This game is REALLY short. I've been playing for 3.5 hours and I've completed the storyline once and am working through it again. It's a cute story, even if (like me) you have no connection to Redwall. I do wish the story would continue, though. I want to see where it goes!
The Uncivil Weekly Release Party! - Quick Pros & Cons from our Game Session: PROS! -Probably enjoyable for fans of the series -Easy-going gameplay -Pleasant music CONS! -Not attention grabbing -Too much dialogue, we want to COOK -Glitchy minigames at times Video Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0RuMk8qmCQ
So far, love the art style and the idea of being a Little Guy who is a Chef. Have never read Redwall. Think the controls could be a little easier. Perhaps Space and the controller equivalent could be used instead of so much mouse clicking.
Charming and cute game. I did think that the "& friends" portion meant multiplayer so I was a bit disappointed to find that it wasn't. I wasn't sure what to expect if it was multiplayer in any case. It does have some errors/glitches that need to be ironed out, but they are not game-breaking. For example, I didn't cut a vegetable at all, and it went in the pan as if it was diced. Who diced it for me?! In any case, If you like relaxing cooking games with some adorable woodland creature character interactions, this is for you.
While I bought it because I am looking to support one of my favorite childhood series, this game is clearly geared for a younger audience. But even for someone older, like myself, I can say I enjoyed what I have played so far. I particularly enjoy the core concepts of cooking and how they are presented in a digestible manner for young learners. A great holiday gift if you want to help increase a loved one's steam library.
REDWALL!!!!! love this game! Lots of fun cooking redwall foods!!
It’s really fun, but I still wish there was a Traditional Chinese translation
This was lovely! Nice story, cooking was fun, a good return to the world of Redwall.
The game has a warm and comfy feel that I found very enjoyable. It is a low stress and relaxing game, though I did encounter a fair deal of minor bugs, including one that caused the game to lock up. The part I just don't understand is, when you have such a story rich IP, why not use it more? You have all of this backstory to pull from, and I would have loved to see them engage more with it.
Bought the game as a die hard Redwall fan and I can say I enjoyed the game within reason. If you like Redwall and the themes, Feasts, a cute story, cooking, it might be for you. A large part of RedWall is all about these grand Feasts and the food - so much about the food - and this game gives you a little taste of what it might be like to cook in that world. You play as an older gentleman mouse trying to win the rights to cook in Redwall's famous kitchen - if that kind of thought ever inspired you or raised some desire, this game will scratch that itch. That being said - the game has some, ironing, that could be done on it. Nothing is game breaking, just a little, extra seasoning could be added. It is a flavorful, quaint, and utterly charming game in its own right - but not expect wonders out of it. (Really, its more about the story/novelty/opportunity not the game play.) Go for the love of the Series - you'll enjoy yourself with a cozy, pretty laid back little game. I would not recommend it if you expecting a fancy, flashing, cooking game like Cooking Sim or Cooking Mama.
