As a big fan of the first game, I was left severely disappointed coming back three years later to finally play this in my backlog. The best way I can sum up my feelings based on what I've played and seen, this sequel feels very lifeless and generic compared to the first game. Perhaps it's just a different vibe that doesn't fully click with me, but the music, level design, and even the artwork feels like a downgrade. Not to mention there aren't any hilarious easter eggs like the first game like the bloopers during cutscenes or the characters reacting to your nonsense in the menu. Feel free to disagree with me completely on this review, it's still a well put together game if you can get down with how jarring it feels compared to the first game.

I have no words. This game really made me feel something. Now, when it comes to video games, I have decently high standards, and most of the games I play with my friends are okay at best, and some other games online are mid in my opinion, but it's gems like Deltarune and Freedom Planet 2 that really make me feel alive. I really like playing these types of games, as I can just play them by myself and not have to worry about teaching someone, about waiting, and I can just explore and get invested in the story and make it my own experience. I'd talk about deltarune more but that's out of scope for this review, haha. Now, what makes this game so great is the main character, Lilac, and all of her other friends, working together to try and save Avalice from Merga, who, has one of the most tragic backstories I have seen out of any villian in a game. When you first meet her, you just think she's just evil for no reason, and wants to destroy everyone, but if you keep playing, more about the two dragon civilizations are revealed, and the dark history behind the world of Avalice finally comes to light. Not to mention the absolute banger of a soundtrack this game has, almost every song makes me want to stop what i'm doing, and just start dancing to the music, as well as listen to it when I'm not playing the game. I really love all of the characters, and seeing Merga talk to Princess Cordelia one last time was really heartbreaking, and the ending to the game felt surreal, and I wanted more, but at the same time, was very proud that I beat the game. Overall, thank you, GalaxyTrail, for publishing a really good game on steam, and putting your heart and passion into it to make me smile. - Matthew
Underrated as HELL. Everything in this game: soundtrack, art style, level design, story; it's all perfect. Highly recommend, especially if you enjoy Sonic games. You will need to play the first one for context, but the first game is fantastic as well.
It's like Sonic but actually fun. Feels great to move quickly through the vibrant stages which are never too long and plenty of them. I wish there were more bangers in the OST but it's still great. Honestly the most fun I've had in a singleplayer game in years.
Hands down one of the best 2D platformers I’ve played! It really takes the Sonic 2D formula and expands it and makes so much many improvements! I can easily see myself dropping 100 hours on this game especially since how content packed it is, definitely worth the $25 and if you love the 2D Sonic games you will love this just as much as those games and even more! Graphics look amazing with the some of the best pixel art I’ve seen with an amazing soundtrack with so many excellent songs! This game also has 4 playable character who are all just amazing to play I found each playthrough with them a blast with their movesets! Thank you dev team for another perfect Freedom Planet game
literally the best game of all time and everyone needs to play it. sometimes i dream of neera li caressing me and telling me to call her mommy
Holy moly the music is so lit. Gorgeous character design and game play!
(not you ancestral forge)
I've played the first game for quite a long time, before the PS4 Port was even released, actually. WIth that in mind, this is an amazing sequel that lived up to the hype, without a doubt in my mind! the Music is amazing, the level design is great, the visuals are stunning, and the story is heavily addicting. Hugely recommend! Note: If your PC isn't all that powerful, it's best to avoid using VSync, as it can make the game pretty sluggish in the framerate. Disabling it will fix it.
The Gameplay is fire The Spritework is gorgeous The Writing The Music is rad 7.5/10
