding of my struggle and the way I think about myself. I really hope that this game reaches a wider audience because it is important to understand many of these issues even if you have never experienced them. For a free game, the quality of Valiant is wonderful and it deserves praise and recognition.
Ok so, this game is super short 30-45 minutes but it's AMAZING. It's about a dfab (designated female at birth) non-binary person who like many cis or trans have been through shame and medical gaslighting and just not known things regarding sex and female anatomy concerns. It's far beyond that to with a queer perspective and commentary and perspective of medical racism and this game is just amazing. Highly recommend regardless of gender or sex just to see things from a new perspective. My only real things I'd love to see fixed are adding subtitles to the parts with spoken dialogue and the ability to pause chats as they move too fast sometimes and you cant go back to re-read something unless you restart the chapter. Otherwise the game is perfect.
a lot of the game isn't really nice to play but the story is good and vital for a lot of people to read
I liked this game. It was a really nice educational experience, while also quite comforting. Very pretty visually, with fitting music and delightful character designs. I really liked the use of minigames to aid the story, the contrast between Evil Tetris and just press the buttons whenever was.. oddly relatable! I can tell a lot of genuine care was put into this game, and I like that.
