About
Mankind turned Earth into a dry wasteland and perished, but some species adapted and evolved. Pick one of the beaver factions and see how long your colony can last.
Control one of two beaver factions: the nature-friendly Folktails or the industrious Iron Teeth. Each faction has unique buildings, technology, and gameplay traits. Choose what fits your playstyle!
Prepare your settlement for recurring droughts and waves of toxic waste. Stockpile food and keep fields and forests alive even after rivers dry up. Rely on both natural water sources and artificial irrigation to keep the land arable and your beavers safe.
Beavers’ engineering skills are legendary. With Timberborn’s 3D water physics and terraforming, so can be yours. Put up dams and floodgates, erect massive aqueducts, dig canals and tunnels with explosives, and reshape the terrain to your liking.
Harness the game’s unique vertical architecture system. Space is limited, so stack lodges and workshops on top of each other. Construct platforms and bridges, set up an elaborate power grid, and let your beavers speed around on ziplines or through tubeways.
Turn timber into sophisticated machinery – from water wheels and lumber mills to engines and mechanized pumps. Wood is the core resource in Timberborn, but the most advanced structures require metal. To find it, send your scavengers to the ruins of the old world.
Automate tasks across your settlement by creating an intricate system of sensors, relays, counters, and other tools for advanced engineers. Self-controlling dams and factories are just the beginning.
Supercharge your colony with mechanized beavers. Power them up, maintain them, and you'll get extra-efficient workers for almost any job. They operate 24/7, and you can send them to the most hazardous areas.
Build a sprawling city with efficient production chains and follow the lives of its inhabitants day and night. As the population grows, satisfy your evolved rodents with a balanced diet, entertainment, decorations, and end-game monuments that help restore the Earth.
Play on one of the included maps or create your own and share it with the community. On top of the built-in map editor, Timberborn features official mod support. Tons of extra player-made content and quality-of-life additions are available, with more coming each day.

This is one of my favorite cozy games. Super relaxing and entertaining
I work hard so my BEAVERS can live better
Sorely disappointing for a 1.0 There's no endgame goal to strive for and once you solve the only real difficult threat (which you aren't warned about before it happens, the tutorial seems half-baked) there's not much to do other than build and expand. And while I get that for a city builder, some end-state would have been preferable so I can move on to another map/difficulty/beaver type. Building for building's sake is a lazy copout by developers. The gameplay itself is pretty basic, not challenging, and gets old quick. No events, no lore, just - build and expand until you get bored. I have no idea how this is so highly rated, it's entirely overpriced for what you get.
District system and micromanagement are tedious, but on 50x50 maps like Diorama the tight space actually makes it a fun puzzle and solves these issues. Overall it's a great game just keep the maps small.
One reviewer said if you like Civ 6, you will like Timberborn. That is not necessarily false, but I’m not sure it’s true either. Civ 6 is a more complex game, not to mention it has an actual endgame. Indeed, it seems so many of those who leave a “Not Recommended” review are criticizing Timberborn for not being Civ 6. The common thread in many of those reviews is that you reach a point where you just run out of things to do in Timberborn. Your beavers have sufficient resources and you have figured out how to deal with the droughts and badtides. You could accumulate more science points to unlock more automation, but why? Chasing achievements, building monuments or otherwise increasing your beavers’ well-being all seems like busywork. Why bother doing it all over again on a new map? There should be more challenges, an endgame, the thrill of victory, a spot on the leaderboard. I get it. If you are a completionist, this might not be your game. Timberborn offers something different, something quite satisfying if you buy into the whole water motif. You can easily become hooked on making your water management most efficient, even elegant, and on making your hard-working beavers' lives better. Timberborn does what it does wonderfully well. Even if you only get 35 hours of enjoyment out of it and only play one map, that’s $1 per hour and, in my opinion, money well-spent. Or you could just play Civ 6. :)
After 90 hours I am still figuring out new things. Water mechanics are great, it's really satisfying seeing a barren or toxic land come back to life, populated with beavers.
Loved it, played 16 hours straight first time launching it
