Doesn't work with a controller. Any movement just sends the piece all the way to either side. No analog support. WTF. This wasn't always like this. Why do developers keep killing good games with garbage updates?
I can't stress enough how great this game is. Unfortunately, this is another instance where the Playstation version is the definitive way to play. The first time you switch stages in the PC version, there is a sizeable frametime spike. At first I thought this was a typical case of shader compilation stutter, but it appears the shader is not even cached permanently. It happens every time you reboot the game. To have something so distracting happen in a tight puzzler is a shame
The feeling this game gives me is probably how crack feels
This is a slightly enhanced remake of the original PSP Lumines. All of the same skins (music), modes, and unlockables, but this time there's achievements and leaderboards, which are appreciated. I kind of wish it was an enhanced remake of the first 2 games combined. As it is, will we ever see Lumines 2 Remastered? Almost certainly not, if only because it has a lot of licensed music in it...but for the original songs that are in-house without licensing fees, it would have been nice to see those here. Same for the DLC of the various digital only Lumines releases (like Steam's very own [delisted] Lumines). As I've said in literally every Lumines review, it's a real shame there isn't a custom skin mode, where we can import our own music, backgrounds, sound effects, and have Steam Workshop support; it would extend the life of the game indefinitely. Overall I recommend this, and it does have my personal favorite collection of songs (starts off with a banger in "Shinin'"), but I really hope any future release strongly considers custom skins and Steam Workshop. Also, Lumines Mobile for old phones as well as Lumines on smart phones had original songs and modes and powerups; it'd be nice to see those make a return.
Literally one of my all time favorite games. Lumines is not for everyone but if you haven't ever checked it out it is truly what I like to call Tetris 2.0. I have been playing it since the PSP days and the PC port is wonderful. Cheers to another 1000 hours of this CRACK.
Make no mistake this game is very challenging. That said, if you love games like Tetris, Tetrachroma, Reversii, and/or Meteos than I urge you to get this game (Especially at the current discount) Probably thee most addictive, and mechanically intuitive iteration of the block matching puzzle logic games. Key to all these games is the ability to plan your block placement efficiently, and slowly building up your response time to variable puzzle iterations that usually take people too long to adjust for. The game runs perfectly on Steam Deck as well. NGL this might be thee best iteration of these gameplay mechanics ever put forth, but that's just my take. Anyways, the music as absolutely fire as well. Score: 10/10
Falo com uma tranquilidade de uma certeza inabalável, Lumines é melhor que sexo !
was playing this back on Sony PSP decades ago... still holds up today! defo need to play this one more... 5/5! A++
it's tough but rewarding when you hit a big multiplier combo or link a load of boxes
