Getting very attached to this lil guy! The Longing is a great game for people with depression, despair, and anxiety. Gives me a little hope and something to look forward to every day, helping the Shade move forward with curiosity, one action at a time. There's also no pressure to do any of it. I could just sleep the 400 days away. I'm just a few days into the game but it's very satisfying. Each discovery hits different. It is slow-paced so play a little alongside other, more exciting games. Do not hesitate to look up hints and clues as that can save you some grief. Do not and I repeat DO NOT commit suicide in the game as that's a final hard stop, very much as in life. Take care of yourself and the Shade. Happy trails!

Was really cool for the awhile, I loved exploring the caves and finding all the areas. But when I reached that mushroom puzzle near the top of the caves, I was stumped and had to look up how to move past it. Then the rest of the game was kinda like that. Sure, most of that was achievements and secrets that I didn't "need" to do to get an ending. But man, it just wasn't as fun. It also doesn't help that the ending I got (waking up the king) is not the best. Like, wow, I wake him up, and he destroys everything. Thanks, jackass. I wish I had gone up the well and had been rescued by the old man, but idk how that works. Also, if the kid is at the well, you just die. All in all, I really enjoyed this game for the first like 60% or 70% of my playtime. Then it just became a little tedious, not too bad, I was still enjoying it. But I wish there were more obvious hints at what to do for some of the puzzles. (secret stuff is fine being hard, bc y'know, it's meant to be secret stuff (although I do wish guides online were much clearer)). Definitely not a game for everyone, but some will really enjoy it.

It's lovely. The walking will ragebait you in the beginning, but it's meant to be soft-paced. For one achievement you need to edit the game file itself, which is not explained anywhere but in the wiki- which is a bit of a bummer, but that's okay.

I played this throughout university and having my little shade creature exploring in the background made studying a lot more fun!! The only issue was that it was a little TOO interesting... one night I drew a map of the caves instead of doing homework
