About
The Message from Deep Space is an odyssey of puzzles. Take the role of the mission's Translator, working alongside a scrappy band of scientists, and venture headfirst into the world of deciphering an alien language --- completely from the ground up.
Set in 1973, Earth is the recipient of a meteorite that broadcasts radio waves. In the role of the mission's Translator, the player is responsible for designing responses to the meteorite's transmissions, which, if correct, will elicit new messages from the meteorite. Only through this radio wave dialogue will patterns, words, syntax, and meaning all take form, leaving but one question:
What is it the aliens want to say?
Translate an alien language
Learn about an alien civilization
Interface with a retro computer
Manage a user-driven dictionary
Design radio transmissions by frequency
Collaborate with scientists that respond to your actions
+1000 in-game dialogues
+30 minutes OST
+30 hours of gameplay
Inspired by The Golden Record aboard the Voyager I space probe, The Message from Deep Space takes a realistic approach to deciphering an interstellar message. Beginning with the limited universal constants available to technologically advanced civilizations, the message spans a range of real-world fields of math & science. Decoding the message is tough, but with the support of the game's meticulous linguist, the single-minded computer programmer, and the affable astronomer, it is a challenge fit for anyone with Curiosity and Perseverance.

Fantastic
Best most creative puzzle game ever made. I didn't manage to beat it, it gets harder as it goes on. Incredibly rewarding though. There's >900 messages to translate, and by around #450 you're communicating in the alien language in full sentences. Really good game
The best puzzle game I have played. Buy it and play it now.
Remember and grief.
I really love this game. You really do get the full experience of translating an alien language from scratch, and also you get a great simulation of the experience of working closely with a small team of experts over a period of months. It's clear that a lot of attention and care went into this game. You build out your translation from first principles (utter basics, raw numbers) to complete sentences. The process doesn't skip steps or make leaps in logic. Because of this, it can become tedious at times, but also because of this, it's deeply immersive and rewarding. The dialog is really well written, it adds life to the world, stakes to the project, and also gives the player hints and context when There's a crazy amount of dialog and game content for the price, with no filler in sight. It's criminally underpriced at $9.99 USD imo.
i have not played for long and im already hooked
Really good game. But it makes my head hurt. Numbers are hard, Alien numbers are really hard.
This is perhaps the best translation game I have ever played and may ever play. Saying more would ruin it. Try the demo, see if it's for you first. If it is, you'll know.
Fun game. A bit too much math and not enough decyphering.
Exceptional Puzzle game. Full of deep thought, logic and wonder. All of the characters are wonderfully written and now that I have completed the game, I feel like I could go meet Akers or Bautista or Collins at Hot Patties for lunch. Instantly one of my favorite games. Some of the specific signals required me to look up help, because my logic was barking up the wrong tree and I would have never been able to solve it without external direction. The steam discussions page is the best source of hints for something like that. Would recommend this to anyone who has any interest in puzzles, coding, language learning, logic, or philosophy. Difficult, but not "Dark Souls" difficult. Feels good to figure something out more than just looking up hints. Others have compared it to Outer Wilds with "the less you know before, the more you get from it", I agree.
