78/100 This game was a surprise, a HUGE surprise for me, and a very pleasent one, with the only negative clearly being almost 80% due to an apparent lack of budget Amazing gameplay and mechanics, a very complete skill system, a BEAUTIFUL parry system that echoes that one of Sekiro, and, as few as they are, some very good bosses and enemies, with really cool fight and "fatal hits" that give it a little cinematic touch The lore is simple, direct, to the point, and well done, the length is... Short, honestly, specially for what it could've been, the game had potential and very cool stuff that could've given it life for some more hours, but it being the first game of OverBorder Studio, honestly? Amazing job and very well done The music on the last boss is amazing and the fights are very fun, the claw/wound system is really good and original, and gives a fresh and new experience compared to titles like Sekiro or Dark Souls The only thing that pulls this away from an even higher ranking, is that it doesn't hold to what it could have been, like i said, probably because of budget, no voice acting, cinematics that lack "substance", it lacks that "epic" effect that makes you remember it forever, the one that games like Dark Souls 3 or Sekiro has At the same time, the optimization, as much as i hate hating on games because optimization issues, is just... terrific, with micro stutters at certain points, some even critical (game would freeze for 3 entire seconds or even 5), and some bugs like the enemies walking on place, is the sort of stuff that isn't the core, but that makes a whole, and in this one, you can notice there's flaws on there Outside of that, as i said, it's a very good souls-like that searches to innovate in some aspect, and achieves it, with a good skill tree, not overly-complicated, and simple mechanics that are good enough for what the game's length is Overall, a nice experience, not ultra memorable, which is why it doesn't surpass the 80/100 barrier, but even like that, really good, and if a "Thymesia 2" ever comes out (which i doubt, taking on count how the true ending was), i'm REALLY gonna look forward to it, because there's huge potential on this
Simply AMAZING! I did not expect it to be this freaking fun. Solid combat mechanics, mixes Bloodborne (Apparently - I've never played) and Sekiro's parry system. Fluid implementation of boss mechanics, simple move sets yet very challenging. I will be frank, I had no idea about the story, I could pay no attention to it at all, the game could have used some sort of voice acting for narration. Exploration is non existent and tedious. I had no interest in going through optional areas, I did it regardless. Solid short souls-like game, everyone must give this a go!
This game encompasses annoying things other games in this genre have patched out or addressed to some degree. Other games do it better, like Khazan, Black Myth Wukong, Sekiro, Elden Ring, Stellar Blade ["souls-lite"], Lies of P, Lords of the Fallen, AI Limit, even the demo for Mortal Shell 2. The combat system just isn't fun to engage with or learn from, because it's so inconsistent, frustrating, and poor in execution. I wouldn't recommend this even on discount, because the game is 4 years old. I doubt any changes will be coming. Pros: -You can respec your skill-tree for free for experimentation. Only at the checkpoint bonfire -Performance was fine. It's not a big game anyway Cons: -0 enemy staggers. No matter how many times you attack them, light or the heavy claw attack, enemies tank through your damage, and is able to attack you uninterrupted while you're locked in your attack animation. Even special attacks that literally describes "staggers your enemies" don't reliably stagger them, notably the mini-bosses. -Speaking of animation, there's no animation cancelling as a trade-off to address this, only "super armor" in the skill tree for the claw-attack, which again, is very hard to tell if it's even active. -Poor enemy telegraphs and hitboxes, especially enemy spears. -Basic quality of life features that should have been part of the default combat experience are seemingly locked away in the skill-tree or not present at all. Example: Longer parry windows (Lvl 1.) skill should have been the default. Example 2: Blocking skill should have been available by default, but you can ONLY pick parrying OR blocking. Why not both? -Parrying/dodging is very clunky and inconsistent. -No voice acting at all. Story is only told through many text and notes littered all over the map. This wouldn't be an issue if the combat system was good. I wanted to like this, but the poor execution and questionable design decisions of the combat hampered the experience. It just comes off as a game riddled with artificial difficulty for no reason at all.
Thymesia a short and fast Soulslike that most connoisseurs of the genre would rate higher than the 7/10 I'd give it because its combat is considered really great, but that combat never really clicked for me. I suck at parrying except for the most telegraphed attacks, and I suck at "interrupting" critical attacks, so it was all I could do to dodge around like crazy before landing a few hits in. Thankfully the game has no stamina mechanic. Still, the game is very well made so I'd recommend it for anyone into the "fast/aggressive combat" sub-subgenre of Soulslikes.
Очень маленький Souls Like.
Thymesia is a game that could have been great, but it ended up feeling like a hot pile of garbage. The learning curve isn't smooth. While you are trying to get used to the mechanics, the game severely punishes you. The first "elite" enemy and the first boss took way too long to beat, forcing an incredibly passive playstyle just to stay alive. Enemies possess insane amounts of hyperarmor, making it almost impossible to stagger them. Many enemy attacks stretch much further than they look, hit multiple times, and track you across the arena. Because you can't interrupt them, you are forced to constantly back off or 'get gud' and learn the parry timings. Then, if you try to take advantage of what looks like a lull in their combo, they'll keep attacking, and you'll get hit anyway. To make matters worse, the core mechanics can sometimes geel unresponsive. I noticed countering critical attacks frequently failing to register, meaning you end up getting hit despite timing it correctly. The camera lock-on system actively works against you. If you do play, make sure to turn off their auto-camera nonsense. If you lock onto an enemy and try to roll backward to create space, the game locks you at a specific distance from the enemy, which will cause you to roll sideways instead, which can cause you to unintentionally dodge straight into danger. If you prefer a dodging playstyle, this game is absolutely not for you. Parrying is a strict requirement. I say "parrying," but it is really just perfect blocking; there is no true parry because it will never actually stagger the enemy. You are forced to perfect-block just to chip away at their white health, or you can use normal attacks to chip at the white health, and only then can you use plague attacks to lower their actual health. The pacing is completely off. On more than one quest, I would spent a ton of time clearing levels and stacking my XP, only to reach a boss with not enough XP to level up. Because the game punishes you straight out of the gate, you are guaranteed to die and drop the XP stack in the arena. While I never permanently lost my stack, it was incredibly annoying having to run in and retrieve it before starting every single attempt. All in all this game had a lot of potential, but the jank outweighed the fun. Not recommended. Also, WHY is every Scythe enemy's background animation using it as a pickaxe?
我真的很少打差评 基本没有打过 但是这个游戏真的问题太多了 键位迷 操作迷 手感稀烂 弹反也很差 作为类魂真的有点太失败了 就算打折22也不值得
Overall, the game was fine, but definitely a one‑and‑done experience for me. The combat system is great, but the level design drags it down fighting the same enemy type with the same moveset over and over gets boring fast. The bosses were okay, maybe even too easy. It’s a decent game, but nothing I’d ever replay. There are simply better games in this genre.
