About

One by one, everyone left the once bustling village for the city. Everyone, except Talma. Now approaching the end of her days, she maintains a simple, solitary way of life, surviving, subsisting, tending to her homestead and her goats.
Develop your own personal routine as you care for your farm and your animals. Tend to your goats, make cheese with their milk, collect eggs and cook meals, grow vegetables and barter with the travelling merchant who brings increasingly disturbing letters from your family in the city.
A follow up to the critically acclaimed Where the Goats Are, The Stillness of the Wind is a quiet rumination on life and loss.

Breed and look after your goats, make cheese from their milk, grow vegetables, water your plants, collect eggs, scare off the birds. It’s a hard but simple life of peaceful subsistence.

The travelling merchant brings letters from your family and friends and with them a view into a city that feels both very far away and as if it threatens to wash away the world you know.

It's up to you how you spend Talma’s time each day and what your routine will be. Focus on your chores, wander in the desert, reminisce about the past or draw patterns in the dirt.

Trade cheese and other items in return for hay for your goats, seeds to plant, fables, exotic items and shotgun shells, whilst exchanging conversation with the travelling merchant, your only human interaction.

Where the Goats Are was Memory of God's first game. The Stillness of the Wind will be a follow up, expanding on the original concept.

Когда душа программиста требует творчества, а голова ещё спит — получается «The Stillness of the Wind». Вердикт: «The Stillness of the Wind» — это не фича, а баг.
The Stillness of the Wind is a game about Nana, an elderly woman, whose family has all moved away to the city. With little time remaining in her life, she spends her final months maintaining her family farm. Each day she's visited by a local trader, who shares news from the city. Letters from her family become increasingly worrying, and Nana's world grows increasingly disturbing as her life comes to an end. The Stillness of the Wind is a painfully obvious allegory for senility and death, revolving around Nana's struggles to maintain the farm in her final days. As all her family has passed on, or moved away, Nana's only connection is the trader who visits almost daily. The trader carries letters from Nana's family and friends, which begin fairly normal. However, these letters become increasingly disturbing, implying that all society may be collapsing just beyond the edges of Nana's farm. The core gameplay loop is basically a farming sim. Nana wakes up each day, and needs to care for the goats, raise some crops, and generally keep herself well fed and rested. The trader exchanges goods like more chickens for processed farm products, such as cheese or vegetables. Nana can also forage in the desert for mushrooms, should she desperately need provisions. Every so often a game elicits a cold rage within me, and I'm sorry to say that The Stillness of the Wind happens to be one such game. While I get that this game is trying to make a point about growing old, and dying... I question whether they needed to make the gameplay so, painfully tedious. My first critique is Nana's movement speed. I've seen 90 year olds move faster than her. There's no way to make her move faster, and the desert is absurdly large. Given there's no way to alter the camera's angle, whenever Nana leaves the farm there's a non-zero chance you'll spend half an hour aimlessly wandering back home. The next critique, is easily the narrative of The Stillness of the Wind. Frankly, there is not one. The player is thrust into Nana's daily life and expected to basically just do chores until they die from old age. It's not only laughably depressing, but also an insultingly poor respect for the player's time. The only real narrative content in the game are delivered through Nana examining things around the farm, which she basically comments upon like someone in the throws of dementia, or the letters she reads, which are equally unreliable. The Stillness of the Wind gives the player no reason to care about Nana, which makes the experience as icy as the coming Winter. The Stillness of the Wind is not even compelling as a farming sim, with the game intentionally sabotaging player progress for the sake of the narrative. I experienced an irrational fury when it finally dawned upon me that the flowers which I'd been carefully tending to for almost half the game never did, and never would serve any functional purpose. It's a skip. A hard skip. I would not recommend others play The Stillness of the Wind. It's more than apparent to me that the developers were trying to intertwine the narrative with the gameplay experience; however, when the theme of the game is senility and death, it makes for less than compelling gameplay. Much like Nana, by the end of this five hour ordeal, I too was craving the sweet release of death.
It's hard to leave a negative review but even though I went in anticipating a slow pace to emphasise how much it takes talma to get things done, the slow pace was... beyond slow, not even just when she was moving but also, every cutscene, every nightly pan out of the little farm, literally everything, this game had an hour and a half's worth of story (being generous) and took several hours. I also definitely hit wolves and they didn't die but killed my goats. There's also just a lot we don't know, I had to restart the game early on because i'd gone days without milking my goats because I wasn't sure how to do so, I also spent eggs on flower seeds without realising they didn't help gameplay at all and I really struggled with exploring outside the farm at all, considering it was such a hassle just to water plants and make cheese, and yes I get that's part of the theming with an old woman struggling to manage a farm by herself but still. And then towards the end apparently firewood was being used the whole time to cook? Why do you necessarily need wood for already made cheese and veg? You can eat those raw and that component coming in only at the end so she can't eat is so forced, I would've stockpiled or bought wood if it was an option. Also this one was my fault but I really struggled once my goats got kids because of the increased hay demands, I should've just sold them, alas, they were killed by wolves anyway. Wolves that I definitely hit several times despite her bad aim. Just went wayyyyy over my frustration threshold and then the ending which I was excited for and should've been moving was such a slog, I only found afterwards that depending on your actions the figures present in the dream sequence/afterlife vision change and I am completely uncertain how many figures were even in mine considering, and I can't stress this enough the cutscene was boring me too much to pay attention. No way I'm replaying it. All that said, I did enjoy the gameplay early on once I figured out the basics, the art is lovely and atmospheric and the background music/effects are well done, eventually I just became too stressed because the game story means it's designed so it's impossible to successfully farm, and like I get it... I genuinely do get the point of that, but as a game experience it went on for so long and literally nothing I tried working eventually made the tragic vibes wear thin. I really do love Talma though. I wish there was a way to save her. The dude who shows up to trade from time to time was also nice and I enjoyed his storybeats, especially their goodbye.
Truly sad but fulfilling game that I have completely played through many times now. Would have loved more face to face character time with some of the relatives or a longer time with Talma, but at last that wasn't the case. One of my favorite cozy but not cozy games.
Stillness of the wind is a point & click game about a women named Talma and her farming days in isolation far away from her family who had gone to live in the city. The soothing music of the game plus the peaceful farming makes quite a cozy combo that just eases you into the game. The sound of the goats, birds, chicken, the travelling pedeller who sells us things, our happy little moments in the farm made it super easy for me to immerse myslef in the game. Althought it is just a point & click game, the cozy farming, the background music and the sad story makes the game worth it . I highly recommend this game to all.
Won't spoil any of it (cause I honestly don't even know how), but just to make sure, the positive reviews of this game are for the message and symbolism it conveys, not for the gameplay. The gameplay is pretty slow, boring and with no direction or tutorial.
