About
The Message from Deep Space is an odyssey of puzzles. Take the role of the mission's Translator, working alongside a scrappy band of scientists, and venture headfirst into the world of deciphering an alien language --- completely from the ground up.
Set in 1973, Earth is the recipient of a meteorite that broadcasts radio waves. In the role of the mission's Translator, the player is responsible for designing responses to the meteorite's transmissions, which, if correct, will elicit new messages from the meteorite. Only through this radio wave dialogue will patterns, words, syntax, and meaning all take form, leaving but one question:
What is it the aliens want to say?
Translate an alien language
Learn about an alien civilization
Interface with a retro computer
Manage a user-driven dictionary
Design radio transmissions by frequency
Collaborate with scientists that respond to your actions
+1000 in-game dialogues
+30 minutes OST
+30 hours of gameplay
Inspired by The Golden Record aboard the Voyager I space probe, The Message from Deep Space takes a realistic approach to deciphering an interstellar message. Beginning with the limited universal constants available to technologically advanced civilizations, the message spans a range of real-world fields of math & science. Decoding the message is tough, but with the support of the game's meticulous linguist, the single-minded computer programmer, and the affable astronomer, it is a challenge fit for anyone with Curiosity and Perseverance.

Super interesting game that had me hooked immediately, I was skeptical when I checked out the demo only to end up putting over two hours into it without even noticing the time! The concept is really compelling and does a great job of making every bit of progress exciting, definitely nailed that feeling of discovery. I'm still only part way through and have plenty more to go from what I've seen, but I can't wait to see it through to the end! The game does expect you to have a moderate amount of mathematical knowledge, as a warning to anyone who may be deterred by that and didn't realize it would be more than basic operations on that front. It's tough but rewarding, and I love how customizable everything is. It really makes it feel like you're solving this mystery and making discoveries on your own rather than just filling in blanks the game gives you!
a deeply human game hidden under a difficult, puzzly shell. Keep going, it's worth it.
It was such an enjoyable experience throughout. Head-scratching moments followed by euphoria of a breakthrough in understanding. Aside from the transmission solving, I also grew to love the team and Doppler as their characters became more fleshed out. There were enough twists and turns to keep me engaged and it was a good mix of light maths/science and language interpretation. If you consider yourself a curious person I think you'll also love this game. Give it time, and trust that the rudimentary maths will pass and you'll get much more story and bigger discoveries.
Truly unique game. Makes me feel both smart and dumb at the same time, like any good puzzle.
I want to like this game, but it suffers in a lot of places. Some of the puzzles make no sense or contain mistakes. The hints seem to only be available on the relatively easy puzzles. When you encounter the harder ones, you're left in the dark. I like the game, but the puzzles seem like the developer went for quantity over quality.
#484で、
IF V0 == 0 THEN V0 IS DEFINED AND V1 == 2
IF V1 == 2 THEN
V1 IS DEFINED AND V0 == 1
V0 == 1 AND ...
V1 IS DEFINED
This is a super fun puzzle game about communication. Trying to figure out what the meteor is trying to convey only with the information the meteor has already given is a really cool idea that is executed very well.
Intricate, fun and deeply satisfying puzzle game that manages to stay fresh even 20 hours into it, and with a surprisingly hopeful and introspective core to boot. Easy recommend if you have the same kind of brain disease as me and can stomach a lot of math for the first 3 acts or so, it's really worth it.
