It's a platformer about magic and whacking things! What does that mean? It means you go around whacking enemies with your staff to get their magic! But ultimately, all you need to do is make it to the goal!

Tobari and the Night of the Curious Moon is a solid 2D platformer that borrows ideas from Mario and Kirby games. You can jump on enemies or hit them with your staff to defeat them. Enemies will drop power-ups and you can use those throughout the levels. You can also buy power-ups from shops. The aesthetics are both cute and mysterious. The character portraits used in cutscenes look amazing. The music is very nice and really helps set an otherworldly tone. The controls are a little un-precise but after getting used to them they feel right. The game does a good job easing players into the game. The levels start out simple and then gradually increase in difficulty. It gets pretty tough by the end. Overall, I really enjoyed this game.

I'm gonna kill myself
Once you get used to the floaty controls you have yourself a solid platformer. World 4's boss fight was one of the most rewarding victories I've had in a while. The plot is wonderfully cheesy with many laughs to be had. Definitely recommend if you're a 2D platformer fan, I definitely got my money's worth at around $2 at the time but I don't think it's worth it at full price.
Great platformer that's needs some time to get used to. Visuals are decent and the sound is great. The difficulty curve is pretty steep but it leaves plenty of room for trial and error.
Full review at: https://thegamehoard.com/2019/04/26/tobari-and-the-night-of-the-curious-moon-pc/ There was a lot of potential for Tobari and the Night of the Curious Moon to be a cute game that used its level-specific power challenges to gradually go from good fun to engaging challenges, but a lot of the design is undercut by the simple failure of the jumping momentum. It’s a game that can still be played through and enjoyed well enough, but the awkward nature of the slippery movement will lead to mistakes and restarts in a game that really wants to push you to remain extremely accurate in your movements. Having the powers be both important for battle and for level navigation makes them a good fit for adding variety to the play, but even this is let down a little by stages that don’t communicate what is needed well or provide powers in missable ways. Many of the problems can be pushed through with persistence to get to a decent and challenging experience, but a bit more time spent figuring out how to make the momentum mechanics and level design gel better would allow the ideas to blossom into something more enjoyable.
It's sort of like if Bubsy was an anime girl and had Kirby powers.
Holy sh... I really underestemitaed this game. The devs knew how to destroy someone slowly. + good soundtrack + simple story + amazing level design + cool spell variation + funny enemies + good visuals + pretty fast and hard learning curve - ooofff, didnt got past World 6 Boss (so i just gave up and try another time) I think died like 400-500 times in this game. that was pretty amazing on its own. I recommend this game and surely the sequel of it. I heard from a friend, that the "Nightmare" Version of the Sequel is really difficult. 15/10 wtf where did that enemy came from. Give this game a whirl you will really love it.
Sorry but is a big NO for this game, a very poor mechanic with no responsive controls for a platform game. When you jump your character slides like if you are walking on butter. You only have 3 heart and few lifes, when you get some powerup and finish a level you dont continue with your poweups, so you need to buy then again or find then on map. Boos fight are very confused and even hard for this type of game. You canot jump on bosses you can only hit then with magic because they move too fast and you of course too slow. I really try to enjoy this game but is not possible.
ta nice.
