Reviews
This game seemed interesting since the user could incorporate their own music into it, but it is very bland. It's definitely a time-waster, but in a bad way. For achievement hunters, it doesn't take long to get all the achievements but it's basically just constant mindless grinding. I think the only good part about the game is that you can play your own music with it... but you can always just play your own music in the background of a better game. Not worth it.
tetris
6/10 game it self is not bad, game difficulty level is not too much balanced, game mechanics is not that ideal like in other bejeweled type of games, playing to the accompaniment of own music seems be nice but i would rather listen good soundtrack in game itself.
Turba
Nota: 2,5/10
Holy hell this thing is a weird pile of crap. A rhythm game with wonky beat detection that changes everything around the music's speed or tempo is not a good setup. Still, if you like grinding out crap or 'endless' modes that don't track score or really exist for anything other than making you grind out the score-tracking modes (this is a real thing in this game, just like "use a powerup X times to make the next one appear, so you can use IT Y times to... etc.") then congrats. ♥♥♥♥♥♥ MMO skill grinding has come to Rhythm Zone! Wait no Rhythm Zone is still the worst music title on Steam, but not by much so long as Turba's around to hold the bag.
Fulfilled my weekly quota of blue screens.
I have tried to enjoy this game twice; this second time with a pause of like 2-3 years (I didn't delete the game in the meantime). TL;DR: NO, I couldn't like it. What is it? Another game that uses your music as a part of the gameplay. You have to get rid of boxes by clicking, like in Bejeweled (or for hipsters, Candy Crush), based on your music's beat. Sounded great, I thought, I'm listening to music right now, why not inside a cool game? Ah, not so cool. The execution is terrible. The tutorial is a long text mess (are we in the 90s?). There's no way to change in-game controls. Double-click is said to select a "group" but in fact it only selects 3 boxes even if there's more nearby (and it would give ya more points). Yet the worst part is the game's beat recognition: It is so poorly done, that YOU have to accustomize to the game's "beats", not the other way around. It kills all enjoyment because you can no longer listen to the music but you must instead try to understand whether the game is going to make a "beat" out of it (yeah granted, maybe it would work better for the generic club dance music). I cannot recommend this game. I'd rather play bejeweled without beat mechanics with my music playing in the background. In the end, there're other music-based games out there...
Not a great or interesting puzzle game. Doesn't have an accurate or functional method of detecting the beats in music. For a puzzle game based on playing and moving things to the beat? This is basically a failure state. Not recomended for any reason.
Turba sounds like a decent puzzle game that uses your own music library to make the stages unique. HOWEVER, the execution is very poor, which causes a lot of frustration as attempts to get in sync with the song you're playing often ends with something changing on the playfield & resulting in a bad move (causing additional frustration). This is one game that you'll DEFINITELY want to try the demo before you seriously consider spending ANY FUNDS on this title as it may save you from the headaches & regrets that reviews like this are warning you against.
A rhythm-puzzle game? Turba sounded really neat when I first saw it. I was itching to try it out. However, I was sadly disappointed. The #1 thing that destroys this game is its abysmal beat detection. Because the rhythm of the song determines how fast the blocks spawn/move and allows you to get "beat bonuses" for clearing blocks to the beat of the song, it's a key component of the game. Unfortunately, the game often skips beats and detects beats when there are none, completely disrupting the flow of play. A few of the other game mechanics seem a bit off as well. "Beat blocks" are supposed to turn all surrounding blocks black after they count down and explode, but there has been at least one instance of a block being left out of an explosion. As far as I can tell, there is very little discernable difference from the three difficulty levels, and it's possible to play songs that are impossible to lose on, even on the hardest difficulty. If Turba offered custom BPM and beat offset settings per song (features other software is quite easily able to do), this game would probably be redeemable. But with the main mechanic of the game broken, it's hardly worth spending your money on.
