About
“There were myriads of good reasons for shunning the nameless city, one for each strange tale passed from generation to generation.
Tales averted people from entering the city, even from getting closer to its walls, and legends say that it was older than the eldest of the pyramids; few say it was older than humanity itself. But there was no legend so old as to give it a name.”
The Nameless City is a narrative-driven first person adventure inspired by Lovecraft's short novel of the same name. It has lo-fi 3D graphics inspired by the PSX era.
A playthrough should take about 50 minutes. The game has some light puzzle elements, but the main focus of the game is exploring the ruins of the ancient city. You can save your progress and continue later, but it's recommended to play it in one sitting.

Its an inspired walking simulator. Easy to play in an hour and it didn't need to be any longer.
Follow "First Person Exploration and Puzzle Games" for more games like this!
Another horror walking-simulator with a PS1 aesthetic. This one's alright. There is a bit of gameplay and a handful of puzzles, but mostly it's just walking. The entire experience lasts 45 minutes. The audio does a really good job of setting the atmosphere. There is text with a voiceover to explain the story - the text is really well-written, but whoever did the voiceover is clearly not a native English speaker and mispronounced a lot of the harder words, which was a bit unnerving. Overall, if creepy PS1-style games are your thing, this is a good one to try.
не смотря на некоторые огрехи, в целом неплохая игра по одноименному рассказу, много от игры не рассчитывайте, но в целом можно играть, цена все равно не слишком высокая (по крайней мере когда я купил).
Didn't enjoy the puzzles very much. Wasn't for me.
I really wanted to like this game, and the first 40 or so minutes was exactly what I hoped for. Good exploration, interesting lore snippets, nice retro horror graphical vibes. And then the game suddenly dumps you into a frustrating abstract puzzle section where you have to open and close gates in a certain order. If it was a couple switches it might have been okay, but this was like dumping you straight into level 10 of some puzzle game. It feels completely out of place and completely kills the pace and mood.
Good game, bad price. It was fun, atmospheric, and gave me the exact same vibe as classic Lovecraftian works, but it's 45 minutes of gameplay was not worth the price. If a game can be beaten within under half the allowable playtime before refunding, it should be free. Play it, then refund it.
This is a markedly short game, with very little in the means of captivating writing and interesting mysteries. The use of AI-generated content is fully disclosed by the developers, and they seem to have a reason to use it. So I won't mark it against them, but it certainly doesn't do this game any favours. The voice-work is also subpar, with the player-narrator mispronouncing multiple words and failing to lend their emotions to the work well. There are moments when things shine through, some of the puzzles are interesting, and the journal/spellbook idea is probably the best of the lot. It is, unfortunately, underutilised. With the addition of more nouns and verbs, needing to reference your spellbook in real time for combat or puzzle solving? It could be the basis of a genuinely interesting game. Alas, the shortness of the game prevents it from ever really getting to evolve to that point. In my personal opinion, this game would serve better being free-to-play, as all the above complaints I had are really only as this is a paid product. It is obviously not wrong for a developer to want to be paid for their work, but The Nameless City does not feel like a product worth the price of entry.
it's difficult for me to find a way to talk about this game. enjoyable art direction, good voice acting, ear-ringing sound design, and, recently, they replaced any AI generated assets previously used. the issue comes down to the fact that i do not that most players would enjoy it. it is a walking simulator with some "puzzles" of using various glyphs given to the player to bypass or activate obstacles. it is much more enjoyable if you are a player who has read the original story, or you have an appreciation for lovecraft's weaker stories. it takes its own liberties, indeed, but i do not believe it fully grasps the fascinating parts of the original story other than some direct quotes. does this mean i didn't enjoy this? no, as i've given it a recommendation. i got to reread a lovecraft story i forgot, and i enjoy how it attempted to replicate the feeling. but like another user in these reviews said, lovecraft games hardly nail it, and i do not blame the developers whatsoever. i enjoyed the beautiful contrasts of purple and yellow, and i thought the glyph system was pretty cool despite being as simple as it was. there are interesting ideas here that would be fascinating to experience in a larger game that i do not think will happen. i would still recommend this to eldritch players when it goes on sale.\
Very fun but very short, enjoyable and great atmosphere
This is sadly another entry to the list "Lovecraftian game that fails Lovecraft" And what a shame, as the Nameless City is one of my favourite stories. It's just like with every other adaption: Stay true to the source or make something of your own, both is neither acceptable nor good...
