One of the most impactful game I've ever played. Take caution tho, it's full of text, and can feel like a job instead. First time I boot this up, I felt like, what have I done? Am I working? You get to feel what a leader of a country felt. Can't satisfy everyone, but kept trying your best. My first run, I tried to be tolerant towards the criminal queen, but made a mistake of talking about my dissatisfaction towards them in the Summit. Thought everyone would've helped. Welp, it's just like real life, small country have no power at all against bullies like Rumberg. Got everyone killed. I was so angry with that queen. But at least we all died with honour, and my people and I all fight for our country. No one betrayed me except that spy girl. Made a second run, but for me, first run is the ONLY real one, since real life has no redo. This time I tried to suck up to Rumberg, only to have my own general, who, in my first run, defended and died protecting me but this time betrayed me and imprisoned me, all for averting the future of which, everyone I loved died. Made me feel so invested on my precious country and people of Sordland. A masterpiece! Must play for story-rich elements. Not for kids, or people who doesnt like reading. - 9.9/10 just need improvement on economy like others said. Will check out Rizia when it hits sale.
Suzerain is unlike any other game I have played or even heard of. When I played it for the first time I literally couldn't stop thinking about; how was I going to bring the country back together, was I going to be able to keep to my morals, how was I going to get the votes! I absolutely recommend giving it a try. If you're even thinking about getting it then this is definitely the game for you. I would say suggest going into your first playthrough as blind as you can (though The Templin Institute on YouTube has two great videos to set up the lore and setting of the game and it's expansion).
Very fun game that allows more freedom than most rpg games. You will most of the time be staring at a visual novel, but the effects you get are awesome. The key thing I hate about this game is the reddit atheism in this game. I am also an atheist but this ♥♥♥♥♥ keeps yapping about how being a believer in a religion makes you be less educated and wants you to make schools all be atheist. I think the author of this game definitely thinks that the end stage of the world is some liberal utopian fantasy that will forever stay that way.
This is a GREAT game! I played first as Rayne and failed, facing a military coup but not being shot. Played a second time, achieved an economic miralce. Playing for Riza, triggering a revolution, now re-running. I really enjoy the complex plots, that's ist not just "charachter building" but managing the whole system. Never played Crusader Kings but might try it out after Suzerain. I also admire the semi-historical settings based on various real-life examples. DO hope the team will bring other nations and spin-offs, can't wait!!!
This game is so underrated that it pains me physically. If you love a strategy game with a story, undoubtedly this game must be your choice. This is not a game where you can physically go and do things. You just read some texts, develop your strategy and choose which policies to apply upon your nation, if you do not like it, then you shouldn't consider buying this game. The whole game is like reading a book, but its much more enjoyable. I think the best thing about this game is the wide variety of options you can choose. You can draft a democratic constitution, or an oppresive one. You can hang your enemies one by one, or cooperate with them. You can oppress your people (like my best buddy Smolak) or lend an ear to their thoughts and concerns, then act accordingly. I really had fun playing as Anton Rayne, the character customization options are nice, also the writing and characters are very interesting. I also recommend that if you want a good ending, you should definietly check the wiki or make some research, because I haven't been able to pass my constitution even by the Assembly on my first playthrough. (what a disgrace) A piece of advice: (Contains spoilers.) War with Rumburg will eventually come at your doorstep. Sordland needs every ally it can get. Agnolia is our blood-bonded brothers, and they got their own share of Rumburgian expansionism. Wehlen and Lespia can extend a hand too. Sordlands power not only derives from its people, but its allies too. United we stand, divided we fall. Finally, I just started playing the DLC and i gotta say that it's been much more enjoyable than Sordland, there is much more game mechanics than the vanilla version of the game. (Romus is not goated as Rayne tho.) Also, ♥♥♥♥ you Beatrice. A morgna wes core, vectern sis da. Greci Sordland!
Good game but need more dlcs for varied fun also need more active war mechanism ❤️❤️
Based on a consumer perspective focusing on content, in my opinion, the cons outweigh the pros. Navigating to reach certain in-game outcomes can be disproportionately rigid, even on the "easy" difficulty setting. There is little, and sometimes no room for error in what the developers have coded to reach these outcomes, instilling the notion that the development team prioritizes dictating your in-game decisions (no pun intended based on the game's story narrative) rather than offering freedom of flexibility to reach said outcomes (no pun intended once again). Furthermore, certain online forums have stated that the development team aren't as aware compared to other studios on how to reach certain in-game outcomes that they coded into their project, leaving vague and limited information available on how to navigate to outcomes of your choosing. From this perspective, I'll conclude that this product does need certain quality of life improvements and better play testing before their developers finish and release their projects, with the current state of this project's re-playability relying upon low levels of transparency in the game's coding logic rather than rewarding individual player initiative for attempting to navigate to certain story outcomes.
It is basically like an RPG game but with only dialog choices. The story is great. However I have misgivings about the 'strategic' layer. I don't like how there's difficulty levels in this game - you can choose at the start whether to get a budget bonus or a budget defecit and the same for personal finance. All it boils down to is how many 'mistakes' you can make to get to various endings. I think they should have done away with any difficulty level and instead tune the game for just 'normal'. The user interface to view any of the economic stats is absolutely terrible. You have to click on each city to see what changed to green and what changed to red when you make decisions in the story. Thankfully it is not very important, unless you are a die-hard player who is seeking particular endings. In saying all this I would still highly recommend this game for one or two playthroughs - my advice is to just always play with the easy setting which gives you more flexibility and more fun, especially if you don't want to spend any time on replaying the game.
It's a visual novel style game, and it feels like you can really push the limits so far. So far one case of the dialogue options not making sense. Really enjoying this thought provoking game. Decisions feel important even during most of the dialogue.
This is a great choose your own adventure style game. The only parts I dislike are mostly in the rizia dlc which overall is great, but the Pales situation is too easy to resolve in a way where you get your cake and eat it too.
