Tokyo Xtreme Racer

Zo blij dat deze game race serie weer terug is en het bevalt mij prima. Tokyo Xtreme vroeger veel gespeeld op de Sega Dreamcast en deze game geeft mij weer dat zelfde gevoel terug.

Amazing to have a new version of TXR in 2026. I grew up playin these games on Dreamcast/PS2 and even Import Tuner Challenge on 360. I am HEAVILY disappointed though... It released on PC only but in the late 90s/early 00s the game had WAYYYY more customization. i remember being able to change gauge faces/colors, headlight/tail light options, etc. Kinda seems like genki dropped the ball and invested way too much into the "bp system". I had high hopes for the game based off previous experiences but feels like we just got a graphics upgrade for the most part...

Good game.

I was unsure whether I'd enjoy this, the kind of driving game I usually go for is more technical than highways really allow for and the price feels a bit high, but I've actually enjoyed it a lot. I got it on sale but even if I'd have bought it at full price I wouldn't have been disappointed, so I can't really say it costs too much in full confidence. It's very much the kind of game you can tune out to for a while, and with racing games in the state they've been in for many years now it's very much welcome. The only issue I really have with this is the weird rubber-banding, it's extremely strong and extremely inconsistent in how it activates. So one race you'll have the opponent gain an impossible amount of speed and take off into the distance, then you'll race them again and they'll go down easy. It's not *too* much of an issue in practice, given how short and snappy races are, but it feels a lil bit bad in a game that has a couple of reasons to go for win streaks. Especially since there's an achievement for hitting the true ending with no losses. I imagine there's a lot of alt-f4 involved in getting that one.

Disfrutando de nuevo después de 23 años desde que jugué a TXR 2 en ps2. Ahora, mucho más pulido, con árbol de mejoras, un progreso que se siente real y muy disfrutable. Nada revolucionario, simplemente gameplay nostálgico y que funciona de maravilla. MUY disfrutable y si te gustaron los primeros, este es compra obligatoria.
