Rating 4/10 TL:DR Game is an overall disappointment of running and fighting through a maze of vents while killing regular old enemies and then getting to enjoy a literal handful of bosses and an entirely absent main storyline. The only time I would EVER recommend this game is if you have played EVERY other soulslike game and wanted to "complete" a list of them for your own personal satisfaction (this was my situation). I REALLY wish there were more bosses because the 5 of them were actually REALLY fun and creatively designed. The game has a unique take on character progression and the ACTUAL combat and combos are fun to use when you learn them and the executions are SICK. Things I liked: The executions do not get old for me, they were satisfying the whole way through The bosses were unique and memorable and fun that all had creative solutions, albeit very easy for the genre. The attack combo system provides the player with a lot of control throughout the fight and makes them feel very fluid. The character progression is unique and feels fresh. Things I didn't like (here we go): There are 5 bosses total, in a soulslike game like what?? The story and characters were interesting to start and then it feels like they were ENTIRELY abandoned. I finished multiple characters quest lines to the end and wish I never wasted my time. The areas you spend the most time in are a series of hallways and ventilation shafts, they are a maze and extremely hard to build a mental map of. This might just be due to the setting and it being entirely indoors. The regular enemies are harder than the bosses by a mile. Robot enemies have a tendency to entirely stun lock you in some scenarios, leaving you no agency. Mostly seen with the 3 legged dog robot. Blocking is absolutely useless and perfect blocking feels bad even when successful and that is IF it actually works which is intermittent. I understand what the developer was trying to do with the timer on lost tech scrap (putting pressure on you), but it feels absolutely horrendous in my opinion. Switching between targets is impossibly frustrating which lead me to only ever try to fight one enemy at a time ever. Stagger against targets feels entirely random. I don't know who decided that putting enemies in a pitch black vent was a good idea. Swapping weapon types does not feel feasible due to the weapon proficiency system. Upgrading armor does not feel impactful. For the first 10 hours of the game I felt like I was forcing myself to keep going I kept telling myself it would eventually click. And it did and I felt a small island where I felt like I would really end up loving this game. Then the second half of the game was the same slog of ventilation shaft mazes and killing regular ass enemies. Not to mention that the last segment has an enemy that is entirely impractical to try and kill and I ended up death running past them because I wasn't going to try and figure out why they were repeatedly healing and why the execute prompt only showed up for a microsecond before disappearing. The side quests and characters left me feeling entirely disappointed in the end and the main story line felt disjointed and lacking entirely. I really wish I could recommend this game, but it is not worth playing unless you want to check it off your list of soulslike games. I really hope that the sequel improved on some of these things.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Potential: 7/10 Fun: 4/10 Mechanics: 5/10 Lore: 8/10 Immersion: 6/10 Overall = 5/10 TL;DR = Poorly constructed and artificially hard game, frustrating and cumbersome to progress. Great combat and amazing boss battles, interesting lore and immersive (locks you in) The only version of Pragmata i can afford, lol. Ignore my playtime, i'm on the third section of the game (Biolabs) at the moment of this review and i'm honestly just disappointed. The Surge is like a middle ground between Dead Rising, Dead Space and Dark Souls, if you know that combo you can imagine that the game is hard as hell and doesn't try to hide it in any way. I mean it, i never played a game that hates you as much as this one, it's a "f*ck you" in almost any aspect. Btw, the game clearly was intended to be played on consoles as the movement and combat systems really benefit from a controller, which i also consider a drawback. The real problem with this game is that it's artificially hard, completely and unnecesarily unforgiving, the maps are confusing, there's sections where you just don't know where to go, enemies sometimes spawn out of nowhere and there are hidden traps that can make you die instantly even if you made everything right, the game makes you use your memory to recall the steps you made in a severely punishing way, which is not something new or unique per se, but the progression system is also completely messed up, i literally forgot that i had an inventory until the very end of the SECOND SECTION, i don't even know how i managed to survive. You WILL end up frustrated and/or angry, enemies also respawn when you die (except bosses, whose fights are awesome and really good) and there's simply not that much in the game to make you feel rewarded for pushing forward except the lore which i find really compelling and interesting. I disagree that this game is for hardcore players, it's a game for unemployed* players if anything. It saddens me because i think the idea is actually good, i'll keep playing till i reach the end, but i cannot recommend it to anyone.
TOLLES GAME!
This game is incredibly draining—on your emotions, your spirit, and your time. The characters move slowly; if you get hit by the boss, you die instantly and have to start over from the beginning. You lose all your items when you die. This game is so frustrating, I feel like smashing my monitor. My armor is fully upgraded, but I still die from a single hit from the boss. I hate whoever came up with this game’s concept. It’s driving me crazy.
Excelente juego
