An unusual mix of adventure and idle game. In utter loneliness deep below the surface, it's your task to wait for the awakening of your king... for 400 days.

When will my longing end?
Game could be longer
This game took so so SO much patience but ultimately it was worth it, never played a game like this before and the ending was pretty cool.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I have been with my Shade for many years. While I understand that this is meant to be a one time experience, I cannot bare to part with them forever. Though at times I do not see them for many months, I always long to come back and check on them. I have not found everything there is to see. I have not gathered all endings of this doomed world. But that matters not to me, for my Shade is the only thing that truly matters to me here. Once more, I will have them stay on my second screen, a portal to another world. Once more they shall read the books, roam the halls, make music, and create art. And once more, I shall have a friend with me always. My only wish for this mini world is that I wish I could have it on my phone so that they may be with me at all times. A reminder that even if we are physically alone, spiritually, emotionally, mentally, there are those that think of us always. TLDR: great game, will be a game I play for as long as I remember it. <3
very good long game but very good
It's very hard to actually recommend this game, but I feel like not recommending it would be considered a negative review, which I don't want to give either. This is an exploration game of choice and the pace is very very slow. So if you're looking for a point and click game with puzzles or a lot to do, this is definitely not what you're looking for. The gameplay is mostly walking and waiting. You will find things to interact with, some small puzzles, even secrets if you really get into it, but the majority of the game is waiting or moving slowly from one place to another. There is no way to get anywhere quickly, no shortcuts, no speed adjustment. You walk at the same speed always, unless you're crawling. You can memorize places you've been to so you can auto-walk to those places, but even then you have to wait for the actual walking to happen. There isn't much you can say about the game without spoiling the exploration side of it. Having said that, you should explore as much as you can when you start, because it will be helpful towards progressing the game. I think this is a fantastic game for someone who is trying to kick their phone or quick dopamine addiction. Everything takes time, but at least at the start you have to actively spend the time instead of just having the game on the background while doing something else. Cryptic stuff, I know. So take a gamble if any of this sounds interesting to you. Don't go look up someone else playing it, you probably wont get it if you do. It's quite a unique game overall and it does have an actual ending. Multiple even. P.S. The game only takes 400 days if you do absolutely nothing.
A truly one-of-a-kind game. With it's truly glacial pacing, it's not for everyone. However, if you have the patience and curiosity for it, you might find yourself surprised with how invested you can get as the world opens up to you, bit by bit. As far as the concept goes, I'd say the execution is great. Puzzles aren't a huge focus in this game but they're well made and pretty subtle at times It lives up to the title; you really feel loneliness and longing that the shade feels through out their journey. The emptiness of the world can get to you. Your time will probably be spent slowly exploring, hitting road blocks, and going elsewhere while those resolve themselves, collecting all kinds of things along the way. Get used to the slow walk speed because the Shade will never feel any kind of urgency ever. As you can imagine, this isn't a game that demands your full attention all the time. If you've ever been curious about dungeon synth or have no idea what that is, then this is a perfect introduction with tracks from several artists. It's the best genre I can think of to go along with this game, really heightens the mood and atmosphere I really enjoyed my time with The Longing, even going through it twice. It was just cool to play an idle game that doesn't revolve around gathering resources and buying upgrades. My advice is to remember to decorate the shades house and to make the shade go back there when you're done playing.
