I actually had a lof of fun with this game and will summarize it's pro and contras for you all here: + Beautiful 2D graphics and with the real-life movie scenes I got the feeling of playing classic games again, like The 7th Guest or Gabriel Knight. + The mix between 2D graphics and 3D graphics improved the illusion of being trapped in a dream. + Challenging riddles (like the chess board for example) and hidden object mini-games. + I just love the cat in this game! How it observes the screen (player) and blinks peacefully and patiently at us. + Free wallpapers included in the Extras content! - Pretty short, the main story I've finished in 5 hours and with the extra content I got more 1 hour play-time out of it. But it got replay value, because all of the game puzzles you are able to replay in the menu and for myself I've missed all cat toy collectables, so I could find a reason for playing the whole game again. - The male actor of the movie clips is for sure no professional actor, because he didn't look the slightest upset during more dangerous situations.
加油性好评,希望激励原厂商更新中文。chinese plz.
It's quite cute and reminiscent of some older point and click adventure games. If you like this type of game (hidden objects, mini games, adventure, a hint of story..) you will enjoy this experience.
👍
Excellent !
Nice game. Not a top tier game of it's genre, but rather charming. And yeah, wouldn't call it a HOG, because there is no hidden object scenes. It's more like a point and click adventure game with puzzles. Puzzles are rather easy but still interesting enough. Some of them I didn't encounter before in other such games. Story is good. Initially it seems rather chaotic and looks more like a daymare, but in the end you will get a twist that will explain everything. Visuals are nice as well. With beautiful artwork and animated special effects. The game also has a bonus chapter. Overall - time well spent.
nice game
The Last Dream: Developer’s Edition, developed and published by Specialbit Studio, is a hidden-object adventure that seeks to bridge the worlds of reality and dream through a story rooted in love, loss, and longing. The game follows Ben, a man haunted by the death of his wife Elizabeth, who begins to experience strange dreams in which she appears to be alive and calling to him. Torn between grief and hope, Ben sets out to follow the mysterious clues that connect his waking life with the surreal visions in his dreams. What unfolds is a melancholic and atmospheric journey through fragmented memories and subconscious symbolism, where each scene represents a small step toward understanding—and perhaps reunion. Unlike many hidden-object games that use simple mystery or fantasy plots as excuses for puzzles, The Last Dream tries to tell a deeply emotional story that engages both the intellect and the heart. The game’s greatest strength lies in its ability to weave narrative and aesthetic together into a cohesive experience. The transitions between real-world sequences and dreamscapes are handled with a distinct visual flair: live-action scenes of Ben and Elizabeth, presented as flashbacks or dream memories, blend seamlessly with hand-painted and digitally rendered environments. This combination of styles gives the story a cinematic tone while reinforcing its central theme—the blurred boundary between what is real and what is imagined. Each location, whether a windswept field, a collapsing carnival, or a forgotten city beneath the waves, reflects Ben’s mental state. These dream environments are not just backdrops for puzzles but metaphors for his grief and guilt. The soft lighting, surreal architecture, and the recurring image of Elizabeth serve as a visual diary of Ben’s emotional descent and gradual awakening. The effect is both immersive and poignant, reminding players that the narrative is as much about self-discovery as it is about supernatural mystery. Gameplay follows the traditional structure of a hidden-object adventure but is elevated by thoughtful pacing and presentation. Each chapter introduces new areas filled with items to find, puzzles to solve, and small tasks that unlock progress. The hidden-object scenes are cleanly designed, avoiding the cluttered chaos that sometimes plagues the genre, and each puzzle feels thematically linked to the dream world’s logic. Instead of relying solely on item collection, the game integrates logic-based mini-games and environmental riddles that encourage observation and experimentation. While none of these puzzles are particularly challenging, they maintain a satisfying rhythm that keeps the narrative moving forward. The inclusion of a cat companion adds a lighthearted element to the otherwise somber tone. The animal assists in specific interactions, helping retrieve hard-to-reach objects and occasionally serving as a symbolic reminder of life continuing despite loss. The pacing of The Last Dream is gentle, allowing players to absorb the atmosphere and story at their own speed. It can be completed in roughly four to six hours, depending on how much time is spent exploring and solving optional challenges. There are multiple difficulty modes that adjust the frequency of hints and the speed at which the hint meter recharges, making it approachable for both newcomers and genre veterans. The game’s “Developer’s Edition” includes a bonus chapter that extends the story and provides a more definitive emotional resolution, while also offering behind-the-scenes material such as concept art and soundtrack selections. These additions help round out the experience, giving players a reason to linger in the world even after the main story concludes. From a technical standpoint, The Last Dream runs smoothly on virtually any modern system, reflecting its origins as a casual adventure game. The user interface is intuitive, with a map system that allows easy navigation between areas and an optional journal that keeps track of key story details. The music deserves particular praise: its subdued piano melodies and ambient tones create a dreamlike atmosphere that complements the visuals perfectly. The soundtrack shifts subtly between melancholy and hope, emphasizing the game’s emotional core without becoming intrusive. Voice acting, though limited, conveys sincerity and helps ground the surreal events in genuine emotion. The overall sound design—creaking doors, gusts of wind, faint whispers—adds texture to the environments, ensuring that the sense of immersion never falters. While the game is heartfelt and visually engaging, it does have some shortcomings. Its emotional story, while touching, occasionally relies on familiar tropes and predictable beats. The puzzles, though enjoyable, lack variety after several hours, and some of the hidden-object sequences repeat similar mechanics. Players accustomed to more complex adventure titles may find the gameplay too easy or straightforward. Nevertheless, these minor flaws do not diminish its charm. The Last Dream is not designed to challenge players with difficulty but to move them through atmosphere, storytelling, and visual beauty. Its simplicity works in its favor, allowing the narrative to breathe and the emotional resonance to take center stage. In the end, The Last Dream: Developer’s Edition stands out as an evocative and bittersweet entry in the hidden-object adventure genre. It succeeds in transforming a familiar formula into something more personal and reflective, inviting players to explore not just environments but emotions. The fusion of live-action storytelling, hand-painted dreamscapes, and gentle puzzle design creates an experience that feels both intimate and imaginative. It’s a journey about love that transcends death, about dreams as the language of the heart, and about the healing that comes from accepting loss. Though modest in scale, its sincerity and artistry leave a lasting impression. For players seeking a quiet, beautifully crafted story that balances melancholy and hope, The Last Dream is a haunting and memorable experience that lingers long after waking. Rating: 7/10
One of the games that you just cannot let be and you must finish it as soon as possible. Or you will dream about puzzles and try to find the solutions while sleeping. Good brain excercise. With this game noone can say that games make you or anyone else dumb. Romantic souls will find the story very pleasant.
