played this after the quarry and the dark pictures anthology, and honestly, i can see why so many people love it. every choice kept me invested, the atmosphere is amazing, and the tension never really lets up. the characters grew on me way more than i expected, and i immediately wanted to replay it just to see how differently things could turn out. if you enjoy cinematic horror games where your decisions matter, this is absolutely worth your time. one of my favourite experiences from this genre.
The game's awesome but I can't recommend it as at certain parts (or when you load a save) there's a high chance the game just instantly crashes.
Peak game, I love both choice based and horror games so this was a must for me BUT it is very pricey so I would wait for a deal
2 years after release - DLSS Frame generation is broken - VRR flicker - Unoptimized + Game is good
This game is frustratingly slow and not ported well to PC for the first 3 hours, and after it's still both of those things but you are now invested in the story. Can recommend as exposure therapy for people with ADHD or tendencies to throw their mouse/keyboard/controller into the wall.
Seems to be a great game, but is unoptimised and most likely will never get fixed.
For horror enjoyers like myself, especially if you don't always feel like committing to horror games with complicated gameplay, this is definitely worth trying. The soundtrack, storytelling, dialogue, characters and atmosphere make this game really good. I've already played this a few times on PS4, but coming back to it again, it still managed to keep me interested from start to finish and get me invested in the story all over again. The only thing that got on my nerves was the unrealistic amount of whining and unnecessary screaming from the girls at times. I get they're being hunted, but come on. My biggest complaint is the price. Sure, it came to Steam in 2024, but it's still a 2015 game. I'd recommend grabbing it on sale. It was also a bit frustrating to play through sometimes because the game just refuses to let you rush certain parts. Apparently even running for your life has speed restrictions. Can't wait for the sequel, which, for reasons we all know, won't be coming to Steam (most likely). That's just bs.
Bought this game on pc as I loved playing it on my boyfriends old playstation. However, after the first cutscene with Dr. Hill, there's a glitch where I am stuck on the loading screen and cannot progress with the game. I have tried finding answers online and it seems to have been a common occurance over the past two years since the game was released to pc. I love the game but I can't justify people spending $110 for a game with the last update being 2 years ago with no plan to fix this issue. I would only recommend this game to console users.
After 9 hours of playtime (just over halfway in the story) I encountered a game breaking bug where an NPC blocks a doorway and there's no way to get passed, except for starting ALL OVER FROM SCRATCH. Yea. This is not what I expected from a AAA game that charges 70 euros. When looking up this issue it's apparently a known problem and happens quite often too, so there's ZERO reason for the developers not to fix this.
"Cool Story, Bro." No honestly, cool story, good game. In fact, there were so many jump-scares in this game that I'm now completely dead inside and no longer have any reaction whatsoever to sudden, unexpected, catastrophic things that happen to me.
