"A Requiem for Innocence" is a companion to the visual novel "The House in Fata Morgana." It tells the tale of a young man dragged down by his ambitions and a girl both worshiped as a saint and maligned as a witch. For them, there is no happily ever after.

jacopo truly is the best pedophile in fiction
不推荐
弱逻辑权谋儿戏、痛苦不对等、笔力撑不起人设(尤其杰莲)
emmm……
im editing my review after fully completting the game. i felt stubborn and made it before i had completed the side content, which is necessary to understand the full story in all its components. this game, and by extension the house in fata morgana, are without a doubt, my favourite pieces of fiction of all time. ive never once tried this hard to get my friends into a franchise and unto two games like this before. i feel so deeply passionate about this series. please play this game. please play the main game too (that one first is important). these games present the most outstanding story about love and companionship, and it truly feels as if its not that close, this game was that heavy for me. ive never once gotten so emotional from a piece of media before, and ive played a lot of games. i cannot articulate properly how i felt playing these games, or how they made me feel afterwards. there is so much id kill to discuss, so many spoilers i wish i could talk about. please play them. these games opened my eyes to visual novels as a genre, id always look down on them before without ever really paying them any mind. the reason as to why i prefer the prequel over the main game is something i cannot discuss. you need to experience this without any prior knowledge. the emotional weight this game holds up to and especially including fragment cannot be understated. there is so much beauty in a game this tragic. morgana and jacopo are some of my favourite characters of all time. play THIFM or else.

I think that the original House in Fata Morgana game is not only a masterpiece everyone should play, but hands down one the best fictional stories I've ever witnessed. Which is why this review is very difficult for me. I went into this game knowing that a prequel was not necessarily needed. I won't mention spoilers, but the story in this game was already fleshed out pretty well in the original, to the point where not playing this game won't make you miss anything whatsoever. But even if you just wanted to revisit it for the fun of it, and enjoy a little more detail, even then, this game cannot be called good. Everything from the music, to the new character artwork (and the quality of the new characters), to the dialogue, feels subpar. If I had to use a metaphor, I would say that this prequel feels and reads as fanfiction, or a version of the original story written by someone who prefers anime over novels. The dialogue is the worst culprit here. It makes the characters feel out of place, and tries to do something that the original did not, which is explain every little detail and every little thing a character is saying– to the point where someone says one thing, and before he can say the next, we read four or five sentences of inner dialogue explaining the first thing he said and why he said it. Dialogue feels plastic and unrealistic. Characters don't act as they did in the first game. People say things and behave in ways that just feel either corny or not something you would find in the real world. I think this ultimately shot my immersion, and the desire to keep reading. The only reason to get this is for the sub stories. The extra content is a bit more interesting if anything, but not worth the price tag. I would only get this game if it was offered to me on a discount.
I thought I wrote a review for this ages ago but apparently not. It is excellent. I won’t be spoiling anything of course, but do note that this is a prequel that ABSOLUTELY must be read AFTER the main story (The House in Fata Morgana). You will know what this story is about from that fact alone. Excellent character writing and story as is to be expected, and I also believe it has much better pacing than the main story.
This novel is a prequel to The House in Fata Morgana but actually, it gives more context to characters and what happens to the main game, so it's better to pick it up after finishing the first novel. Anyway, Keika Hanada managed to create perfectly the story of a man with good intentions, downspiraling in the most agonising way by betraying his own principles and loved ones and yet, making him feel so scaringly human. To make it short, this is the most humanlike writing I ever had the chance to read and god, it's so beautiful and cruel.
