Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Every market we collect.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4.57/day in the week to Sep 7 → 3.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
The Life and Suffering of Prince Jerian is a narrative role-playing game telling the story of a cruel world, where lawbreaking is met with severe punishment, and a crown prince must decide the destiny of the land. Whether you rule maintaining the old order, or create a new future is up to you.
In the Great Arknian Empire, everyone’s life is determined by their birth. Such is the ultimate law laid down by the Twins, stern gods who divided society into Lots. The clergy shows people the right path, the nobles rule, and the commoners’ Lot is working and suffering in obedience. Your fate, however, is very different: to be the chosen of the gods, become their tool, and govern the entire nation.
You, Prince Jerian of the Tempest, must embark on a lifelong journey: starting as a child unaware of his destiny, and becoming an emperor for whose role you have been preparing since birth. As a crown prince, you will have to understand your country and its culture, but also make difficult choices affecting the fragile balance of powers in the Empire, and yourself.
Developed by the creators of The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante, the events of this new game take place in the same universe, but tell a completely different story. While The Life and Suffering of Prince Jerian inherits existing gameplay features, it also contains new mechanics reflecting the protagonist’s role and traits.

As a future ruler, you must learn the current state of the Empire. The treasury is running dry as the estates rise one against another, fighting for their interests. The church withers and sows hatred among the people, noble houses aspire to keep the old traditions, and commoners demand equal rights with the nobility. Pay attention to these circumstances and decide the country’s path while chasing your own goals.

The time will come, and the Emperor’s scepter will lie in your hands, but you feel its weight even now. You have to act immediately: you are the only one able to change the course of history, to unite or shatter the country. Make difficult choices that affect the nation and you alike. Promises given to yourself might become your most unbearable burden. Every decision brings consequences, and your mistakes will be paid for by the entire Empire.

You were given power by birth, but the cost of such majesty is your own ambition. You are shackled not only by the outside world and its circumstances, but also by your soul. Thinking of who you are, who you want to be, and who the Empire wants to see in you, such is your lot. Making a choice of your own requires a sacrifice. Following the political situation and your family’s demands might drive you mad. Will you save yourself or allow your soul to shatter into pieces?

Be careful in choosing your allies: those who you keep close will shape your character and affect your decisions. Your family, your subjects, nobles and commoners alike, every single one wants your attention and patronage. Help one, and you will lose the support of another. Whether you succeed in maintaining the fragile balance of the Empire or let it all burn down in civil war will be decided by you.

Not only are you the crown prince, but also the Primate, who connects the worlds of the living and the divine. You and your family of the Tempest are the keepers of the Pact, a “testament” between the Twins and those who live by their will. Can it be changed without dooming the world? You will find the answer yourself.

The power that you possess is not an end, but a means. You are destined to save the world entrusted to you by your ancestors and gods. What future awaits the New Empire, and who will benefit? Whose sufferings will end, and whose will begin? Only time will tell.

So far, I have mixed feeling about this, leaning more towards the negative as I'm finding the rebellion mechanic a nuisance, it also appears that a few others share that feeling. I love the style of the game and the story, Jerian's struggle and how the aspect of "With great power comes great responsibility" plays into it, yet I cannot get past chapter four without triggering these rebellion markers which I will admit is infuriating. I'll have a break and probs come back to it at some point, my only hope is if the rebellion triggers have a rework where its not as harsh or in where we have an ability to negate it a little more? Would be inspiring.

I wouldn't consider this to be a proper CYOA game - i HAD to replay multiple chapters multiple times due to not meeting conditions (aka points required) to make "good enough" choices by devotedly following my pursuit for Progress and Equality. Most of the time you have to replay a chapter at least twice to know when to accept some concessions and not fail because of SURPRISE (e.g. rebellion) events. Some potentially interesting side-stories lead to nothing except for resulting in an achievement and abrupt end of the game. Good enough for a single playthrough, but utterly disappointing in the end.
I really wanted to like this game, the premise sounded even more enticing than Brante. Unfortunately this game, even with the starting chapter "vision into the future" which are game states you should strive to achieve for specific and better story progression, still manages to be a giant metagaming trial and error experience. This often results in immersion breaking and narratively disruptive situation as you inevitably end up restarting a chapter to correct a few choices here and there and see if you can finally make it work, fast skipping dialogue to the different bits. It all takes you out of an experience that would be otherwise quite nice, as the setting and cast are compelling, detailed and well made. The game also advertises itself as one where you get to play as a ruler, especially in the first trailers. The whole story is set up for this. You start the game as a youngster with an anticipation of sorts, already thinking how you'll finally end up being an Emperor, what you'll end up doing as a ruler, etc. By the time chapter 4 out of 5 swings by, your father, the actual Emperor, is still alive and you're more or less dealing with political machinations as part of a group of people with varying interests. Not to say that there aren't significant decisions to make or important ways to shape the realm as you are, but I feel a bit misled in what the whole game was supposed to be. I lost interest and could not bring myself to play more to see if, maybe, hopefully, at some point I'll get to play as a ruler. Again, by chapter 4 you're still a mid to late twenties prince, still with no wife, still not a ruler, still dealing with shenanigans that aren't fully your own. It feels like a crrescendo that leads nowhere, and I don't want to see if it will lead somewhere after all, because it all turned into a tedious guessing game where the narrative feels like a carrot on a stick to egg you on, without any real pay off. I also found weird that they made a whole kickstarter and then two months after it, with a bunch of stretch goals, the shipped the game, but this is neither here nor there, it's just bad optics for me personally, and I don't want to make random hypotheses as to the practice as a whole. In conclusion I feel a bit frustrated because there is a nice concept of a game here, with some cool ideas and lore elements, but its ultimate form isn't quite the shining gem it could've been, feeling more like a mirage and a collection of what ifs, marred by mandatory metagaming.
Won't change my review until the game removes its AI artworks or marks the store page appropriately. I didn't even know about the controversy before I saw an animated artwork in the "Lesser Quorum" chapter that is so obviously AI animated it's genuinely offensive, ripped me right out of the experience. I understand the difficulties of game creation, but if the devs respect their own work and art as a whole then eventually all of it should be replaced with something made with genuine human hands. It's so jarring seeing the fantastic artworks and animations present here and then suddenly have it contrasted with grotesque, warped imitations of itself.
