Reviews
This game is incredibly draining—on your emotions, your spirit, and your time. The characters move slowly; if you get hit by the boss, you die instantly and have to start over from the beginning. You lose all your items when you die. This game is so frustrating, I feel like smashing my monitor. My armor is fully upgraded, but I still die from a single hit from the boss. I hate whoever came up with this game’s concept. It’s driving me crazy.
Greatly enjoyed the combat as well as the incredible way the technology is integrated into the lore

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Potential: 7/10 Fun: 4/10 Mechanics: 5/10 Lore: 8/10 Immersion: 6/10 Overall = 5/10 TL;DR = Poorly constructed and artificially hard game, frustrating and cumbersome to progress. Great combat and amazing boss battles, interesting lore and immersive (locks you in) The only version of Pragmata i can afford, lol. Ignore my playtime, i'm on the third section of the game (Biolabs) at the moment of this review and i'm honestly just disappointed. The Surge is like a middle ground between Dead Rising, Dead Space and Dark Souls, if you know that combo you can imagine that the game is hard as hell and doesn't try to hide it in any way. I mean it, i never played a game that hates you as much as this one, it's a "f*ck you" in almost any aspect. Btw, the game clearly was intended to be played on consoles as the movement and combat systems really benefit from a controller, which i also consider a drawback. The real problem with this game is that it's artificially hard, completely and unnecesarily unforgiving, the maps are confusing, there's sections where you just don't know where to go, enemies sometimes spawn out of nowhere and there are hidden traps that can make you die instantly even if you made everything right, the game makes you use your memory to recall the steps you made in a severely punishing way, which is not something new or unique per se, but the progression system is also completely messed up, i literally forgot that i had an inventory until the very end of the SECOND SECTION, i don't even know how i managed to survive. You WILL end up frustrated and/or angry, enemies also respawn when you die (except bosses, whose fights are awesome and really good) and there's simply not that much in the game to make you feel rewarded for pushing forward except the lore which i find really compelling and interesting. I disagree that this game is for hardcore players, it's a game for unemployed* players if anything. It saddens me because i think the idea is actually good, i'll keep playing till i reach the end, but i cannot recommend it to anyone.
I'm really enjoying my playthrough. Picked up both the original and The Surge 2 while on sale. The game is challenging and sometimes you have pay attention to find all the routes and hidden pathways. Also the enemies have flattened me more than id like to recall. Sometimes to a level of frustration that surpasses what I've dealt with in Elden Ring. The reason for this is because finding routes/shortcuts are important to be able to get your xp when you die. Sometimes I missed some of these shortcuts so I had to go a looong way to be able to make it to my destination safely. If I happen to die means I had to go a looong way back to get my stuff and allot of the time I failed. All in all the game feels super rewarding. I'm absolutely locked in and look forward everyday to getting back in it. Key Tips: 1. Split your activities between progression, exploration and gearining/lvling up. It will make the game alot less frustrating if you separate these activities as you progress through the game. 2. If you feel like your absolutely lost, hop on Youtube to get some much needed direction .
not a good first impression when basic game mechanics are items that need to be equipped
