Reviews
The game is currently in Early Access/Open-Beta and yes, I do recommend it. Before I go further, I want to say that this game is so far shaping up to be the horse game I've wanted my entire life. Let's start with the current controversy; there was recently an update that added Corruption and there has been a flood of comments and content that has been negative. I'm on the other team; I like the addition of Corruption. I like how we have the option to turn it off or keep it on and adjust how fast it spreads. I have it off right now because I'm breeding horses like crazy and the time passing quickly makes Corruption spread real fast. I also like battling Gnarls. I just think they're neat. I would like to see better adversaries guarding shrines and I hope in future updates we see improvements. I understand some people are upset that resources are going toward Corruption features, but there are those like myself that enjoy it and hope for more to come. That said, I do want to see the addition of Kickstarter stretch goals. However, I felt from the beginning the stretch goals were lofty. The more scope creep you get, well... yeah. While my favorite games are often open-world-get-around-by-horseback, such as RDR2, Breath of the Wild, and Shadow of the Colossus, I will admit I'm not into the more traditional 'horse girl' games. There was never enough to them and I am older than their intended demographic. I backed this game on Kickstarter because it was open world exploration on horseback. However, without conflict I feel the game (for me) would feel lacking. Combat from horseback is one of the things I enjoy most in my games. All that said, here's a list of things I really like: - Horse breeding (I'm having a blast). - An incredibly large open world map to explore. - Gathering items from horseback! I like the minigame. - Cargo degradation - I absolutely love how the world shakes/ lurches when interacting with a Gnarl. - I was unsure how I'd feel about weather effects and tougher terrain but turns out I like all that. - The weather changing! Love a good thunderstorm. And sometimes it snows, changing the landscape. - Just like in real life, some routes are more difficult than others. Some are winding while others are more straightforward. The variety is nice. Things I would love to see: - CORRUPTED HORSES with traits that are only unlocked once you've rescued/cleansed it. After saving the horse you have the option to find it later in the wild to unlock a new coat pattern or trait. People who don't want the Corruption experience could unlock these traits in other ways - such as finding them in the world on special missions, or hearing rumors of rare wild horses and having to follow a map or clues to find them. - Other NPC riders out in the world. It would be cool to find riders struggling with Corruption and step in to save them. No Corruption option? Finding a rider who has an injured horse and cannot finish their current delivery without further risking their horse's health/recovery. You can take on their cargo so their horse can heal. - A rare Gnarl that has become mobile and gives chase. Could be an optional mini boss battle. - In certain climates, vapor coming off a horse if it has been running hard for a long period of time. Sometimes it's the little things. Things I think are important or hope for in future updates: - The ability to transport horses between stables without having to manually go get each one. Maybe it could take an in-game day or more before they show up. Or there could be a fee if you want it faster. - The ability to sell horses at any stable. - Better archery. It's a bit clunky as it is right now. Sometimes the aiming goes funny and I can't aim at anything but the ground or sky. - I would like the Bretons to have a little more diversity to their look other than just 'We took the Mongolian horse model and made it BIG.' - Quality of life improvements, such as menu navigation, quick commands such as telling my horse to GO GRAZE just as we can tell it to drink. I don't think I've ever used the quick menu to give my horse a health item. I just open my inventory regular style because it's one button access. - Bigger chest storage and/or each chest location in the world being unique instead of one universal access point. Or it could be divided into 2: one section of the chest with universal storage and then an 'overflow' section unique to that chest location. - Improvements to the wild animals. They're pretty clunky right now. These are non-exhaustive lists and there are many things I'm sure are still being worked on. This is very much a game in EA/Beta and current expectations should match. That being said, keep sending bug reports and recommendations.

Honse.
I think this game is amazing but there is alot of room for improvement. The only thing i do not like about the game is how annoying it is to deal with the corruption. In my opinion it should be some sort of "boss fight" to keep areas of it held back for good.
horse
This game is still in development, however, it is clear the effort put into the detail and "game-feel" of an open world horse-centric game. I enjoy the more relaxed feel to the central game, which is riding your horse around as a courier rider, wandering all over the map collecting items, meeting new NPCs, and encountering wild deer, bunnies, bears, wolves, snakes, and of course, horses, to complete your missions. While there are options to increase the game difficulty and aggression, I have turned those settings down a notch and enjoy the game more this way. I like that it has regional collectibles and more challenging environments for the player and horse to navigate, it creates enough of a challenge for me, without it feeling too hard or too repetitious. There are a few things that I would change however. My biggest challenge has been management of the stables. There is a central stable, where you can buy and sell horses via a horse merchant, but also a breeding facility. The other "satellite" stables (what I call them), do not have these features. Which means that they are mostly full of horses I would rather sell, but cannot, because in order to take a horse to sell it at the central village, you must swap it out with another horse from somewhere else. I don't mind riding horses from one stable to another to move them, I am going there anyways for my missions, however, it does get annoying when I see that I have a satellite stable full of horses that I'd rather sell to free up room for bred horses or new wilds. This could be solved by adding the ability to sell at each location or by adding a "ponying" feature or "pack horse" feature, allowing a second horse to tag along from one location to another, thus allowing me to sell that horse at the central village and be able to free up a stall at one of the satellite stables.
I love this game! While it is still early access I love coming to it when I want to play something more relaxing, even though it still has enemies and such. The horses look awesome and the environment is beautiful, I hope they add more horse breeds and variety, maybe even work on adding customization to manes and hoof feathers ect.
this is a fun game and for horse people its definitely scratches that itch
Just started this game and I'm enjoying myself so far. Its nice to ride a horse and put some music in the background. The game itself is very customizable on difficulty level which I enjoy. I ended up playing it standard and I wasn't a fan of the bow or the combat with the wolfs. The bow felt slow to aim and I felt like headshots weren't rewarding. As well as the game wasn't very pretty on my pc compared to the TikTok's I've seen but I think it was an issue on my end. Totally recommend if you love horses! I myself like horses and enjoyed seeing the horses animations.
This game, simply put, is breathtaking. Yes, there are bugs, but it's EA. Biggest takeaway from me is the realism of your horse- the way it rides as if you're actually riding one, the joy in the journeys, how the horses move and act, even down to wandering a little if you leave them untethered. You can pet them, brush them, check their hooves, balance their packs, lead them to water to drink, breed them for specific traits with genetic color markers, tame wild horses with much patience, grab resources with skill from horseback, and hunt while riding. You do everything with your horse. You can train it by riding it. Craft foods and tonics to protect them from the heat and cold, treat snake bites, and more that I can't begin to add to a review. The next best part is the cinematic historical setting in ancient Mongolia, the throat singing sounds in town. I'm discovering more about the corruption element since it is new. I picked up the game yesterday and played 10 hours straight. Couldn't put it down. The bugs are not game-stopping. If you get stuck on your horse you get off and back on, or try a different angle to care for them. I have yet to fully get stuck anywhere. The biomes are diverse and the resources are biome specific, and it seems like more become available as you travel the same biome again. TLDR: bugs but it's EA, horses seem real, very immersive environment, lovely historical setting. Try it if you're here for exploration and the joy of riding. If you're into zoom zoom completionist looting games then you likely won't care for this artful game. Know what you're getting into, and if you do, then this game is uber enjoyable.
