In this game our beloved 2hu magical girls showcase their most amazing power yet: the ability to eat five orders of like deep fried greasy meat filled food and wash it down with six beers every night for months and somehow not be disgusting 400 pound fatasses
the cutest game ever!!! music, characters, mechanics, everything is so well done like only women worked on this hehe. even when finishing the game there is so much to do that you can keep playing and enjoying the game. i really recommend this if you're looking for something cozy, cute and wholesome <3
I'm in love with this game. Absolutely adorable.
This game is super cute. I got it on sale for 2.87€, and honestly, at that price it feels like a steal. The sprites are lovely, the gameplay loop is satisfying although pretty repetitive after many hours, and the characters feel authentic to the Touhou lore in general. You can really tell how much effort went into this. The only thing I sometimes struggle with is figuring out what the special characters want when they only hint at their meal preferences. Especially early on, I often don’t know what exactly they’re asking for. But the game was translated from Chinese to English, and English isn’t my first language either, so I think thats just a language barrier for me. Overall, it’s very wholesome, charming, and clearly made with a lot of love. Great game.
Great if you like cooking games. Incredible if you like cooking games and Touhou. Perfect if you like cooking games and want to learn more about Touhou. The loop is fun. Get ingredients, chat with friends, sometimes there's some quests to do too, then run the izakaya. You can plan your menu to suit the tastes of the common guests at the location you're opening at, but the real fun comes when the Touhou girls show up. Make them happy, and their combined spellcards will make you absolutely rich! This was my first Touhou game, since the bullet hell genre it's known for was intimidating to me, but I always loved the music, the fanart, the many fan works. And Mystia's Izakaya is the game that helped me to really learn about the world and the characters in a style that I'm very comfortable with, a cute little cooking game.
This was my first Touhou game and I enjoyed every moment of the main story. It's primarily accompanied me and my Steam Deck on quiet nights abroad, and I can confirm it's a great verified experience (with one exception of a separate DLC's Gensou beat asking for simultaneous D-pad inputs). I completed the game in about 42 hours, but I also played with all the DLC installed so it might take you less time. The DLC is unlocked alongside the base story's progression if you were curious (and I've yet to finish them all). Getting into a groove with my izakaya management and planning the day (or days ahead at times) was very fun. I enjoyed collecting ingredients, being taught new recipes, preparing my menu with variety, and just interacting with the world and characters. You are a small fry youkai in a world bigger than yourself, and I liked this humble tone of Mystia. On top of this, while knowing very little about Touhou, this game introduces you to its inhabitants, culture, locations, and so on in a digestible manner. Touhou is much bigger than this game alone, yet I still found it enjoyable meeting and learning about everything and everyone here. Alice (DLC1), Seija (DLC4), Kyouko, Keine-Sensei, and Suika were some characters I liked.
Pros:

Well-written and charming dialogue with a good story. Really wonderful introduction to the Touhou universe.
Gushing full of character and chances to be introduced to Touhou characters and locations (Hakurei Shrine, Human Village, Scarlet Devil Mansion, etc).
Memorable OST.
Mystia has become one of my (if not number 1) favorite playable protagonists in a video game.
So much content with recipes, friends, and events.
Plays excellently on Deck (perhaps with a very small con of finding the DLC's Gensou Beat difficult because of simultaneous D-pad inputs).

Cons:

Occasional English grammar mistakes and dialogue stringing which make no contextual sense. But I excused this.
Overall, it's a casual restaurant sim. You can take as much time as you need to finish a day and the game won't punish you. You can play stress free with very few exceptions relating to a certain ghost. You might not play this every day, but this was a good time where I absolutely kept coming back to progress the story, discover new dishes, serve the best food I can to new locations, and developing bonds with friends. I think Mystia's Izakaya embodies the best spirit of Touhou fans and why they love the franchise's universe. Totally recommend.
7.5/10: totally worth the price I paid, especially on sale. xD This was the game that pulled me out of a months long gaming rut. If you want something chill but still goal oriented, buy this. Gameplay loop find ingredients > cook > serve customers on repeat. Satisfying enough to keep your brain busy enough without stressing you out.
one of the games you pick up, say "i'll play for a minute",then sink 2 hours into it a day. it becomes an addiction
bought this game on a whim whlist didn't know a single thing about touhou but i gotta say this is one of the best purchases i've ever made! not even 15 hours in and i've already bought the dlc bundle.. that's just how much i enjoyed this game (´∀`)♡
