It's a decent game if you have some time to just throw away, but it mostly just ends there. The game doesn't warrant the price point it is currently at, maybe it's worth it when heavily discounted. This has mostly to do with the repetitive gameplay and the multiple bugs it has. And especially for the achievement hunters it is a big hit that the achievements are completely unobtainable, as they got bugged in a previous patch. As far as I know the game isn't going to get any patches to fix these problems and is completely abandoned by now. Thus in my honest opinion they should just straight up unlist the game from the Steam store or atleast put out a final patch to fix the problems that are present. Because of this I highly recommend against purchasing this game.
Its a cute game and all, but when 4 of the acievements are broken.. i cannot give it a thumbs up, legit stupid that they never fixed it even tho they said they did
A cute and funny retro-style business sim with a fun gameplay loop. The first couple hours were great fun. But it is unstable, crashes, and does not have a working save system . Specific levels are playable from the menu, so I could technically play the levels, as long as I finished each in one sitting and tracked my own progress. The game will not shut down properly when it is Quit from the main menu. Saved games appear functional, and show an updated in-game day and time when viewed from the loading interface. However,Loading any save game crashes the user interface, which often is not apparent until after a lengthy introductory cut-scene. Most commonly: 'cannot open furniture/appliance/deco menus'. I want to be clear: I quite enjoyed the its story arcs the first couple time
Beans: The Coffee Shop Simulator is a game that I played once and kind of immediatly forgot about. It is a sartire game with over the top Twitter hipster humor and repetetive gameplay and a mediocre story. Game Style / Setting / Soundtrack It's a pixel game. But for my taste a bit dull. It reminds me a bit of the early pokemon games so if you like that style, maybe it is for you. The setting is okayish, you have a coffeeshop in different settings, but you don't get to explore the city so eh... The soundtrack is okay but the sfx sounds are super obnoxious in my opinion. I had to turn them off. Gameplay / Gamemechanics You run a coffeshop by clicking stuff and combining things to get new recepies. Also you have to wait for costumers. Literally. It takes forever sometimes... When I played the game a while ago I remember it wasn't really challenge and super repetative. But some people like that and just lay back. It is just not for me. I didn't have as many bugs as other people, or the ones I did encounter were still managable. Story / Characters You can really tell that this game is from 2017. The humor is...well very twitter hipster millenial like. The story itself is okay, the premise was interesting and I thought it would be more of a murder mystery. But not really... It is actually just a tycoon with over the top "humor" that got boring quickly. All you do is pretty much: sell coffe, attract costumers and "decorate".
ACHIEVEMENT HUNTER WARNING: Achievements are broken - none trigger. Sub-par story and broken achievements all-around. Also very buggy. Times when the game would not allow me to place an appliance down in an open/valid spot, requiring me to hit escape twice and spam click that location for it to register. Also, when I "Exit Game" at the home screen, it freezes so I need to close it from the Taskbar (Alt-F4 doesn't even work). Surprised the Devs didn't get around to fixing the bugs given how many rough reviews they've received. Wouldn't waste the money until there are fixes.
I enjoyed the game, too buggy to recommend at the moment, sadly. Achievements fully broken.
Not bad to kill time but honestly there are better simulator type games you can play. It can be pretty dialog heavy at points with no real way to skip past it. It is also pretty buggy. I had to force quit every time I wanted to exit the game. None of the achievements worked. I finally gave up on the final(?) level when one of my purchased appliances disappeared making researching with it impossible.
my friend gave me a code for this game. somehow I still feel robbed of something, my time maybe? my innocence? my sense of wonder? hope? i don't know, but it was a bad time.
It's a fun little game but it's too buggy and broken to recommend. I can't finish the final level because the purchase button keeps disappearing, and achievements seem to be completely broken. I also can't exit the game from the main screen using the exit button, I have to hit the windows key on my keyboard and force quit from there. If these problems get fixed I would happily change my review, as it is a fun short indie game when it works
Feels less like a game, more like a punishment simulator
